Knowledge is power. Power is energy. Energy travels freely through the cosmos.

There will never be a way to accurately pinpoint where, in all of the universes that exist, the first story was told. Any number of infinite planets could have evolved the first species to understand the power of relaying information by some means, to another of their kind. Perhaps it was something small. A few scratches in the sand. A flap of wings warning others of incoming danger. A song, filled with the memory of mourning loss. Somewhere, far and unseen, a mind woke up and saw potential in sharing their knowledge with another. There, in the sand - or sea - or air - the first tiny wave of inspiration was born. There, it began its long and continuous journey. It left its own atmosphere, and traveled invisibly through the cosmos. It snowballed with potential as it witnessed the birth and death of countless stars, and longed to share the tale with a willing ear. It floated on, in the dark of space, unhindered by mass, warped by space itself. And it would inspire any willing mind it touched, until the end of time.

The Wisteria Gate sought to harness that unused energy, in the grandest undertaking known to life itself. The idea was newborn, untested and unproven. Harnessing the power of storytelling - of inspiration itself, sounded like a fairytale. Most science begins as magic, and this was no exception. It was the grandest story ever told, from the moment the idea was born.

It came to The Designer, at first. They themselves had no names, they were only conceptions, cloaked in the energy of creation. The Designer imagined it, all in black and white, inked out like a sketch or a blueprint. The inspiration was apocalyptic - so dense and powerful that it created a barren world, all on its own. Barren, but ripe with potential.

The Painter saw that potential, and prepared to use it. It plucked the inked design out and warped it, stretched it, filled it with color and light and energy. The Wisteria Gate rose up, shaking the foundations of the barren land around it, and its emergence was its own cataclysmic event. The inspiration The Painter poured into the Wisteria Gate changed the face of the entire world around it. The seas were filled with blue, blue water. The ground shook and cracked and broke. The once barren land turned into a nirvana of beauty - devoid of just one thing.

Life.

Deep in the Library of the Wisteria Gate, energy was being harnessed. The Cloaks coined this particular new form of energy Inspira, and their hope was that the Wisteria Gate was strong enough to fill the world with the only thing they were not strong enough to inspire on their own. The gate captured all of the waves of energy traveling past - waves just like the one created by the very first sharing of a story. The supply was infinite - everywhere, in every corner of the universe, stories were being told. Primitive species were drawing crude scratches on the walls of caves to entertain, or to immortalize. Radio waves carried excited voices sharing the details of an event. Hands were typing furiously on computers, weaving their own intricate tales of worlds beyond their imagination. Waves and waves of Inspira, took off from these creative minds, lifting into the atmosphere to travel the cosmos just like waves of light. And just like the twinkle of a star seen from an unfathomable distance, the Wisteria Gate saw those waves of energy as they finally reached their world, and transformed them into the most glorious creation of all time.

Life.

Wisteria's Gate is a channel, a path which continuously searches for and takes in the energy that passes through it, created from stories told from all corners of the universe. Any story can cause a ripple that may travel into the gate - which transforms this energy into Inspira, and uses it to create the life that lives on this planet, one by one. Any of the residents of the world could have been created from any of an infinite number of stories, and their features will reflect the story they came from. Inspira created from a story told about a rainbow, could create a rainbow deer. Inspira transformed from a story about goblins, could end up giving birth to a goblin themed centaur. The possibilities have only one limit - your imagination.

            * Eggs are only created from breeding. This holds true for all species, not just deer!

          Youngling Stage
            * Young deer may appear from hatched eggs, or from Inspira itself. This is especially true if their story involved children!

          Adult Stage

          One Stage
            * Centaur have one stage, unless they are bred, at which point they will have an egg stage.

          Rarity
            * Centaur are rarer than deer, since it takes more Inspira to create them. They may also require a more detailed story!

          Rarity
            * Satyr are rarer than deer, since it takes more Inspira to create them. They are also more commonly created from stories that are established cosplay, than from a general idea.

Wisteria consists of three major continents, two polar icecap continents, and several smaller masses of land considered islands. Each continent has a major climate area, with obvious extremes on either end of the continent.

Eroasa:

The continent of Eroasa is considered the main continent of Wisteria, and is its most populated. The gate itself is located here, which accounts for most of the population. The gate is located in the middle of a flat stretch of land called the Sacred Meadow, which is uninhabitable by law to any except the Gatekeepers. The north and south entrances to the sacred meadow are blocked off by high mountain ranges, making the only safe and viable method in and out of the meadow to be the western front. The western path into the meadow leads straight towards the gate, and is heavily guarded by the Gatekeepers. These are well trained individuals that earn their rank through trusted service in the field of justice, and are hand picked by a Cloak to rise to the rank. They alone are allowed to reside in the outer fields of the Sacred Meadow, as their life's work is to protect the meadow and the gate itself.

Directly to the west of the Sacred Meadow is a small mountain range that homes the highest peak in all of Wisteria, named Gaen Mountain. The peak reaches past the clouds, and is impossible to get to through normal means. Many mountain dwellers live in the lower caves that surround this giant mountain.

