Soquili is releasing some Templated expression options, meaning even unedited ponies can now be Emotive! All the expressions are mix and matchable, allowing for some really fun expressions. In addition there are two sets of eyelashes for the default eyes and a selection of teeth for masking into mouths and creating toothy expressions. They are readily available in any breed!

Spelldancer and Devil Nightshade are now both officially unedited Soquili Colorists and Lolternative is officially a Secondary Edited Soquili Colorist (her job is still familiars, but she can now occasionally make some ponies for you)!

Sadly though we do have to announce that there was no new edited colorists hired in the external edited soquili event.

HOWEVER we wish to say that we 100% understand partially what caused this is mostly due to timing, and we hope to open up hirings again at a much more coloring friendly period of time soon and encourage those who tried to try again in that hiring: November was bad for a lot of people, and December busy. Keep an eye out for our next hiring event announcement! Keep practicing in the meantime: it doesn't hurt to keep yourself sharp and get yourself more used to the template as you get ready for the next attempt.

5. Soquili is a non-RP required shop.
6. You may win as many/ soquili as you like, provided you don't go over the monthly quote of one freebie, two breeding raffles, one custom and one paid pet a month. You can be gifted as many as people wish to give you. You may not use alternative accounts, or mules, in order to obtain more soquili.
7. No begging or asking for pets, from staff or other players.
8. Payment is due within 24 hours of winning, unless stated otherwise.
9. Co-ownership is allowed, up to three individuals per pet.
10. Cosplays are allowed, but you cannot reserve a cosplay idea. There is no limitation to how many times a cosplay can be purchased, as long as the ponies are not exact clones. Cosplays only look like the character they are based on, they are not actually the character, nor do they come from that world or gain any of that characters powers or abilities.

The majority of RP within soquili happens in the above, mapped out lands. There are deserts, beaches, jungles, woodlands, grasslands, mountains, and just about every environment you can imagine. Furthermore, soquili are not simply found within this snapshot, but all over the greater world. These spirit horses have a long history, and while we focus on the soquili found within these lands, there are stories of herds and individuals from far off and exotic lands. The possibilities are endless.

This setting is a low-tech, almost primitive setting. While soquili may have picked up trinkets and gadgets and gizmos that do not fit the setting, ultimately, the native people are not very advanced in technology and live off the land. Human's cannot understand soquili or animals, just as soquili and familiars cannot understand humans. When they do communicate, it's through body language and intention -- coos, gentle voices, whinnies, knickers, and hoof stomps. Just like there are horse whisperers in today's world, some humans are better able to read the animals intention, and the same goes with soquili.

Usually, humans and soquili get along well. . . but, there are cases where humans will hunt and try to trap or kill soquili, and some soquili, like more aggressive kalona or shifters, might hunt or kill the natives. This world is as dangerous as it can be beautiful, so one must always be on guard.

Perks & Reasons to RP

Soquili is not, and will never be, RP required. That being said, we love to see our owners developing personalities and stories unique to the soquili given out. There are a few perks that come with dedicated stories, and they are as follows.

1. More breeding opportunities, with RP Only slots offered to eligible couples
2. A soquili can gain stats through RP, which opens up the possibility of obtaining a character on Elder lines
3. A soquili who maxes their stats also gains a slight advantage in being granted max basket count per breeding.
4. Some events have RP Specific requirements or giveaways.
5. Eligible for shop recognition during our periodic Pet Spotlight Awards.

[Soquili Era]

Soquili are rare horses that are believed to belong to the gods. Most of them are adorned with dreamcatchers to ward off evil spirits and allow the horse to have peaceful dreams. Until recently, the Kawani Native American tribe was responsible for the care of this sacred animal; now, they have invited outsiders to help.

Basket
All soquili females are known to carry and give birth to two babies regularly. Sometimes they will have three children and elders are reported to even have four on occasion. To reduce strain on the mother’s body from carrying so many offspring, soquili will naturally give birth to their children prematurely. To keep the foals from dying once outside of their mother the Kawani shamans weave a great multitude of magical baskets. The baskets serve as an artificial womb for the foals keeping them safe from the elements and giving them room and time to grow. The baskets will often take on the colors of the foal inside. Once the foals are strong enough they tear their way out of the magical baskets in order to face the world.

The Kawani people are kind to all soquili and do not play favorites with the spirit animals that live with them. The shamans will periodically send baskets with villagers out into the wild for soquili to use that are not on good terms with the humans. Wild soquili know where the baskets will be and can easily give birth and settle their newborn foals into a basket without the aide of humans.

