you're going to lose a lot of those small details when you resize it, and it'll probably look better in the end without the blending effect. The final product will be like a fourth that size, so pins generally need to be pretty basic shapes without a lot of little detail work.

I like the basic idea, but I'd suggest cleaning up the edges a bit and using a couple of whiskers on each side instead of the bunch of fine lines that you currently have. As DHS says, you're going to lose detail when it's shrunk to pin size. Definitely don't use the edge effect - think paper cutout rather than shaded picture.
