Post here with your comments / issues with our new mobile payment system.
UPDATE 7/9:
I've been working with a number of users to see why they can't get their PINs to go through. We're working through with Zong right now, so we'll see where that goes.
The following countries are now supported:
Belgium
Denmark
Finland
Ireland
Norway
Portugal
South Africa
Spain
Switzerland
UPDATE 7/7:
Added the
Official Zong Rollback Question Thread so as to split the traffic. We've cleared a bunch of accounts and are sending a PM to everyone else to let them know the current status.
UPDATE 7/6 8:00pm:
The PMs sent out were confusing to some people. Basically, the idea is this:
- if you have enough GC in your account, we'll just take that
- You can add more now if you want to ensure that you have some in your account
- We'll be doing the simple rollbacks tonight (i.e., everyone that has enough GC)
Everyone asking about more countries: We plan to add more countries soon -- probably this week but maybe next. Pirula is working on a list of the countries that we will support, but it's going to be most of the ones
that our provider supports.
UPDATE 7/6:
Due to some configuration issues by our vendor, some of the transactions on the first day went out without the carrier actually being charged. Unfortunately, this means we'll need to roll back some of the transactions; we've done a temporary trade ban and have sent PMs to everyone that has been affected, and hope to get this resolved as quickly as possible -- we apologize for the inconvenience.
Note that if you use the mobile payment system on 7/3 or any day afterwards you'll be fine -- and if you didn't receive a PM from us, you're fine as well.
UPDATE 12:00pm 7/3: A couple of issues:
- some people are confused about how to use Zong, or where to put the PIN. We'll do a guide with screenshots (but is there some UK customer out there that has the flow that asks you to send GAIA to a certain number? I would love to get screenshots of the UK flow, since it seems to be different for different carriers).
- we've had reports that some people received GC without being charged by their carrier. This looks like a misconfiguration by the third party. We're looking into the situation and should know more later today.
UPDATE 7:00pm: One quick note while I'm reading these responses: You don't get charged until the
PIN is received by Zong. You aren't charged when the PIN is sent, you're charged when the PIN is received; that's how Zong verifies that it's actually your phone. Hopefully that should make a lot of you feel better.
UPDATE 6:30pm: Wow, lots of responses. This is what we get for shipping a new feature right before a long weekend, argh! I'm going through and tabulating responses, and I'll update this post when I have a good sense of what the problems are. I apologize for the glitches in the new system; hopefully we'll have these ironed out in quick order.
If you're impatient, you can contact Zong directly (Hotline: 888-502-6491 or email: support.usa@zong.com), but if you're willing to wait a few days then you can just subscribe to this thread and I'll keep you posted on the latest while we work things out with them. Everything that happens between us and Zong is logged, so please don't worry about getting cheated out of your GC or anything.
Sorry again for the glitches -- I'll keep this thread up to date.
UPDATE 1:30pm: Some users have reported that transactions aren't completing after 15 minutes. Zong has been notified and they have fixed the issue, but they are keeping an eye on it.