Foals
Soquili foals are mostly lively and curious creatures. After spending so much time stuck inside a basket the desire to see and do as much as possible is understandable. They are, however, a bit ungainly on their legs directly after leaving their wicker home, and it often takes a good deal of time before this awkwardness fades into gracefulness.

As foals they don’t have purely romantic feelings or any desire to breed or mate. OOCly, this means you cannot try to breed your foal, or even actively pursue seeking mates for them. Puppy love or foal crushes on other foals is all right, but please keep it more friendly than serious until they're adults.

Mares & Stallions
Congratulations, your soquili is now full grown! Soquili who are adults come in all mindsets, temperaments, with their own wants, desires, hopes, and dream. Young adult soquili often have more complex personalities and desires than their foal counterparts and begin to discover the world with new eyes. Adults are able to breed to start their own families, and can form their own herds.

Elders
Elder soquili are soquili are the wisest and most mature soquili around. These soquili have been recognized by the spirits as prime examples of their race. They are seen as leaders in the eyes of other soquili and are often looked up to. Their powers are more developed and stronger than the adults of their breed, and their physical and mental abilities are given a slight boost as well.

There are many different kinds of soquili within this world. Soquili traditionally look like horses, and most keep a horselike demeanor and lifestyle. That being said, over the years, the spirits have introduced a number of variations, from wings, to paws, and claws. Regardless of mutations or unique traits, they are part of the soquili family.

Breeding is a magical thing, shared between two loving parents - or even sometimes strangers, and bitter enemies united. Soquili mothers will always bear at least two children, but have been known to have three children, and in special cases of elders, up to four! Great pains have been taken to pull all the breeding information together in one neat thread, and even greater, a whole thicket, where breeders come in to help the Soquili achieve a family that they've always wanted . . . or dread to expect.

Soquili has done it again!

In our march to try and introduce new things and include new things, we are trying out a new option included into breedings and Wishing Stars: The ability to give colorists permissions to Omit stages in growth to better suit your way of life. It is entirely optional, and colorists can never force you to give up stages to enter a breeding or choose to omit without your permission, but they Can still choose to give you more stages (including going traditional style). AND it requires permission from everyone involved in the breeding , so a single individual can’t choose it for their partner.

We are also introducing three new Styles of Growth cycle

STYLES

• Traditional/Classic/Old School: You get the Basket, wait a Minimum of a Week for it to grow, Then get the foal, wait a Minimum of two weeks for it to grow, Then you get the adult. This way you get all the stages.
  
• Live Birth: You omit the Basket Stage and start off as a Foal, skipping the basket entirely. Good for ponies that have kids the way IRL horses do it, as well as having a rough idea of what you're getting without getting rid of all of the mystery.
  
• Express Delivery: Children are dropped off with only their Adult Stage, basket and Foal stage omitted entirely. You can go straight into adulthood and see what you're getting right out the gate.
  
• Gashapon: Basket and Adult stages only -- Foal stage skipped entirely. Pop the mystery basket to find your finished pony!

1. To start, we will be getting rid of the arbitrary rarities! No longer will familiars be based on common, uncommon, rares, super-rare, and mutant levels. Instead, we're changing familiar classification into three new types!

- - - - > Common Familiars: These familiars will be animals that are (loosely) based on creatures living in North America and ones that you might expect to find locally in the Kawani. This is where the majority of our current familiars will reside.

- - - - > Exotic Familiars: These familiars will be animals that are NOT creatures native to North America or animals that might be rare to find in the Kawani or outside the lands. These are still animals living today -- so no fantasy creatures or extinct animals. This would be for alternative edits to common familiars i.e. turning the mountain lion into an actual African lion as well as brand new familiar templates such as ACTUAL peacocks or camels etc. We do not have a lot of exotics right now, but will likely be designing more in time.

- - - - > Mutant Familiars: These familiars will be any familiar template that is obviously not an actual creature i.e. the horned gators OR are genuine mutations i.e. fire-racoons or winged wolves ,etc.

We will be making a sheet that classifies all of these Common, Exotic, and Mutant familiars soon, so stay tuned!

2. The percentage pricing will go out the door. We will have new familiar pricing in place based on whether or not it's Common, Exotic, or Mutant -- but don't worry. Given the inflation on Gaia, you probably won't notice much of a dent in your wallets.

