The prefilled boxes do screw up the internal browser remember password thingy.

But I've noticed if javascript is disabled you can't log in. No warning or anything, just a "incorrect login information". This has been going on for a few weeks+ now, in the past you could still login fine.

I've had the same problem with YouTube once.I didnt try Gaia until after I fixed my problem.I know how to turn JavaScript back on now.And all I did was experiment.Just go to Internet Options and go to Java. What I did was enable all the things under Java that was disabled and my problem was fixed. YouTube would work right. That meant Gaia worked right. This is just something I wanted to share.

Someone showed me this thread. I'm so glad you made it. I made This thread about my log-in problem.
Here's what I said in my OP
Quote:
Ever since the Log-in was changed to the new Facebook look I've been having trouble logging in successfully.

I copy paste my password. So I know it is correct. I've used it since I became a part of Gaia over a year and a half ago and have not had any problems. Until now. On this, and my other accounts, since the change to the Facebook log-in, my first attempt to log on often results in that "Uh oh" message telling me it failed. Either my username or password is incorrect and further failures will get me blocked for a bit. rolleyes

I know I am not making the mistake. So far my second attempt, doing the exact same thing I do for the first one, works and I get in. However, I do not want to lose access to my accounts because of this new problem. Please look into this and see why the new log-in is having such a hard time recognizing legitimate usernames and passwords.

I also found that for the accounts that I use to use Firefoxes Remember password function which have always worked before, they no longer work. You, know, where you click on the username and the dropdown shows up. At first they weren't showing up at all. Now they do sometimes. The worse problem with that, is if I try to use them and they auto-fill the username and password, these no longer are successful. I get the failed log in message again that says it's possibly a wrong username or password. Which of course it can't be wrong. I've used them for a year and a half now with no problem before the new Facebook log-in.

I also found that while being very careful to clear the username and password sections even if they have something there or not, then pasting my username and password, I can be successful to a certain degree. But LIKE TODAY, it failed the first time too. I had to do it twice today. I'm wondering if those shadow words you have there now are causing the problem. Because I notice that when I use the auto-fill option, the shadow words "username" and "password" do not disappear. And that's why I have to "clear" the spaces first. Though, as I've just said, clearing the spaces first doesn't always work for a successful log-iin.

I use Windows XP with Firefox 3.0 browser

I never have that problem. Today, (while I was using Internet Explorer 8 ) the "Password" grey words were there. Autofill filled in my password when I typed in "Rika-Higurashi16" (which I use to log in), and I pressed enter....Log in successful. With the grey words. It did the same when I used Google Chrome since YouTube stopped letting me log in with Internet Explorer 8 (I know, I thought it was crazy). Another log in successful. I think that is just a bug in Firefox.

To all the people having "Remember me" problems - I've been having yet another poke around my computer settings today to try and solve this becuase with the amount of time I spend on gaia it gets really tedious (especially with the failed login attempt bug), but I think I've fixed it... Basically with the newest version(s?) of firefox the gaia toolbar isn't compatible. I don't know how this has an effect, I suppose the toolbar logs in when you open the browser so that the remember me fuction is assumed to be null, but when the toolbar isn't compatible the remember me option doesn't function because it assumes the toolbar is working?

Anyway I suppose for the end-user the technical details are kind of irrelevant. I uninstaled the toolbar and now gaia remembers me again. I'm going to give it a few days to test with my normal computer usage and then I'll post again to confirm this is it does work!

Hope this helps!

I'm also having this problem. Additionally, sometimes the list of people I've searched or traded with appears instead of my usernames.

@ Mindset: Thanks! That works! ^_^

That trade thingy will just be your browser remembering names you entered, it's not really Gaia's fault.

This. I can't log in with Javascript disabled, which is annoying since I used to switch between accounts with Javascript off all the time, so I'm totally not used to it not working.

I seem to recall the error message used to be something like "Must enter a password" a few weeks ago, though, and when I just tried it today it was "Incorrect Login Info. The username or password you've entered is incorrect."

It is Gaia-related though, so I thought it would help to know about it. I do not have similar problems on other sites, which doesn't make me think it's browser-related...

Kabuki I imagine the reason for this is in the design for the website both the username login textbox and the and username to send trade box are named the same thing, therefore the list of remembered values will be the same/mixed. All it needs on gaia's part is a slight name change for one or other of them.

Thanks for backing me up. I figured that was the problem.

I'm not saying thats definately correct but from my programming experience that seems like the best logical explanation... its how when you fill in a form on a new website it still has the drop down list with your email adress etc... because in the page coding the box is named the same as it was on another site~

Also: With my previous post about remember me not rememberig me... I'm notsure if its worked or not... It forgot me when i logged on this morning but remembered me when I got home from work and logged on a second ago. I'll give it another 24 hours and let you all know again! (If you've tried the fix too please do let me/us know if it worked or not!)

Problem?
um,
when i log in, even though i know that the username and password are correct, it says that there was an error EVERYTIME and i have to type in a little code then type the username/password all over again.

All these are affecting me! I would like to be able to check Gaia from my bed, instead of getting up to the computer. Laziness i know, but still will be good for weekends when you dont want to get up.

Me and my mates on Halloween! =) Good times...

I'm not sure if my issue is a login issue or a browser-site compatibility issue. Starting this morning, Gaia will load fine in Internet Explorer, but when I try to go to the site in Firefox, it gives me an error saying "The page isn't redirecting properly."

Looking at the other comments here, I'm wondering if it could be because I had "Remember Me" checked previous to this, or possibly the toolbar issue, thought I don't remember installing the Gaia toolbar.
