4.7.14 - Thread Established!
User Image
Clan Law

* Respect shop owners, staff, and patrons. Do not hassle others for their cats. Do not badger colorists to open for customs. Do not discourage others from participating in events. Do not make people feel guilty if they win 'that one cat' you really wanted.

* Understand that real life takes priority. Sometimes things happen in life and shop staff may be away from gaia for a few hours, days, weeks at a time. Hopefully we will, in time, have plenty of people to keep this thread alive all the time, but for now, bear with us.

* Payment/Trades for won cats/customs should be made promptly, usually within 24 hours of winning/ordering after the agreements have been made and details settled.

* After winning/customing a cat, please post all information for Certing in the Certing Thread WITHIN ONE WEEK OF WINNING, and allow up to 10 days for your Cert to be set up. If it has been more than 10 days, feel free to PM Catching Paper Stars directly about your cert.

* Stay in character in RP. Try to be true to your cats' personality, and remember, you're building a story. Things done in one RP may have an affect on future RPs as well. Please do not god-mode, control other players cats, or auto-hit/kill others characters (unless it has been pre-arranged with the other players). SLIGHT exceptions to this may be with warriors training new apprentices that may not yet know how to fight, or cats that do not live by the code encountering weaker cats, but again, SLIGHT exceptions. It's very rude to not give your RP partner a chance to counter an 'attack', and in many cases, your hits may land anyway. Let everyone have the same amount of fun, because no one like to just keep on losing in battle! (We may incorporate a more fair dice/hit points based method of battling once we get into the meta plot)

Warriors Code

* Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.

* Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory.

* Elders, queens, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders. If any warrior or apprentice is sick or injured, they may eat while the elders, queens, and kits are eating.

* Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.

* A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.

* Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.

* A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.

* The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires or is exiled.

* After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.

* A Gathering of all four Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time.

* Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.

* No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different Clan.

* The word of the Clan Leader is the warrior code.

* An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his/her battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense.

* A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.

Certs

Each cert will include the cat's gender, names through their stages, their clan, and owner/player.

Names will read starting with their Kit name, Apprentice name, and Warrior name, or in the case of kittypets, their Twoleg name (and following names if they apply).

Clan are represented by the clan symbol, as well as alternate colored backgrounds for each clan (Thunder is a yellow/gold, Wind is a grey/tan, Shadow is a dark purple/blue, River is a cobalt blue, and Sky is a light blue.)

Lore

Five clans live divided.

Five clans thrive.

Five clans leave, united,

To keep themselves alive.

Many moons have passed since the last Greenleaf, a warm and thriving time for all of the clans. The last gathering of Greenleaf was the last time the long time leaders of all five clans were able to stand together on the great rock in peace. The first shed leaves of Leaf-Fall brought with them the whitecough as it usually did, the chill air bearing down harshly on the weakest of the clans. The time to gather fresh-kill was upon them, but soon whitecough turned to green, and by the next gathering many kits and elders were lost.

Every clan felt the toll of the illnesses, Windclan and Shadowclan the most with the loss of their leaders to the terrible illness. The gathering came and went, borders patrolled by the five clans strongest warriors, but as the days grew colder, something changed. Fresh-kill was soon no better than crowfood and all that ate it became feverish. It fetid queens milk and maggot-gut spread. Only those that refused to eat were able to keep their strength and as the first snow began to fall, bringing an early leafbare, three leaders and their most able bodied warriors held council.

Thunderclan had lost their leader the night before, their current deputy reluctant to take over just yet as the clan mourned, and Skyclans leader, clinging to the last of nine lives could not make the journey to the gathering. The gathering lasted from sun down, past moonhigh, and well into the chill hours of morning when dew had created tiny crystals at the tips of every whisker. The time had come to move the clans. The land was polluted with plague. Skyclans leader would not hear of the plan.

Every able bodied warrior between the clans worked as one to aid the ill, carrying kits and hunting to feed the now small group of cats. The greater good of all trumped clan pride as they left their home lands in search of somewhere new, somewhere clean.

Within the first moon of their journey, Riverclans former leader spent his last life, joining Starclan to watch over the remaining cats journeys.

Though their numbers were few, it seemed they had finally escaped the plagued lands, and now needed only to find their new homes...

Ranks and Ages
(All basic lineart is unisex for now)

User Image

Kit - A kitten younger than six moons.
Kits from Flatsales will start at five moons old and will take about 10 days before becoming an apprentice.
Kits from Breedings will start at zero moons old and will take two months to grow to apprentice age.

User Image

Apprentice - A cat at least six moons old, and training to be a warrior (or a Medicine cat.)
Apprentices will take anywhere from one month to six months to become a warrior, based on thread activity, RP accomplishments, and consulting with the clans leader to see if the apprentice is ready.