3. We're getting rid of a rule where familiar colorists couldn't design more than moderate edits. At this point, if a familiar colorist is approved to do edits at all, they can make them as complex as they wish!

We will be rolling this out soon so keep your eyes peeled! We heard your concerns and hope this will help make things less confusing for everyone concerning our familiars.

New Breeding Rules!
Effective immediately, soquili is going to make the following changes to breedings!

1. There is no 30-day cool-down for breedings. This rule was always difficult to enforce and we feel it's more obnoxious than anything. Instead of having this arbitrary rule we're going to make it so that a soquili must be on adult lines to breed. That's it. Instead of having to guess whether or not the soq is ready to go, or to search for a drop date, we now just need proof that it's an adult. The soquili still need to be certed to enter an agreement and most-raffles, none of that changes, but you no longer need to wait 30-days to look for mates, or get involved in breeding things. Sure, we understand this means someone might take a newly grown adult and enter them in a breeding, but as it's their character, and it is a soquili adult, they are now free to do with it what they wish. If you still consider the soquili a foal, or RP it as a foal, than you do not need to enter agreements or breeding raffles -- but it is now left up to the owner to do with their grown pets as they see fit.

2. We are now changing breedings so they are unlimited! That's right. Instead of 4 standard, 5 for max stats, and 6 for elders, we're giving soquili unlimited breedings! You may now breed your soquili as often as you like, provided you still abide by their 2-month cooldown.

3. But what about the RP Perks or the Elder Perks? Glad you asked! Considering two maxed soquili that breed get auto-3 baskets, we figure that's perk enough. Instead of gaining just one extra breeding slot, you now get unlimited breedings so woohoo! But for Elders? Elders also now get unlimited breeding slots . . . but will now guarantee 4-baskets with a new chance for 5. That's right. Five.

4. Slight Changes to Selective Permission Rules; In light of of these changes, we will be allowing people to make broader selective permission agreements, or multiple ones for partners. But please note that you will do so at your own risk! You'll see more information about this in the net few days in the Breeding Permission Thread.

5. Retiring "Surrogacy" Slots for Lifemates with Uneven Breedings: Because now every soquili has infinite amounts of breedings, we are going to phase our the allowance of Lifemates to make surrogacy clauses in hopes of matching a partners breeding count. This is purely for lifemates who were trying to match and catch up to each others breeding counts, but . . . as everyone now has infinite breeding slots, we find it no longer needed. We will still honor any surrogacy slots made with this purpose in mind that were posted before 11:30pm EDT 3-30-2016, but it will be phased out and removed from the lifemates thread.

Some Big Changes

Salutations, all! We've got some announcements to make, and they're pretty big! These will hopefully be the last of the major Soquili Era changes for a good while. The shop has been changing over the past few years, and we feel that these next few changes go hand-in-hand with how the shop has been evolving. While we understand some of these changes might upset some of our current customers, all staff have been discussing implementation of these changes, and feel that they will fit the shop.

We're implementing these changes to open up some restrictions, and hopefully make things more fun for you the players. We're sorry if some customers disagree with these changes, but I assure you, this will hopefully be the last of any major rule changes for awhile.

That being said . . . effective immediately. . . .

Hair Templates: Hair templates can now be spliced or used interchangeably between standard soquili, mini soquili, and mers. Please note that this mix-and-match will likely require splicing to be done, and if you request a colorist use a non-fitted hair template, you're going to have to allow the colorist some wiggle room to splice it and make it fit. The few familiars that do have templated hair are still separate and cannot use soquili hair, or vice-versa.

As far as we figure hair is hair is hair.

Angeni Domains: A few years ago we opened up a rule to allow multiple cosplays to exist. We had left Angeni Domains alone at that time, in part, to see how the cosplay ruling went. Well, in lue of the other shop changes we're implementing tonight, we'll now be opening up this restrictive rule as well. There now can be multiple angeni of the same domains. They cannot be carbon copies of existing angeni, looks wise, but we feel this rule was restrictive and out dated.

By changing this rule, we now can actually begin to give away more domained angeni in events, as freebies, or future games and contests. We often refrained out of fear of upsetting someone who was questing for a particular domain. Additionally, we feel that the shop setting is large enough so those who do not want their angeni to meet those who might share the same domain do not need to do so.

We're sorry if this upsets anyone who already has a domained angeni, but hope you understand why we're changing it and opening it up.