South of Gaen Mountain and west of the Sacred Meadow is the densest population, a massive village known as Calilia. Calilia is so densely populated that it could be considered its own country, spanning through almost half of the entire continent. Most creatures who are born from the gate travel here, and make their home in one of the many varied neighborhoods and cultures that have spawned in Calilia. Homes range from small huts to big sturdy buildings made of brick, depending on the neighborhood.

The lower half of the continent is all forest land, populated by naturalists who tend to turn away from the city life. This forest is lovingly called Haven of Nayssa, and size-wise takes up more than half of the continent.

Agroemma:

Agroemma is the second largest continent on Wisteria. It is only reachable by boat from Eroasa - it's faster to take a direct boat on Eroasa's western shore and wrap around to reach Agroemma's east. Still, many choose to make the journey through the Middle Ocean, because it allows for pit stops on several islands between the two continents, making the journey less tedious and and more exciting.

At the northwest tip of Agroemma is the Observatory. The Observatory is actually several large rooms carved straight out of the rock of an unnamed cliffside, filled with countless numbers of books and scrolls. Most of these are stories, transcribed from the creature that created them - but many are also historical documents, as well as geographical and technical information about the world, as well as the known universe. The Observatory is maintained by a small group of intellectuals called the Stargazers, who are hand picked from the many scholars who dedicate their lives to the Observatory. They are chosen by a Cloak to head the massive amount of transcribing and collection that occurs there. The Observatory does have a massive telescope, a gift from the Cloaks to those Wisterians who choose to look up, rather than ahead.

The locations, trajectories, and movement of all the star systems viewable through this telescope are very carefully documented and studied at length by the Stargazers, who consider themselves the experts on astronomy and physics.

To the east of the Observatory is a city called Thaulia. This village is somewhat of a technological haven, as many of its citizens work and study at the Observatory. The technology level of this particular city goes no farther than what we would consider the Victorian era.

The middle of Agroemma is riddled with many long stretches of mountains, making the trip from North Agroemma to South Agroemma a treacherous and difficult one.

Past the mountain ranges, the southern half of Agroemma has some of the most temperate and comfortable climate in all of Wisteria. This land is mostly meadows, and has no set village or city, but is still populated. Farms and cottages can be found intermittently throughout the meadows of Southern Agroemma, and it is the largest producer of Wisterian food export. Major tradeways are charted from its eastern borders, into the Haven of Nayssa, in Eroasa. Traders and farmers who come from this realm seek wealth and prosperity, but there are those who are born with the gift to care for the land and sea with special prowess, and if they prove themselves worthy are granted the title of Golden by a Cloak, and entrusted with the safekeeping of the land (or sea) in order to keep Wisteria's food industry prosperous and plentiful. Their special gifts (and how to receive them) are shrouded in great mystery.

Frowyr:

Nestled between the two major continents, south of the Middle Ocean, lies a smaller continent called Frowyr. This continent has a small northern coastline of lush greenery, but the majority of the continent is covered in long stretches of desert wasteland.

Despite the harsh climate, many do live on this continent, adapting in any way necessary to survive. Hand-made oasis' have been built, scattered across the desert. Very small, tightly knit communities sprout around the oasis, almost religiously caring for the small area that gives them a means to survive.

A small, but skilled community of fighters hail from here, known as the Exile. Little is known about the training of the Exile, or who leads them; but many of the Exile are called forth by the Cloaks, to guard the Gate - and refuse.

Islands and Icecaps:

Wisteria is littered with tropical islands, some of which are empty, while some are filled with lush jungles and native villagers. Many of these islands are only known by name to those who live there, but the major ones are:
-Onamar, located in the Middle Ocean, directly above the continent of Frowyr. Onamar is a temperate climate, well known for its fruit export.
-Onoalia, located just off the western coast of Thaulia. Onoalia is mostly uninhabited save for wildlife, but is easily viewable from the Observatory.
-Oloma, located just south of Onoalia. Oloma is a wild, untamed jungle. The natives there live a primitive life unhindered by things like science or technology, and remain mostly undisturbed.
-Lareliand is the biggest span of land still considered an 'island', though there is much debate over whether this land should be granted the title of continent. Lareliand is a narrow strip of land that stretches almost completely towards the southeast corner of Frowyr, with many tiny islands in between the stretch connecting the two. The climate is cold, with only two or three months of summer, but their summers are devastatingly hot.

Both poles of the globe house long stretches of ice covered land, home to creatures of Wisteria who thrive only in the coldest of climates. The northern icecap is Craen, and the southern one is named Fienn.

The roles of a diverse community are many and varied; all manner of skills and talents are sought after, and paid well for their services. However, there are five particular paths in Wisteria that are considered exalted goals. For four of these paths, citizens from every corner of the world who possess certain traits and favorable dispositions are hand picked from their normal lives, by the creators themselves - Inked Cloak, and Painted Cloak. One path diverges from the chosen exalted roles that the Cloaks request, however. They are the Exile, and they choose their own.

