Hello there fellow Gaians.
Do you have items locked in your inventory arranger's house but they don't show as available to place in your home?
Then do I have the solution for you!
mrgreen
Join hundreds of other Gaians for the thrilling experience of contacting technical support!
Meet new and exciting people!
(Okay, mostly just us loonies in this thread. But you may be contacted by the 3rd party support company.)
Experience wonder and anticipation waiting for your issue to be addressed.
(The wait time is currently ~ 1 week, give or take a few days.)
(good news! This is down from the previous wait time of ~ 1 month!)
Gain new features!
(There are a few side-effects of the fix you should know about.)
Perform these easy steps to start on your way to self-fulfillment.
(or, just getting the issue fixed.... anyways!)
whee
If you are unsure if this is actually your issue or not, please post to ask for direction before going through the trouble of submitting a ticket.
Your first troubleshooting step should be to use the 'clear room' option to completely clear your house, then save, and exit your home's design mode.
Then, close all extra Gaia windows that you have open, bring design mode back up, and see if you still have the issue.
question So, what's likely happened is that you had equippable items in your home before some of the older updates. So now you're stuck in glitch limbo. Congrats! Thankfully, this is easy to resolve by submitting a help ticket. In case you're new to the process, here's how.
arrow 1. Grab relevant screenshots. If you really cannot do this, it is okay, but it can help with getting your issue addressed faster.
You'll want to grab your inventory arranger with the house open showing the padlocks...
And then one of your home's inventory, showing the items' non-existence in the MISC tab.
arrow 2. File a ticket.
At the very bottom of the screen are navigation links. Right-click on the one for "Contact Us" and then have the link open in a new window or tab. (You want to keep this thread open, right? wink ) Scroll down to the bottom and in large font you'll see "Still can't find your answer? Click here to contact Customer Support."
That will bring you to the Gaia Help Center, and should bring right up a page that says 'Submit a Ticket".
This screen might take a moment to log you into the 3rd party ticket system, but then it should give you a form to fill out that already displays your username, ID, and registered email address.
for Subject, select General Account Inquiry
for Topics, select Account Status
for Sub Topics, select Issues with Items/Gold
verify your effected account in the field provided
in the field for What Exactly Happened?: tell them that you have items locked in your inventory arranger's house but they don't show as available to place in your home. Feel free to include a link back to this thread or anything else you think is relevant to include.
the date and the rest of the fields do not have * and are not required.
however in the field for 'Where on Gaia did this happen?', select Towns
(this will help the ticket be routed more efficiently)
under Options - You'll have the opportunity to attach those screenshots. If you can't it'll be okay.
under email notification, I would recommend setting this to always. This is only for this singular issue.
Hit Finish! And yay! You're Done! biggrin
arrow 3. Wait. It can take a bit for them to get to your request in the que. Be patient, this used to take at least a month, lucky you!
arrow 3.5. Respond to customer service if queried.
This step may be skipped entirely, but if you do receive a response from the 3rd party tech support that we filed the ticket through, you'll need to reply!
We all have jobs, and it's this guy or gal's job to make sure everyone tries to 'unplug it and plug it back in' before sending your ticket to a specialist. Don't be mean, but yes, it's sometimes a canned response and not exactly relevant to this issue. (Welcome to tech support!) Politely link them back to this thread and explain that it is a known issue with housing and old items before a major update.
arrow 4. Resolution!
You'll come to Gaia one day to a nice notice/PM after having one of those sexy code monkeys on the other side of the screen having burrowed deep into your account to remove and restore your items. You're all fixed! Wasn't that easy, really? 3nodding
So, here's a bit of very useful information concerning the after effects of the 'fix' from one of the previous regulars.
Just to update people, I did get a response to the Help Center ticket I filed for this (so consider filing one if you haven't already), and the stuck items were removed and re-granted. That fixed the overall problem, and I can place or remove the items as I please.
However, now there are a new bunch of bugs:
There are no locks on items at all in the House Storage window after they are placed in the house and saved.
ANY housing items show up in Design mode and are place-able, even if they're in the main inventory or regular storage. House Storage itself can even be "empty". This is only true for items specifically categorized/typed as "housing" in the inventory arranger.
All in-use items can be removed from the account and traded.
Trading/gifting in-use housing items removes them from Design mode (both visually and in the pullout list). And trading/gifting them back makes them reappear where you placed them (assuming you didn't make changes in between).
I tested these a few times to be sure it was not a fluke.
The above are not really a big deal to me personally, but I thought I'd note them as a "secondary bug" to the overall problem, and wanted to post it here in for future reference and in case others have the same issues after any "fixes" done.
Anyway, I hope the rest of you get fixed up quickly. Do file a ticket though!
There you have it! Feel free to reply with questions, or hang out till you get all fixed or whatever.
(For the love of go-gaia read the last few comments before submitting posts on any thread, ever, always.)