Angeni Charms & Charmedwalkers: Effective immediately, we will be now allowing Cursed and Purewalkers to obtain an Angeni Charm. Angeni have always been immune to corpsepowder, as well as have magic (Holy Light) to deter skinwalkers and keep them at bay -- and it has recently been discovered that by putting a drop of blood in a gem, and blessing it, they can reverse the effects of corpse power and allow purewalkers to feel. This type of charm, when touched by a skinwalker, melds to them much like their pelt. This stone cannot be broken or removed, and the skinwalker cannot be cursed (or re-cursed). Effectively, this is a way to potentially cure the skinwalkers madness and evil nature. . .

OOCly, should you give your skinwalker an Angeni Charm, they can feel again. They can have emotions, feelings, and make connection or bond with others. Charmedwalkers can lifemate. Charmedwalkers can enter Wishing Stars. Charmedwalkers can be good and become good. They will retain their shapeshifting ability, but now have a full spectrum of emotions. They will NOT regain any old breed powers i.e. a charmed uni-cursedwalker will not be able to heal, but still can turn into a coyote. Having an angeni charm does NOT mean the skinwalker automatically is good. Some charmed skinwalkers keep their evil and twisted natures, but now choose to be evil, instead of being forced to be wicked. They can also continue to form bonds or connections, and have feelings. The choice is yours whether or not you want them to stay evil or be good . . .or somewhere in between.

We will put up rules and information in the Breed Guides. These will be common and easy to obtain. They will not pass down genetically -- but we will put a spot in breeding raffles where owners can decide whether or not their skinwalkers would like the future foals to be charmed or not. It makes sense that a charmedwalker would have the sense to retrieve additional charms while expecting, so they can place them in the basket with the growing foals, or on the foals once they're born. This will be an all or nothing rule -- either all the kids will get charms, or none at all.

Should two charmed purewalkers have offpspring, if they do NOT charm them, they will produce wicked and evil standard purewalker children. Then it will be up to the new owners to get them charmed elsewhere or not.

Having your skinwalker get charmed is 100% up to the owners -- either you make the choice to get them charmed, or you don't. Should RP Staff find someone struggling to RP a skinwalker, we might offer them charms so they can continue to RP their walker, without breaking skinwalker rules.

ICly, a skinwalker must either be tricked into taking the charm OR someone has to be brave and forcibly place it on the skinwalker. For further questions or concerns, PM Uta!

Tri-Wings & Quad-Wings: Effective immediately, we will now be allowing tri- and quad-winged soquili to be customed mutations! The old rule had said that it was only for those of Lucifer's line as the belief had been that Sirenz gave Lucifer away with the promise of him being the only tri-winged soquili. Last autumn, we discovered that in that old auction thread, the rule was never once mentioned. Lucifer had been called an uber-rare wind, but there was no promise anywhere that he was to be the only one.

We attempted to get a hold of Naita on Gaia as well as offline, to no avail.

We did speak to Meepfur as well, who is around, and who has given us her blessing in opening up this restriction.

Gaia B/C rules and moderators have said that we, as a shop, are allowed to change rules so long as we're opening them up, and not making them more restrictive. This limitation has been an incredibly restrictive rule, so we are finally going to open it up. There will be a tri- and quad-wing giveaway sometime this March, so keep your eyes peeled for more details.

These will be considered mutant traits, so you must get them in mutant slots.

Additionally, we are maxing back wing count at standard and/or mini quad-wings. Anymore and it starts to get ridiculous. If you want more wings than a quad-wing, you'll need to get ankle-wings and head-wings.

Owner's List: Last but not least, we have a new owner's list! Well, it's not really new but it was given to us by Kyribird! We will be setting up a page for folks to list missing or incorrect information in the next few days -- so keep your eyes peeled!

Hey guys,

Just want to quick let everyone know some things about certing in case you forget! And for certists to remember!

1. Certists have up to a month to drop a standard cert request! Please don't chase if it has been less than 30 days. They're working on things, honest!

2. Recerts also have the standard 30 days UNLESS someone drops a large batch or large batches. If Roniel or a colorist gets more than 10 recert requests in a go, it can take longer and is up to the recertists discretion on when the work gets done. They stil must drop some during the 30 day period, but don't expect them all if it's a particularly hefty batch.

3. Certists also have final say on how a cert looks. Unless you win a custom slot, and customize the cert on the form, any suggestion or request you make is purely optional for the certist! Certists do not have to match the cert with the pony colors; certists do not have to use the new cert-items; certist can make or use pre-made certs with the same colors and font to cert ponies on. That is all OK! Please do not complain or get upset if a certists chooses to do something different with your cert than what you requested! The only exception is if you win a custom slot.

