The Story Of Halloween Town

Hundreds of years ago, a creature called Jack Skellington presided over the town of Halloween.

This is not his story, but it is his world.

As years passed and Halloween's successes and failures garnered attention both good and bad, the town found itself with more
monsters, ghosts, and other creepy-crawlies than it knew what to do with. In order to accommodate the constant influx of new
blood [and the bloodless as well], the borders of the town slowly started to edge their way outward and outward until it was no
longer a town but a city; no longer a city but a state; no longer a state but a country. Instead of remaining the tight knit group it
had always been before, it was suddenly an entire world unto itself.

It was wonderful and it was awful. As large as it was, the people of Halloween found themselves at odds, bored and restless,
grumpy and useless, other people taking the jobs that they might once have filled. In a land full of strange creatures, it was
difficult to be especially strange, to set oneself apart from the crowd. In order to do this, the inhabitants of Halloween started
venturing out into the fleshy world to toy with the human beings and garner the most potent resource they could think of: Fear.

But even here there were problems. Two ghosts found themselves fighting for the same terrified child, huddled under its covers,
and the ensuing mix up would leave the girl laughing instead of weeping. A monster would step home into its closet only to find
a smelly creature had taken over its most comfortable seat in the corner. A demon would lay a clever plan to trap a human's
soul through a nefarious deal, and another would come in and cancel out all the good that he'd done.

It was time for regulation. As much as the people of Halloween hated rules and orders, they realized the importance of
organization. Laws were instituted: no traveling without a passport, to limit the numbers out and about at any given time, and
in order to get that passport, knowledge was needed. Knowledge that could be acquired only from schools.

And one school above all the rest...

Amityville Academy.





Yet as they excelled at what they did best, teach those weak in Fear to be stronger, they found
themselves attracting rather unwanted attention. For the humans who had spent centuries being victimized,
could one blame them for simply defending themselves and fighting back? As Amityville teaches those who
live in Halloween to excel at Fear, Deus Ex Machina was created by humans, humans in tune with Fear, Hunters
to extinguish the darkness before it is too late.

Halloween

Amityville Academy is the oldest and most prestigious of Halloween's schools. Generations of students have walked it's halls only to later become some of society's most prominent citizens. With a little time and effort, students here can not only acquire the knowledge and passports needed to enter the fleshy world, but can also become as Fear-rich as these most famous of Halloween frightmasters.

Classrooms

The staff of Amityville includes a number of teachers dedicated to bringing out the best of the worst aspects of their student. With a wide variety of courses available, students will be able to create a curriculum custom-fit to their particular needs. The addition of clubs catering to specific student wants and needs makes it easy to indulge in even the strangest of hobbies.

Dorms

Students are allotted dorms according to their species, as to cater to their personal comforts. Each dorm is separated and contained in a unique environment, and kept to its own private area of the Academy, both to aid in concentration and to encourage rivalries. Students entering other species' dorms after hours can lead to disciplinary measures.

The Human World


The largest portal between Halloween and the Human World lies right within what is commonly known to humans as "The Bermuda Triangle". Situated in the middle of "nowhere" lies an island covered entirely by fog, home to Deus Ex Machina, a facility dedicated to protecting their world from extinction of their kind.


Missions


All Deus Ex Machina Hunter trainees are required to partake in missions. They can either be solo or larger group dispatch missions, the latter usually only sent to apprehend unusual quantities of Fear in the Human World. Otherwise, newer Trainees missions are always set by their superiors, usually their faction leader, attendance to large mission assignment classes is mandatory for beginning Hunter trainees.



Dorms


Deus Ex Machina dorms are very small and "travel" sized. They only have room to accomodate the bare essentials as most Hunter trainees are on the field engaged in missions instead of spending time lazing around in dorms. All Hunters are required to currently be on at least one mission.

All creatures of Halloween (and beyond) can be classified into six groups, each one with their unique species characteristics and special abilities.





Demon

Halloween's noble fiends, these prideful souls were considered the 'original' denizens of
Halloween. They still consider themselves one step above and beyond the other groups,
flaunting their wealth and status. You can learn more about them here!

Notable subclasses of demons include: Incubus/Succubus, Nergal, Fire Demons



Ghost

The dead whose spirits were unable to move on. They are often seen as those with a drive
but no purpose Most ghosts are unfriendly conversation makers though, preferring to be left
alone. Some more benign ghosts use their powers to bless others. You can learn more about them here!

