METAPLOT UPDATE

The Library was never meant to be found.
It was the curiosity, and perhaps foolishness, of Pippin and Ciara that unleashed the Library's magicks within the world. Since that time, children have slowly been appearing one by one accompanied by their daemons from enchanted books.
These books contain the sins of a woman named Pandora. She is a woman of great power and holds influence over the High Council which oversees the world in which we all live. The Council watches everything, and to keep from being discovered by those who would seek to stop her unending quest for power, Pandora locked away her secrets, her sins, and her wrongdoings within these books.
Just as the Library was never meant to be found, the books were never meant to see the light of day again, but there is a deep, ancient magic within the House and the Library. It is waiting and biding its time. The source of the magic is from what was once a benign entity that has been locked deep down within the very foundation of the House and Library itself. This creature is bound, and is one of the very first of Pandora's sins. In its struggle for survival, it has warped the house and its spirit has become vengeful and angry.
Slowly but surely it lures unsuspecting victims into its illusions and traps, deep down into the Library where the books may be found again. Once read or opened by the hands of another, a child is born. All that remains of the book is an excerpt that is especially pertinent to the child's history.
The only clues to the identity of this entity and of the Library itself, is the Book, but no one has seen it since Pandora arrived several years ago and took it once she realized that her sins were coming back to haunt her. She thought the removal of the Book would stop the awakenings and births, but in truth, she only removed a basic tool of Library, not the spirit itself that haunts it that she has long since forgotten about.
As each child is born and grows, the Library grows with them. It grows stronger with each and every day, and will not stop until all the books upon its shelves have been opened and their contents revealed to the world.

Key Quests
Keys are creative ways to allow your children, regardless of the stage they are at, to encounter a new world. These worlds aren't so much alternate realms that are within existence as they are amazingly elaborate illusions (though some will become "real" in time) orchestrated by the House, Library, and perhaps most importantly --- The Oracle.
These illusions are to be modeled after the introductory "House RPs" in which the children are intially obtained. Whomever holds the key, will be responsible for the role of the "House." Only guardians can obtain and collect the keys. ICly only the Forgotten children are capable of weilding the keys and opening the doors. Some keys will have stipulations or rules associated with them. An example of which would be that a certain event must occur when it is used, a child must be at a certain stage to gain access, or the realm can only be accessed a select number of times, etc.
The purpose of this Halloween event is to introduce the concept of keys into the FD game. Since this is simply an introduction, there are no stipulations associated with these particular keys and every guardian will be allowed one. What you all do with your initial keys is up to you. Group RPs are highly encouraged, but solos are also perfectly acceptable. This event is for you all to make your own.

x. Who is The Oracle?
The Oracle is the entity locked within the House/Library that fuels the illusions and magic that make the House and Library what we know, love, and perhaps fear (at least ICly). The shop's story is going to shift towards discovering this entity (though do note we are a good ways off from that particular event so far). Hints and clues are going to be dropped in shop meta-related updates, RP with GMs, and future arrival RPs.
x. What's the purpose of the keys ICly?
Eventually, the keys will lead to The Oracle --- and perhaps to wherever your child originated (and I don't mean the Library or the books).
x. Are we designing our worlds or do you give us the basis?
These particular worlds you are designing alllll on your own. Future ones will likely have specifics to go along with them.
x. What if we can save the CYO as a PNG but...we can't save it transparent?
That’s fine. I can always get rid of the background in photoshop. <3
x. Can we chat about world concepts here? Maybe get and give ideas?
Absolutely! That is highly encouraged!
x. Do the worlds need to have a resolution, albeit an ambiguous one, like the House arrival RPs kind of did, with the eventual arrival of a child? Or might they be an ongoing thing, a la a certain wardrobe world?
These particular ones for this event can, and probably should be, ongoing. This is ultimately a decision that will be left up to the player.

Halloween Color-Your-Own!
In a fit, it seems the House has unleashed some strange beasts! While they are strange, and perhaps may seem malignant at first glance, they are meant to be messengers. ICly they are to be sent to your children with a message and a key, both of which shall lead them to the House and thus on to a new adventure!

How to Participate
x. Adopt one of the creatures or color your own. (SORRY. Haven't finished the premades yet. Will have up ASAP!)
x. Determine the creature's message -- It should be a single sentence or phrase. It does not (or perhaps should not, even) need to make any sense. It can tie back to your FD, it can be left after the supposed "kidnapping" of the children as a morbid clue to their whereabouts, whatever works best for you and your plots.
x. Get your kid to the House! Have fun with the key.
x. LURKERS: These instrutions for the CYO are for guardians. Lurkers who wish to participate may color as they please, but in order to participate in the RP, you must be invited by a guardian to join in -- please do not beg for this to happen. We shall have events in the future that cater more to lurkers.
x. EVERYONE: You may only color THREE monsters. I refuse to cert more than that.
x. When you've colored your monster(s), please PM them to The Oracle of Ages so that they may be certed. Also include their message -- it goes on the cert!