With newly hires on deck please have patience with our certists.

Uta here, and we've got quite a few announcements to make. Sorry for the inevitable wall of text.

You might have noticed we included familiar colorists on this list -- we did away with the strange Level System, and they now will follow the same naming conventions and rank system as Pony Colorists, as well as have changed them into Edited and Unedited Familiar Colorists. :3 Yay for matchy-matchy!

We've changed how promotions are handled, so you'll likely see colorists move up the ranks a bit faster than how they used to have been. So if your favorite colorist hasn't been promoted ye (or you're a colorist wondering why) just give it some time! I promise there are many that we hope to promote soon. :3

Rule Changes:

We also have a few updates to some rules.

1. The old rule "Related Soquili Cannot Breed" is now being changed to "Direct Relations Cannot Breed but Cousins Are Okay!". We understand this might make some people uncomfortable, but we have reasons for changing this rule. Given we don't have a master list of characters family trees, and some lines spread out incredibly far, it can get very difficult to track who might be related to who. It also can be difficult for new owners to know what far-distant relatives are out there if they were gifted a basket or a soq. Given how large the shop is, how grand some lines span, and no real way to track how the lines spread, we're opening up allowances for cousins to cross.

You still cannot have your characters breed with immediate and direct line relations -- mother, father, sister, brother, aunts, uncles, grand-parents, great-grandparents, etc. -- be they full-blooded or half-relations; you also cannot have your character breed with adopted relatives that are raised AS immediate relations -- adopted mother, adopted father, adopted uncle, adopted sister, etc.

Additionally, just because we open up this rule doesn't mean you have to follow it. It just simplifies having to track the family tree. It's far easier to trace direct ancestry than it is to trace cousins x-amount removed.

2. Rookies are now allowed to take on breeding and custom slots! When hired, they do have to open up at least one Wishing Star to get a feel for the lines, but you should start seeing them open regular custom and breeding slots.

3. We are now allowing our colorists, as a perk, to open personal auctions, paid raffles, and breeding bribes. So if you start seeing more paid-opportunities crop up that's why! :3

Hey guys, Uta here!

So we have a few new announcements and rule changes -- hopefully for the best! Please consider these effective immediately. We'll try to change them in all the right places, but a everything in soq, sometimes it' hard to find all those spots. :3

The biggest change is as follows:

1. RecustomsNow Include 2nd+ Gens: That's right. It used to be that soquili obtained through a breeding could never be recustomed. This was done to try to spare colorists feelings, as well as keep customers from being upset if one of their 'children' got redone to be more edited than the parents.

Now, while we understand people might be upset, we also think that it's time to change this rule to be inclusive of all soquili, regardless of generation.

• Re-customing does not give you back any used breedings. (if the previous version used one breeding, the new version will have only three left.)

• 2nd+ gens must be at least 2 years old to recustom. (This way the colorist who originally designed the breeding babies gets their version time to shine, and the soquili to grow and develop before its changed.)

• Re-customs that use a different breed from the original must PM Mind or Uta for approval first. (Reincarnation) Hair styles and accessories may be changed freely.

• Recustoms who are given permission to change breeds (and thus are considered reincarnated) will not be recognized ICly by past mates/children/friends, though they retain their own character/personality. They must follow our reincarnation/past-life rules when RPed, and are ultimately considered a new, unrelated soquili.

• 2nd gen or higher Soquili may NOT change species or add/remove physical traits though they can change hair, fetlocks, items, or 'growing' physical attributes. They may also change templates provided the templates match the breed and/or original look. i.e. if they have one set of feathered wind wings, they could be recustomed with a different set of wind wings. If they have one devil tail, they can get the alternative devil tail. They must match though, so spiral horns must stay spiral, cloven hooves must match the breed hooves (no switching uni cloven hooves for kirin cloven), etc.

• 2nd gen or higher Soquili can get templated items to be custom drawn (i.e. wind wings to custom wind wings, or kalona template tail to custom kalona tail) but, like the above, they must match. If they were all feather, single-set of wings, they must stay custom drawn all-feather, single set of wings; if they are a straight, spiral unicorn horn, while it might be broken, it must stay straight and spiraled, as opposed to becoming smooth or curved. Anything you get redrawn must match the original in feel and attributes.