Some of the many characteristics of those that are usually tapped to be exalted are listed below - the lists are a guideline, meant to help you choose your characters path from its beginnings. The staff are open to plotting with you on your path to getting your character exalted with an appropriate job of your choosing, and helping you find which of the five paths that choice may belong to.

The following five Exalted Job Classes are a heavy roleplay perk, but by no means are they mandatory! Roleplay is not mandatory at Wisteria, but it is necessary in order to obtain one of the five Exalted Job Classes - all of which come with their own special image edit.

Gatekeepers
Gatekeepers are chosen by the Cloaks, from those citizens of Wisteria who have shown a determination to uphold moral code and law, as well as serve and protect those who may need it. The protectors and defenders of the meek and downtrodden as well as those who respect and enforce rules. A peaceful creature is usually not considered for the role of Gatekeeper, but neither is a violent one - the Cloaks look for balance, and a true sense of justice in the heart of a potential Gatekeeper. They are the only Wisterians allowed to live in the Sacred Meadow, and they are rewarded with the gifts of unmatched fighting skills and/or destructive magical power.

The Golden
If Gatekeepers are the defenders of the people, then the Golden are the defenders of the land. These special creatures are usually more in tune with nature than with the other Wisterians around them, and their special connection with the land does not go unnoticed. Usually, Golden are found when they are young - as they are already born with a small ability, such as to aid a dying plant in a slow recovery, or purify a small body of water. If the Cloaks find the spark of nature within one of these children, they are watched carefully from afar until they are grown. It is not only their ability, but also their own personal nature and disposition that must remain untainted by pollution and doubt. If chosen, they become travelers, roaming all of Wisteria and aiding the land and sea in flourishing. There are many different kinds of Golden; those who are in touch with the land, those who are in tune with the sea, and those who focus on keeping the major agricultural trade routes safe and hazard free. These last are called Golden Defenders, and they live most of their lives on the open sea - a trade boat usually has at least one defender on board.
All Golden abilities are enhanced when they are chosen by the Cloaks to help Wisteria flourish.

Stargazers
Those who choose to dedicate their lives to intellectual studies have a chance at being chosen to be a Stargazer. Stargazers live in the Observatory, they care for it and fill it by transcribing stories and history and filling its halls with an infinite number of books and scrolls. They look to the stars, and their own sciences, for answers. They are inventors, scientists, and creators. For an intellectual who believes that their greatest achievements lie not in doing, but in recording and discovering, the role of Stargazer would be an honor.
Once chosen as a Stargazer, the inevitably solitary life is enhanced with the blessings of the Cloaks - the mind is awakened to new possibilities, sight is extraordinarily enhanced with capabilities not unlike that of the telescope and microscope, and they are gifted with the unique ability to transcribe their thoughts directly onto paper without writing.

The Joyful
Among the Cloaks, it is Painted who has the most appreciation for how important entertainment is. The Joyful could be considered a pet project, conceived at a time where Painted felt the world needed more laughter. To bring a smile to a child's face or a gasp of awe from an audience, filled a need that only Painted truly recognized. For those who have an exceptional artistic or entertaining ability, and use them to enlighten and improve the lives of those around them, Painted blesses them with enhancements to their natural abilities. A singer may be given a voice that can blossom the air around them with color. An artist may be able to paint with sound. Painted gifts are usually eccentric and strange, but they have produced some of the greatest, most loved entertainers of Wisteria. They bring a sense of magic and wonder to the world.

The Exile
Little is known about the Exile, by those who do not live as one of them. The Exile are an elite band of fighters that acquired their skills on their own, and they defend the lands of Frowyr. They are masters of sand travel, and surviving in the harsh desert climate of their home. They are protectors, defenders, and vicious fighters. Some have claimed that they have seen the Exile do strange, dark magic to deter visitors, but this is merely rumor and speculation.
The Cloaks have, at times, attempted to call forth one of the Exiles and exalt them to the role of Gatekeeper. As of now, all have refused.

          How?
            * The mechanics of breeding are much like that of the creatures themselves. The couple simply need to travel to the gate, and tell it a story, together. This will create the egg(s)!

          Who?
            * Breeding can occur between two of the same species. Any two deer can breed, any two centaur, etc.

          How many?
            * Breeding will produce between one and three eggs, the amount of which is rolled by the artist. The look of the babies will reflect both parent, and is also fully up to the artist to create!

          Requirements?
            * You must win an open slot by one of our artists! The methods and pricing of winning a slot are varied depending on the contest!

            * Your couple does not need to be permanently mated, and can mate as many times as you win slots. It's all a matter of sharing a good story with someone and creating something beautiful with it!

          Where?
            * A list of any open artist slots is listed below, and will also be advertised in thread when the opening occurs.

          Cosplays?
            * Cosplays can only be won through auctions at this time, so bred pets cannot have full cosplay. They may have elements of parents that were cosplays, however, but these will be minimal.