User Image

Warrior - A mature cat who has completed his or her warrior training. A she-cat is considered a warrior when she is not currently expecting or nursing a tom's kits.
--Mentor - A cat who is currently training an apprentice.
--Queen - A she-cat with kits to take care of or who is pregnant with kits, or stays in the nursery helping other queens even though they have no kits.
Warriors will remain warriors until they are either promoted to Deputy/Leader, resign as a Warrior to become a Medicine Cat (through a quest RP), or become an Elder due to Injury, Retirement, or their player becomes inactive (Inactive elders will join Star Clan after 3 months of inactivity. You CAN NOT return from Star Clan).

User Image
Medicinecat Apprentice Lines coming soon~

Medicine Cat - A cat who heals injuries and/or illnesses, who is skilled with herbs, leaves and natural cures and sometimes receives special signs or prophecies from StarClan.
Medicine Cats MAY fight as warriors, but only in extreme cases. Medicine Cats may not go on patrol or hunt during peaceful times. A cat will remain a Medicine Cat until they become an Elder, or join Star Clan.

User Image
Deputies will have Custom Drawn Lines

Deputy - A warrior who is second in command to the leader, helping the leader in their tasks and replacing them after their death or resignment. They organize patrols and make reports to the leader, and are known to be frequently given apprentices.
A Warrior may be appointed as a Deputy through a consensus between the RP Moderators, Colorists, and Clan Leader, after an RP requirement has been met (to be determined). A Deputy may, in time, become a Leader, or co-leader, of their respective clan.

User Image
Leaders will have Custom Drawn Lines (Click for Larger)

Leader - A cat who controls the entire Clan. A leader is granted nine lives by StarClan so they "can be first in every battle and last to take a piece of fresh-kill" basically giving them extra time to serve and lead their Clan.

User Image

Elder - Cats who cannot hunt or fight anymore, sometimes due to injury, loss of sight, sickness, or are just too old to do their warrior duties. They are treated with great respect in the Clan. The apprentices in the Clan take fresh kill to them, pick out their fleas, and change their bedding.
Elders will automatically join Star Clan after 3 years have passed in real time (1 year in game = 4 months real time, one season per month), but may also Star Clan when they themselves are ready. A cat neglected by their player, however, will become an elder after 3 months of inactivity. (Inactive elders will join Star Clan after 3 months of inactivity. You CAN NOT return from Star Clan)

Clan Life

Time
The year is split into four seasons, New-leaf(spring), Greenleaf(summer), Leaffall(autumn), and Leafbare(winter). Each season lasts roughly three moons (one moon is about one month). For us, each moon is roughly 10 real-time days, giving us 3 full years in the warriors world in each real-time year.

Kits will typically spend the first six moons with their mothers in the nursery until they are appointed as apprentices to a warrior mentor. The time for an apprentice to become a warrior all depends on the apprentice's ability to learn the warrior code and prove themselves a capable hunter and fighter.

New-leaf is the best time for kits to be born. The prey that is scarce during leafbare is once again plentiful, and it is easy to provide food for the queens that look after them. Newleaf can be a danger, though, as the thawing frost can easily cause floods.

Greenleaf is a prosperous time for all, but may also bring early floods or drought as starclan sees necessary.

Leaffall is a hunters friend, the golds and reds of the fallen leaves making for the best camouflage, and it is the last chance before the snow comes to get fat on fresh-kill.

Leafbare is the hardest time for every clan. Prey becomes scarce, hiding well beneath the snow. The waters freeze and the fish are lost until new-leaf.

Names

The long version can be found here on the Warriors Wikia.

The naming of cats will be very similar to naming in the books. Clan cat names will consist of two word names (usually no more than three sylables, but exceptions can be made). The first name is the name given to them by their mother(owner), often based on some distinction of the kittens markings, the events of their birth, or, more rarely, something less specific. For Clan cats, the first name should reflect something natural, or common to their 'wild' heritage.

First name Examples
Fire-, Grey-, Rust-, Long-, Squirrel-, Leaf-, Lightning-, Snow-, Storm, Holly-, Cloud-, Dust-, Tiny-, Sharp-, Lion-, Swift- and so on.

Poor First name Examples

Jake-, Max-, Princess-, Dragon-, or other 'modern' or 'human' based names.

The second name of a Clan cat represents their rank. The suffixes -kit, -paw, and -star are reserved specifically for kittens, apprentices, and leaders, respectively. Names for Warriors and Medicinecats are more diverse and chosen by the clan leader, however, often reflecting something about how that cat has lived so far, accenting a personal quality. This is not a set in stone rule, as a cat(the owner) may request to have a more specific name.

Last name Examples
-tail, -heart, -foot, -claw, -stripe, -pelt, -storm, -eye, -leaf, -fang, -ear, -frost, -fall, -stream, -flower, -wind and so on.

Kittypet names are much more lax, and should be a name any human could give a cat. Some kittypet queens, however, may name their kits something other than what a human will call them, and thus a kittypet may carry two names, or whichever name they choose.

Kittypets, Loners, and Rogues

User Image

Kittypet – A domesticated pet cat. Often looked down on by any clan cats with extreme prejudice.