• Scars / Greying / Battlewounds / etc. Phyical properties can be edited onto the pony, though the markings/patterns should stay as close to the original as the colorist can manage.

Think of this as less of a recustom and more of a updated day-spa pony. They took a trip, got a freh new hair-do and look a little brighter or shinier -- not a become-something-completely-new. :3

2. PMing the Mule now equates to Pming Mindsend or Uta: Given how Mind and I keep forgetting to check the mule, you can now just PM either of us directly. We don't bite, promise! If you want to keep PMing Soquili Era, that' fine too, just know it might take longer for us to answer and you might want to give us a nudge to check.

3. No More Need For Giveaway Approval: Speaking of which, if you guys want to run contest to give away baskets, do re-homing events, or give away familiars, you are welcome to do so freely and without express permission. Jut keep in mind you have to follow giveaway rule, so no making the events paid, no giving away gold or money to winners, no setting rules that the shop doesn't enforce i.e. making things RP required, or telling people how to play their character, or threatening to take it away once its homed, etc. If we find you running a contest that makes us go hmm, you might be asked to change it. If you have question or aren't sure if what you want to do is allowed, feel free to PM Mind or Uta, otherwise take and do and have fun!

We'll get these new rule implemented and ironed out

Hey guys!

I just wanted to let you know about some official rule changes, particularly in the RP area. There are some rules that are either outdated, are more trouble than they're worth to enforce, or seem to hinder the fun someone might have in the shop. We wanted to address some of them and let you know that, effective immediately, these changes are now in place.

Soquili Reading: This was a hot debate a few years ago, and at the time the shop ruled in favor that soquili, being animals, shouldn't be able to read books, or have much of a written language. We've since decided that whatever you guys want to do is fine. if you want them to collect books to read, go for it. If they want to make some written language in symbols or shapes or patterns, that's fine. The one thing to remember though is they still cannot speak Kawani or English or any actual non-soq/animal language. While we're fine with soquili picking up or having accents, or using words from other languages, just make sure that human and soquili communication is limited to what a human and a horse might be capable of, or a human and a dog.

Backdated Foal RP We're now allowing people to backdate foal RP with customs or ponies won as adults. We used to make the argument that you'd be RPing on lines you don't own, but we fear we're stifling creativity. The character is yours -- so long as you own the soquili, we don't care if you do backdated foal RP without having foal lines. Please make sure its noted in the title or in the first post of the RP so everyone is aware that you're doing backdated foal stuff.

NPC RP Another rule we're tossing is all the limitations of NPC RP. It used to walk a fine line between RPing a character you don't yet own and fluffing out an RP, with various restrictions on how much an NPC could show up in a post, but really, an NPC is an NPC. They are to be used however you'd like if it makes the story more fun. Please note though that you still need to have PC soquili and familiars present and playing, and the RP should still focus primarily on them. Dont make the NPC the star. NPCs also do not get stats or backdated stats. If you fall in love with an NPC and get one as a custom or turn a freebie into the NPC turn PC character, you cannot claim stats or use old NPC RP for eldership -- you would have to wait until you had the official soquili, and then rewrite the RP using official PC lines, or whatnot.

Please note that if a RP looks like it's focusing way too much on an NPC, or they're starting to steal the show, RP Management can poke you and request you rein things in. I doubt this will happen much, if at all, but just be aware. NPCs are purely meant to help move a story along, not become the star.

Flashbacks: Given we now allow people to RP NPCs with a bit more freedom, and backdate foal RP, you can now write a flashback RP however you wish. We used to have restrictions on how it was done to adhere to the rule where you're not allowed to RP on lines you don't own, but since we're being less strict, you can now have characters flashback in a present role-play, or just do purely backdated RP.

We'll continue to review the rules we have in place for soquili, and make changes where we see fit. We're trying to make this shop less restrictive, and encourage people to write however that might be. Hopefully these changes will help!

Time to kick those drums down hill and get them rolling, we have a few announcements to make!

First off, please congratulate Uta and JetAlmeara for becoming Juniors

But additionally, there has been a change to our custom rules!

We are scrapping the megamutant category and turning them into a standard mutation.

