Welcome to Gaia! ::

I'm not sure if it qualifies as malicious content, but it sure seems like it.

There's some IQ Tests ad...or something...that is physically redirecting me away from Gaia as I'm navigating around. A previous poster has the exact screenshot of the site. It's happened three times tonight, all three times as I've attempted to try to make a post. It takes me to a black IQ Tests ad where it asks me to complete an IQ test. If I try to backpage or close the window out, it redirects me to a Youtube site instead.

I really dislike getting hijacked to other sites as I'm just trying to navigate Gaia. I'm using Firefox 3.2, I believe (or it's 3.0), on an HP Pavilion PC. Last incident happened about ten minutes ago.

For the record, I agree with Airmaid about the Haunting ad. The words getting cut into the kid's skin seriously grossed me out, and I'm over 21. I think it's a completely inappropriate ad for a site that has underage kids on it.

for the record ive been having the same problem. this i.q.ad was developed by morons.
Found this ad on the Home page right next to the JOIN OUR BOOTY GRAB THIS WEEK notice. The ad is a video of two people enjoying each other's company, and it's very not subtle at all, considering that brand name's rather recognizeable.

Info that might help: I'm using Firefox 3.0 or 3.2, I'm on a PC, I live in Seattle, Washington. I don't know any of the coding stuff that might help you guys.

Okay, it's one of the flash adds, so I'm not sure how to report it. In addition to that it's for Gaia's recent sponsor, The Haunting in Connecticut.

When you write a pm, it's one of those adds to the right, the flash ones (they have verizon, wonderwall, and others). They also show clips for the Haunting movie

Okay, in the scene he was held down on a table with multiple words cut into him already and it focused on his foot where they were currently carving some word onto his foot. The next scene, he was wearing a robe and a woman opened it up and there were words cut into his flesh, all the way up to his neck

I personally find this disgusting and I know I'm not the only one. There are a lot of people who can't stand horror flicks, and I don't think it should be located where people have to see it. I also think it goes beyond the "excessive violence" that isn't allowed in the Rules and Guidelines.

Thank you for your time,

Airmaid

I quite agree and about the Haunting ads. I'm 29 and those ads are WAY too much for me! When will this stop Gaia?

edit as of newer post below - this is incorrect, as i realize now, but it explains train fo thought in incorrect conclusionI do not have live http headers for this, nor do I have a clue which ad it was. Or where on the site, or anything helpful.

However, I feel that it is rather important.

On an XP laptop, using Google Chrome, I was browsing Gaia last night to check birthday well-wishes.

One of the ads resulted in some sort of malicious cookie. I realize this sounds fairly ridiculous and far-fetched, bear with me a moment.

This morning, on trying to use Google to search for stuff [typed via address bar, in multiple browsers], trying to click on the search results page would result in a new window appearing, with various other websites - some were pretty neutral, others were obnoxious ads. All of the browsers had pop-ups disabled, but it was still occurring. It took me a while to realize it was related to the Google search results pages, as there was a slight delay in the new window appearing.

Immediate reaction was scanning for hijacks, nothing. virus, also nothing.

Ended up googling on another machine for a while, found a few posts from last month, as well as over the past few years mentioning the same issue --- the solution is flushing ALL cookies. I had to clear the cookies on ALL of my browsers, which was somewhat distressing, as I had intentionally used different browsers for different tasks, with one for my photography and art related net stuff, so losing all of my staying signed in sucks.

[Had tried clearing cookies on Chrome, as that was browser that I was browsing Gaia on - no change. Also cleared on Safari, which was where I first witnessed the search results pages resulting in a new window with unrequested sites - no change. Unsure if it was in the cookies for Firefox or if it was rebooting that fixed stuff, but is gone now]

Nope, not crazy in the least. It happens to us, on ALL four of our computers, too.

The other day I had an IQ quiz pop in place of where I would be seeing where I was on Gaia instead of a new window. I went to close the browser, but it gave me a prompt that said either click okay to continue the quiz or click cancel. So I clicked cancel and it gave me something, a choose your gender ad.

I keep getting the stupid IQ ads that hi-jack me from Gaia when I go looking around on Gaia for extended periods of time. They are getting annoying. Please figure out who is doing this and blast them to heck. >.<

Just watched the ad. She puts a condom over her entire arm. lol
i get one of the ones that Mumblekins got that says "you have 2 new crushes! we have tracked that one of your buddies from Portland likes you." only i get it almost every where i go on gaia but it hasnt been coming as much as it used to and mine says 8 from Dallas. So yeah that is so annoying for me. I also get lots of IMVU ones.Plus i get alot of stuff about how i win stuff for free.....theres even one where it says get "gold even when your away from your pc!" i havent got that one that much either. So yeah i get alot of bad ads.....there was even one this one time where it showed a completely naked girl and it said "meet hot singles in near Granbury!" she just kinda stood there trying to look hot........if i have any more ill tell......because im kinda sick of getting them.....

there is an imvu 3-d party ad that is appearing and with its background, it flashes a lot of colors fast. i think it could cause seizures if you look at it long enough.
where are the booty ????????

I was posting in the GD like I normally do, and while I was typing out whatever I was going to say, this window popped up with a tunk of noises and stuff and it crashed my compy. It didn't even load up all the way, but the noises were excessively loud. It kinda disturbed me and I'm almost freaking out that it's gonna happen right now if I don't send this really fast.
