Welcome to Gaia! ::

Pauline seems to have figured it out at least for Avira users. Adding http://api.solvemedia.com/* (which is where the new captchas are originating from) to your exception list should do the trick and allow captcha's through. I'm not sure if this is an issue for people who don't use Avira or not, but it certainly solved my problem.

If you're replying to this thread with the same issue (on a mule or through the web applications, whatever) please also try to help me out and post the browser version you encounter the problem on as well as what antivirus you're using and if this solution worked! I'm trying to compile as much info as I can on this :3 Thanks!

When it started:
Feb 4th roughly one pm EST.

The bug:
Captchas are not appearing in forums and it prevents me from posting unless I wait a half an hour or an hour. I tried commenting on profiles as well as posting in the forums and no captcha area shows up but when I try to post I get "Please fill in the words to submit your post" errors.

Captchas that still work:
Report Captchas

What I've done:
I have the Gaialabs feature "Centered Site" on most of the time but I've tried with this both on and off
I've tried this with the "Disable Ads" feature both on and off (also having the "disable ads" feature set to 'on' but not having any time left)
Logged out and then back in
Cleared cache and cookies
Deactivated ALL Gaialabs features. (and in a desperait attempt, enabled all Gaialabs features)

What works so far:
Just waiting an hour or so before even attempting to post again, but that's shotty at best. After a few times waiting doesn't work, captcha required indefinitly.

The Captcha is showing up with Firefox 7.0.

Browsers I tried everything on:
Firefox (10.0)
Google Chrome (16.0.912.77)
Internet Explorer (9.0.8112.164721)

I'm running:
Windows 7 (64 bit)

Flash version:
10.3.183.5
also 11.1.102.

I had to find one of my old mules to post this as because my main account still cannot post after two hours of being unable to post.
You are not alone, this has been happening to me as well, ever since last Thursday for me.
Youre definitely not alone! I have to post this from the Gaia app on my phone because I cant post on a mule or even a brand new account. Ive done everything you have Carra, and I still cant post. Its very frustrating.

I havent been able to post for the past few days. I just tried to use Opera, but to no avail. :

I really hope this gets fixed. Oddly enough, I can see the captcha just fine when I play Booty Grab, but not when posting.
Carra on my main.

Been locked out since yesterday, captchas still not showing up so the work around trick doesn't seem to be useful in the long-term. However, I am currently on a different computer and the captchas are showing up. I'm going to try to find the difference between the two to see if I can get to the heart of this.

At least the captchas have a sense of humour. "Lock out!" rofl
Let's see.

It worked on Firefox: 7.0.1

On my other computer I'm running Firefox 10.0

But like I said the captchas were not working on at least three browsers, all which should be up to date. Could it be something in the new versions have caused this error with Gaia?

Thanks you two. Do you know the specifications of the browser(s) you tried it with?
I was using FireFox 9.01 before and still had captcha trouble, and now Im using FireFox 10.0. I dont remember what version of Chrome Im using, but its an older one. My IE is at least version 8, but Im pretty sure its 9. Im also on Windows Vista.

I was able to post before using FireFox 9.01 until a few days ago. Then I upgraded and still no captchas.

You said you were able to post on another computer? Huh... Maybe thats why I can post on my phone, but not on my computer. I hope theres a fix found soon. If I find anything out Ill certainly let you know.

After the initial "wow it works!" post I did a bit of digging the computer had an older version of firefox (7.0.1) and that was pretty much the only difference. I saw the captcha there and filled it out so I can post again from my own computer... until the next time I get a forum captcha anyways. I'm starting to think maybe something in the new browser versions borked the captcha coding on Gaia? Or at least that's as close as I can figure...

Maybe I'll see if I can find any older versions of FF on my computer, too. I seem to be able to post on it right now without any problems, the first time in at least three days.

I just noticed now that at the bottom of the message box is a line of text that says:
Browser Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:10.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0

That was never there before. I'm still not sure what's going on, but I'm hoping this captcha thing doesn't rear its ugly head again.
This is also affecting the Event captcha :/
same problem since last week
also, now I can't post anywhere w/my main account, because is asking me to post the captcha words... ¬¬

Do you know what browser and version you're using where the captchas aren't showing up?

That seems to be a product of the Bug report forum since I get it here but no where else on the site. I guess to help people know what versions they're running?

try to post in a profile of a person outside your friendlist... I can't do that either because the captcha >.<
....guys... I think I found the solution
what antivirus are you using??

I just saw my Avira is blocking http:/ / api.solvemedia.com/papi ** /***.js (take it off for security) , this api is the one that charge the captcha box in gaia, and other sites

I had the same problem in tinypic... so I use my firebug to see what was the problem, and found that my avira was blocking it.... will add an exception fro the site and will try again, to see if this can solve it