As such we are also removing all unofficial secondary Cooldowns from them (and anyone who is on a bribe or credit cooldown currently has that cooldown removed), as well as any sort of combination restrictions meaning if you want a wolf nose with pawed feet, you are free to do so! However there are still some rules;

Rules that are still in place
• Colorists still have the right to refuse to do any sort of mutation, edit, or theme.
• The main profile of the head has to be similar to a standard soquili: You cannot replace the face with that of a human, hippo, giraffe, elephant, centaur upper body etc, but you can alter the nose, flip the face, give it a muzzle or alternative nose shape.
• You cannot stretch limbs, the neck, redraw the entire body, add/remove legs, attach arms, second heads, make them headless, etc. Limbs and neck can be repositioned into new poses.
• All soquili, even mutants, must still resemble soquili/horses - the basic body shape needs to remain the same and not be redesigned; the proportions kept the same. ((Ie, think about the theoretical skeleton underneath.)) Aside from protrusions ((wings, spikes, etc)) and reductions (removing muscle), you shouldn't make edits that would require drastic changes to the equine skeleton)). This means, they cannot have plantigrade or digitigrade legs.
• Soquili cannot get things like breasts, 'sheaths', etc added to them. Seriously, don't ask for a horse with humanoid Pecks, human or equid or really any species breasts/teats, 'family jewels', etc. Soquili weren't designed to be anatomically correct OR turned into humanoid anthros/humanoid anthro hybrids.
• Triwings are STILL limited to those in the Lucifer family line given permission by Naita and Meepfur to order.

This means that they will be readily available during the Custom Raffle Mutant giveaways and generally easier to get freebies, customs, and semicustoms of.

Just a quick announcement for anyone interested in stats!

Nisshou is taking a bit of a hiatus for awhile, so it's up to us to make sure you guys get your stats! I completely blanked and forgot to set up this thread earlier this month, and poor Nissy needs some breathing room for awhile. As she has no assistant, we're going to try to give you guys stats in this post-in-the-forum way.

What we need you to do is fill out this form for the ponies that are eligible for stats for the month of August.

Just a quick announcement!

Please (if a bit belatedly) say fond farewell to Darkmoon Dancer and Ririka. These two colorists have decided to focus on other things and have given us their resignation. :3 We thank them for their hard work, and if you do happen to see them, wish them the best!

Darkmoon Dancer is officially stepping down, while Ririka is going to Guest Colorist Hiatus status.

We are working on opening a Owed Work tread for the two of them and are in the process right now of seeing what colorists are available. Once we round up the colorists, we'll open a "Owed Work Thread" for customers to post their colorist preferences along with outstanding work.

Hey guys, just want to notify everyone of a new rule change:

Junior colorists are now able to take on customs!

The soquili will still be QC'd, and they still need to be approved by the person customing them as well as senior staff, but we hope this will open up more custom opportunities down the road! If we ever do large group custom events, fear not -- we'll make sure to use headers on whether or not you guys would prefer a junior or senor colorist to pick up the custom.

The Kawani gulf is rich in sea grasses, seaweed, kelp, and a large variety of seafood. It is rare for Aquatics living within the Gulf to go hungry, even during the winter. Some species of whales birth their calves in these waters.

After the fires teepee's and stats have been given a fresh method of being created, and some dwellings are looking a lot different from the tipi of old, as well as how soquili are added to the records.

Additionally, we have some really big news for some little usdia!

From here on out, those on usdia lines are now eligible for eldership! They can be entered just like full-sized breeds, and go through the same judging process and requirements. If found acceptible by the spirits, they'll get brand new lines, have 3 baskets, standard, with a chance of 4, and will get six breedings!

03.02.14Some new changes have happened in the lifemates thread!

Most importantely, we were kind of tired of the separate but equal, lifemate versus lovemate statues. To show our support of lifemate equality, we made some changes.

Anybody in soquili, sans skinwalkers, have the ability to post in the lifemates thread.
- - - - - this includes the usual hetero pairs we see on the list now
- - - - - same gendered pairs (so m/m & f/f)
- - - - - bonded polygamous groups (so long as all owners agree)
- - - - - different base pairs (i.e. a mini & regular sized, or a regular and aquatic, etc.)

We've included a surrogacy policy for those couples who just don't have a physical ability to breed, have consent of all owners and co-owners, without docking their lifemate status. THis also goes for lifemates who have unequal numbers of breedings.

Please read the rules carefully, and understand again, that ALL owners and co-owners still must post consent!

Please PM Uta with any questions or concerns over this new ruling! I'm sure we might find some kinks in the system, but we're hoping we covered everything clearly.