User Image

Loner – A cat that lives by itself and doesn't defend its territory. Loners will typically live closer to Twolegs, and are much more peaceful than rogues.

User Image

Rogue – A usually hostile cat who does not have a permanent home, roams around, and does not care about crossing Clan boundaries.

These are three special classes of cat. They share no allegiance with any clan, but in turn, will usually gain no help from any clan, either.

Breeding

'Stars Breedings | 'Kittys Breedings | Silent's Breedings | Starrys' Breedings | Eauo's Breedings |
'Terriers' Breedings | Yushis' Breedings | Days' Breedings | MewMews' Breedings

---------
Breedings very by Artist. Check their threads for pricing and more information.
---------

Breedings will require one queen and up to four toms. A queen can kit a litter from a few partners, but each kit will only reflect one pairing.

Queen (Q) + TomA, TomB, and TomC would result in kits QA, QA, QB, and QC, respectively.

In the event there are more toms than kits produced, the colorists may choose to fudge the genetics. Example, Kit QAC, and will more or less be a chimera twin, where two genetically different cats are born as one (yes this is a real thing in nature, and it’s pretty darn cool biggrin )

A queen that has just produced a litter CAN NOT breed again until her babies have become apprentices. Toms, however, can breed at any time.

MedicineCat's Shop

The den is closed

It is a MedicineCat's duty to see to the injured and aid when they can. They have a great knowledge of the herbs, roots, and berries of the wilds, and know of many ways they can help a cat in need.

User Image Queens Nettle is a great help for any she-cat that finds trouble in bearing kits. It is an edible concoction made up of Nettle, Red Raspberry Leaf, Red Clover, and Oatstraw. (add one 4-sided dice to your litter roll. + 20K to breeding costs. Check colorist's thread for availability.)

User Image
Hiring

Hiring is OPEN
Please send any applications directly to Catching Paper Stars via Note

We are NOT hiring at the moment, however, we may be open to shop moderators, RP moderators, and additional Colorists in the future, as well as a possible Certist or two. Colorists and Certists MUST use either PainttoolSai, Photoshop, or Gimp, or another program that can use .SAI or .PSD files.

Shop Moderators will be expected to keep the shop alive via light roleplay or simple conversations, as well as help set up and run events/flatsales/auctions when the main colorists/owners are not present. Pay will be 5-10% of event sales, depending on the shop mods actual involvement with the event. If the event is fully run by the colorists, and the shop moderator(s) had no part in it, the Shop Mod pay will go to the colorist (This is mostly for very small/quick flatsales that take minimal set up and are over right away). Shop Moderators may ALSO need to assist in organizing customs, keep owners/clan lists tidy in the shop and guild, and help with rules updates and answering questions as needed.

Requirements: At least 3 months previous moderator work with another shop, recently active if possible. There is no formal application set up, just let us know what you've done, what your daily/weekly gaia time is, and any other information you think we should know.

RP Moderators will be expected to keep the guild active, encourage interaction with new members, help keep track of active quest RPs, and help keep tally on completed RPs. Keeping tally on completed RPs are ALSO the job of the RPers themselves. RP Moderators will also be mainly in charge of assisting with any conflict between RPers solely related to the groups RP. Anything NOT specificly related to RP (i.e., someone keeps godmoding would be valid. Bringing an outside problem from another group/thread and letting it upset other members as well is not and should be sent out of group to be handled between the two individuals.) Pay will be 5-10% of event sales, based on how active in the guild you are. Simply starting a thread and letting it die out will not count as being active. the main point of being an RP moderator here is to keep the guild alive.

Requirements: At least 3 months previous moderator work with another shop, recently active if possible. There is no formal application set up, just let us know what you've done, what your daily/weekly gaia time is, and any other information you think we should know.

Colorists will be expected to color AT LEAST 4 cats per month/event for flatsales (kit and apprentice, and elder, then the adult after the new owner has chosen if they'd like the bulkier warrior or sleeker warrior style, or if they quest to become a medicine cat.) Leader art will be taken care of by Catching Paper Stars. Colorists will also need to have ready at least 3 Special Event cats, which may start at any level (Kit, Apprentice, Warrior, or Elder) except Medicine Cat or Leader. Lineart Edits are NOT required, but IF done, must be up to par with the lineart and shading, and must be OK'd before posted. Pay for Colorists will be 70-100% of their event sales, based on how much the moderators have assisted with the event and in the guild.

Requirements: Ability to cleanly color established linework. You do not need previous experience in a B/C shop, but if you have it, it would greatly help your chances to get hired on. Send us examples of your COLORING skils, be they flat color or full color, but remember we're only looking into flat coloring skills. Drawing/Line Edits may be submitted as well, but are not necessary.

If we like your work, we will send you a test template from kit to apprentice to warrior (same coloring for all three) for examples of your work on our lines, as well as a mock breeding with 4 kits (kits OR apprentices only, you do not need to color both for that)