Notable subclasses of ghosts include: Wraiths, banshees, dopplegangers, spirits.


Reaper

Human-like creatures infused heavily with magic. Most choose to attack through the means
of combining their raw magic with a weapon, they are generally the most intelligent of the
five species. Reapers like to stick together and help each other out. You can learn more about them here!


Notable subclasses of reapers include: Witches, Warlocks, Death (Personified)


Undead

Those who died and were brought back by some form of magic. While they may be lacking
in appearance, they make it up for their raw physical strength. However at the end of the day,
undead might need some help... being patched up. For some reason, they are unloved by a
lot of other species, despite being neutral as a whole. You can learn more about them here!

Notable subclasses of undead include: Zombies, Frankenstein, Vampires


Monster

The catch-all of Halloween's creatures, everything that is too strange or rare to fit into any
other category. Monsters come in various shapes and sizes, though their physical prowess
can compete almost with those of the Undead. They pride themselves in speed and stamina,
using their claws, fangs, whatever their form provides to give them the upper hand. You can read more about them here!

Notable monsters include: Werewolves, Kelpi, Grims



Hunters

Not exactly an actual resident of Halloween, these are instead the strangest of all groups:
Humans who have developed a keen awareness of Fear that wield strange sentient
weapons. Their purpose? To protect humankind of course! You can learn more about them
here!

Instead of specific sub-species, Hunters are assigned to certain groups, each group being
tasked to different special assignments.

The Horsemen:

From the far reaches of Halloween, to where they could almost be called from another
"dimension" entirely live the Four Horsemen Clans. Each horsemen elects its special Rider, who
leads their clan to pillage and destroy the world. While their powers are a unique mix of almost
all Halloween species, they also are considered the most transient of them all, spending as
much time in the Human World as they do in their homeland clans.

There are only four horsemen clans: Conquest, Famine, Death, and War

Roleplay: Student battles!



Student battles: The school motto is "Scare, or be scared". Fear is the most important
factor: and as students grow, they become scarier and more respected by their spooky
community. It's a monster eat monster world, and everyone wants to be the Spook
King or Queen of Halloween! Fight on! It's a monster eats monster world!

School Clubs: The school insists on MANDATORY student clubs after classes. It's up
to the student which club they want to attend: heck, they can even start their own club,
as long as there's more than one person in it. A festival is put up every year to show off
the current clubs...or something like that.

Personalized Emblems: Each student, upon entering the school, gets their own
personalized emblem. However, they might find themselves being challenged by other
students for their emblems, to a battle of the best. While you are always able to get more
replications of your emblems if you wish, you might want to be careful in how you hand
them out. Giving your emblem to another student means that you will vouch for them...
even if they are doing the wrong thing.

Grade 1: Nose Goblins (Snots)
Students just entering the academy. Their ability to handle FEAR is limited, have little to no battle experience, and have yet to be allowed access to the Human World. While in this phase of their education, student will be introduced to a number of new things, in the hopes that they will gain some all around general skills before starting to specialize.

Grade 2: Knob Goblins (Knobs)
Students have a relatively firm grasp on the basics of battle and gathering FEAR in the human world. Their abilities increase as they advance, and certain other perks may result as well. Knobs are expected (but not required) to help out the newer, less experienced Snots in getting settled into Amityville. Sponsoring younger students has been known to garner bonus points with the administration. While continuing certain areas in their general education is welcome, student are encouraged to begin seeking out their more specific areas of interest and skill.

Grade 3: Hob Goblin (Hobs)
Hobs are creatures on the verge of graduating inot the adult society of Halloween. Their abilities have increased greatly since they first entered the academy, and they are expected to have a good idea of what they want to do once they graduate. As they work to refine their skill set, they will need to be given closer, more personal attention from their instructors and a more intensive course schedule. They will also be given greater access to the human world, with the expectation that they will now be able to garner FEAR levels while being experienced enough to avoid some of that world's peculiar pitfalls.

Deus Ex: Beginner Trainee
Beginner Trainees are humans that have just woken to their awareness and their ability to sense Fear, passed the trials, and have bonded to a weapon for the first time. They are considered the lowest rung of the ladder in Deus Ex facilities, taking on missions from all Divisions, grunt work, whatever they possibly need to do to hone and develop their skills to become stronger.