02.23.14 After some talking behind the scenes, please welcome Darkmoon Dancer back on staff. She is sorry for the confusion and handling of things during August, and has written a letter of apology to soquili as a whole. You can find that post here

Please note she will be returning as a junior colorist and her first order of business is picking up her old, oustanding work. Those who have owed work from her have been contacted and talked to about this new situation, as well as given options on whether they are comfortable with her picking up that outstanding work.

01.26.14: Pre-hiatus Transfer thread now open

Spirit Breedings!
Going forward on future breeding raffles, the following is now allowed:

Non-Traditional Pairs Can Be Entered Into Standard Breeding Raffles
These will be called Spirit Breedings, and essentially are for couples who can't naturally have their own children. This includes same sex couples, poly groups, soquili that are different bases (i.e. a mini x fullsize), and familiars x different breed familiars.

This does NOT include Familiar x Soquili pairs! The only way to achieve Familiar x Soquili breedings are through Crackships and Wishin Stars.

The normal breeding rules still apply -- a person can have no more than two entries in the raffle; the winning couple will go on cool down; their stats will be used to dictate basket count; lifemates who are with their lifemated soquili will get that Lifemate Bonus during rolls; the resulting offspring will be 2nd+ generation; and the kids will be designed based primarily on the entered couple.

Wait. . . what? How is this possible!?
We assure you, those non-traditional pairs will NOT be carrying the children normally. The spirits already meddle in the Kawani on a regular basis. We've had Wishing Stars happen yearly, we've seen them set up shop during the Twisted Tunnel; we've had them meddle in the affairs of baskets and give Changelings to unsuspecting parents. Instead of waiting on a Wishing Star, who is to say a spirit isn't going to bless a couple on their own as a surprise? Perhaps the couple make a wish, or pray to their gods, or simply stumble upon foals that look strangely like them, or just wake up to baskets. The spirits are a crafty bunch, and while neither parent carried the offspring as a mare might, the results are still the same.

How Does This Work?
Ultimately, when a non-traditional pair is entered into a raffle and wins, a few things will happen behind the scenes. If it's a familiar breeding raffle, than the resulting offspring will all be familiars. If it's a soquili breeding raffle, than the resulting offspring will all be soquili. In cases where the children could wind up with different bases (standard, mini, aquatic) then the colorist will roll to see which parent the resulting offspring will be based on. So, for example, a mini x unicorn breeding would either result in all mini children, or all standard children. The colorist would then blend edits and traits as they saw fit, with the possibility of some minor tweaking (i.e. using putti bases for the offspring of an angeni and mini whose traits were rolled to take after the angeni.) Traits will still be rolled, as usual.

Once again, we are keeping things Soquili x Soquili or Familiar x Familiar. The shop will not allow Soquili x Familiar breedings at this time. :3 Sorry guys!

Surrogates?
Due to the nature of non-traditional pairs, we have decided to allow surrogacy to remain open, and for non-traditional pairs to still have surrogacy clauses with their lifematings. This way nobody has to change any of their plans. Some soquili might prefer to find surrogates, while others might prefer to have Spirit Breedings, and others both. We're leaving that open to you.

Poly-Groups? How does this work?
We will start by adding an Open Poly-Group Permission in the Breeding Permissions thread. This Permission will allow us to track non-lifemated poly-groups, and give permission for the poly-group members to be used as possible inspiration for future poly-group breedings. Lifemated Poly-Pairs already have that consent given automatically.

In Breeding Raffles, customers will still have to choose 2 base ponies, to keep with the breeding rules. We will also include a Poly-Group Header, so colorists know that there will be additional group members to take permission from. While the children of this pair will primarily be based on the two base pets, by including the Poly Group Header, colorists can use the other members for inspiration on the children.

Only the owners of the listed two pets will get offspring, but all pets in the poly group will be considered during the breeding.

PLEASE NOTE: this is only applicable so long as the two pets breeding are from the same poly-group! If one pet in a poly group flings with an outsider, or finds a surrogate in an outsider, then it would be treated as a normal fling/surrogacy, and the poly-header would not be used.

Walkers?!
Unlike wishing stars, these spirits will have no problem causing trouble and allowing walkers to breed! The usual walker rules still apply though -- so angeni and angeni mixes cannot have Spirit Children with walkers unless the walker is charmed!

While some walkers have minor chances for animal traits or pelts to pass on (this is very, very rare), in the case of Spirit Breedings to Aquatics or Minis, the pelt will never pass on, and the resulting offspring will either take after the walker base, or the other parents base breeds.
