Sticky: Official "Slow Down" error thread - Updated Sept. 11

It just happened to me a few minutes ago.
I got the message one time when I was browsing the new CS items in the marketplace and I got a Critical Error message that stayed for about a minute.
I then proceeded to sell a bunch of items quickly in the marketplace, recieving the message again and a ban that lasted about 15 minutes.
This all occurred in the marketplace and I have very fast internet.
It's frustrating!

I dont see why you people try to "Close the Browser" or clear your caches because the Database/System has just taking into account that you need to slow down...they didn't store a cookie on your computer saying that, the system itself is blocking you for however long it thinks is necessary

Heh, I can actually figure out that much. I only mentioned it before someone suggests I try that.

I'd also like to report that not ten minutes after making my post here, I got the error again, and it kept displaying it for over three hours. I wasn't doing anything specific either, I only clicked on the "Shops Directory" link on the navigation bar and the error showed up.

I got the error message 5 times on the August 6th, and 3 times on August 7th. I don't have accurate times at all, so I'm sorry. I think it happened when I was trying to send out private messages and confirming trades. However, I wasn't clicking around much, I think it was just the loading of the page that triggered it. I had recently upgraded my Firefox to the newest version and for some reason that's when the error messages started popping up. The new Firefox loads pages crazy fast, so I downgraded my Firefox and haven't gotten an error message since. I could be wrong, but it sure was a coincidence.

I'va gotten the error message before today but not that much. I have been gone for a week and todays my first day back in the market, so this could have started affecting me before now if I had been on. My main account (lordk67) has gotten the message three times today. The second was for at least 30 min and I haven't tried going on since the third. All I am doing is flipping throught the market place buying inks. I am using firefox which I just updated yeasterday.

I'll try my best to remember exactly what happened.

I got the Slow Down Error the first time around two Wednesdays ago ( I wanna say...the 29th of July?) at around 2pm to 4pm. I was dressing up my avatar and I got the warning while going to the Accessories or Items tab. After the message went away a few minutes later, I got it again within the next...20+ minutes while I was in a thread where I often hung out at. I know it happened very frequently that day, and I was "locked out" for hours. I had to close my browser, re-open it, and log in under a mule/alt. account in order to make a thread about the issue (I'll look for it in a sec and add it here), and I'm pretty sure I got the message on that account a few times as well.
I had never gotten the Slow Down message before until that day.

Ever since it started happening to me, I've gotten the message pretty much at random, although I've basically stayed in the forums since I was afraid to do anything else on the site. The message would pop up even if I waited for a minute or two to click on a link to a topic/page or something. The message itself wouldn't go away from anywhere from a few minutes to even hours.
Although I hadn't gotten it as frequently as I did in the beginning, it's still a huge pain. Dx

This didn't become a problem for me until the date I listed in my previous post in this thread. I believe something happened that day that has made this troublesome for so many people. Before that I got the slow down warning sometimes, but it never lasted for more than 3 minutes, and I only got it maybe 1 or 2 times a day max.

I get 2-3 SDBs every other hour that I'm getting very very paranoid.

I get SDBs from vending, usually in the morning -- 9-11AM and around 5-6PM EST.

Fortunately, though, my SDBs never really last long. The longest it lasted was about a half hour. emo

I'm using the latest version of FF. Maybe it's just loading pages too fast, as mentioned above?

Please fix this Gaia, otherwise vendors will forever be getting SDBs.

I started getting the error right after the eye update in the salon; I've only been getting it after trying to brows the gold shops, which are refusing to load/loading very slowly before timing out.
By 'slowly' I mean, 'it takes a minimum of ten minuts to load half a screen of items before it times out'.

I use Firefox 3.5.2 with no additional add-ons, on Windows Vista Home Basic; Sempron 3600+ Processor, 3.2 gigs of ram.
I've only been getting this error after attemping tpo brows the gold shops -- the cash shop, nor the forums, nor the market place - give me no trouble.

When I worked prod dev/marketing before, I always said the same thing to my short-sighted and money-hungry Director (who, incidentally, is now fired). I told her that losing a little money now to protect long term customer relationships was worth it, and would pay off in the long run.

If I were in charge of this project, I would immediately disable the "hotshot error" to avoid damaging a solid and loyal customer base. Then I would brainstorm some better ways to stop botting.

;P there isn't another way besides a redirect in which you get the Slow Down page

i'd just suggest changing the rate at which it appears, considering the possibility that there is a problem within the "Database" causing these warning to set of at random then i would also suggest a better looking interface and a Captcha to be put in, so the users receiving this wont freak

and yes i also noticed that after firefox 3.5.X the Slow Down page has appeared more often which is leading me to believe that a faster internet rate also causes this message to appear

I am posting this from my Mule account since I am unable to do anything with my main account (Penguin_Sama.) I've been trying to log into it about once an hour since around noon on the 11th of August. This is extremely frustrating for me since I spend most of my time roleplaying in the forums.

Anyhow, the main issue is I can't get into my main, and all I really do is post in the forums (and each post takes between 15 minutes and half a hour) Please fix this!

I got two yesterday, between 5pm and 8pm EST. I was over-exited about the mystery moods, and I suppose I was opening and selling them too fast. I got one error while I was opening in my inventory, and one when I was selling bubbles in the MP. I almost never use the refresh button (unless I'm trying for a FS pet, still I got no errors for that). I was only opening and selling mystery moods and bubbles. Sorry I can't be more specific. I'm using firefox, and the only add-ons I have are fireshot (for taking pics), Adblock Plus, and then the regular toolbars plus Tektek's toolbar.