Deus Ex: Intermediate Trainee
Intermediate trainees are trainee Hunters that have passed beyond their rudimentary skill set to take on further duties and more difficult missions. They are also asked to do more Division-specific work as well as further contribute to Deus Ex in terms of skill and abilities.

Deus Ex: Hunter
An intermediate trainee becoming a full fledged Hunter in Deus Ex requires several missions, work, and a verification of skills. They are adept in sustaining themselves in battle, and understand the mechanics and their role as Hunters fairly well. Hunters can also rank up to become Division Leader Assistants, ones in charge of the day-to-day of their Division, or even, part of the Hunter Council itself.

The Four Clans
The Four Clans consist currently of the four Heirs of the Horsemen, hailing from a distant land away. Not much is known about the clans, other than that each clan picks a leader and a series of Heirs, and works in unison to wreck Fear into the Human world...

Amityville Staff:
The teachers are the Ultimate Authorities when it comes to life within the wall of Amityville Academy: what they say goes, and it's best not to argue, because not only do they hold advancement in their hands, but they're also really scary. Well, most of them. They teach classes, will help organize clubs and student-run events, award helpful students, and will mete out the punishment if the time comes...

Deus Ex Machina Admin:
Deus Ex Machina administration, also known as Division Leaders, are responsible for the activities of Hunters and trainees in their division, and even outside of it. They basically help govern and run the operations of Deus Ex Machina, including trainee recruiting and elimination. Their overall goal is of course, to protect their own world from the manifestations of Fear.

What are Minipets for?

Minipets are a collectable system created to tailor to the theme of this shop. They can be won from in-thread events, contests, freebie gifting, trading, and the likes. If you wish to learn much more about minipets please click the link here to get started

ICly, they are the unique creatures that populate and wander around Halloween. Halloween minipets, as depicted by their name, grow up to be no larger than 1-3 feet tall.

How to expand your minipet collection:

Common Pets

Common mini pets can be found on the 'adopt' link, they can be shown off anywhere and will grow after a certain
amount of clicks. These sometimes have a rarer "alternate" version.

Uncommon Pets"

Uncommon minipets are usually given away in events, just as posting on a special page number. Weekly uncommon minipets are also released, they retire every Moonday to make room for 1-2 more new ones, so keep an eye out for those!

Rare Pets

You are pretty darned lucky if you have a rare minipet. They can be obtained through many places on the minipets site!

Rare Elite

Rare Elite minipets are minipets that show up once every blue moon. They are extremely hard to find - if you obtain one it is definitely worth keeping, you never know if you'll ever get another one of those again!

Holiday and Classroom Pets

Holiday minipets are minipets that only show up for that holiday season. Once its past the season, they do not show up any more! (Though there might be a slight chance of getting one... hmmm)

Classroom minipets are minipets that you obtain through rping in Amityville classes, that the professor might just hand to you!

Trick or Treat minipets are minipets that the Trick or Treaters may hand out through in thread games or other special events!

Special Edition

Special Edition minipets are custom minipets from events/bribes that belong to a user. This is the only way you can 'custom in' your minipet (ie: from winning it in a raffle or special event). Special Edition minipets can also be seasonal ones or ones won from events.

Kiribans and Minipet Games:

Occasionally you can earn fun items and gifts by participating in in-thread minipet events!

100 PAGE KIRIBANS

Starting from now Every time you post on a 100 page kiriban (so a page number that ends in "00" wink , you will win a RANDOM MINIPET PRIZE. IT could be an item, some silver, a minipet (including ones never before seen!) or a special kiriban trophy!

Lizbot: Lizbot is a mysterious shop admin who hails from the land of Mysterious Mystery, Trolling, and NPCS That Just Make Zoo Sad. She is also the landlord of the minipets site, rp manager and admin, and the person that answers all those questions in the Questions and Answers thread. She enjoys laughing at your expense.





Zoobey The artist known as Chibizoo also formerly known as Zoomutt is the friendly shop owner that hails from the land of Somewhere North of the US (Canada or something, what a strange idea!) She helps manage, develop, and run the minipets site, hire/manage the artist staff, and also in making everyone's rp lives as miserable as happy as possible.
