[Sidera Keeper]

The sun slowly sets as you take your final steps up the immensely large hill. It had been such a long day trying to find this legendary observatory that you had heard so much about. There had been talk of the largest telescope in Gaia and of the most detailed descriptions and explanations in celestial history. You finally reach the planetarium's front door, right when the sun had disappeared. Looking into the sky, you see each and every star come out of hiding, shining their gentle light for all of Gaia to see.

Interrupting your tranquil moment are tiny, almost inaudible footsteps. Footsteps you probably wouldn't have heard if the creature hadn't tripped over your foot while it was scurrying into the night. You pick the tiny creature up, barely fitting in the palm of your hand, and it squeals loudly and throws a bright, shiny object in your face. You scream and drop the creature on the ground, desperately trying to get the dust out of your eyes.

After a couple of minutes of clawing your eyes out, they are finally well enough to see out of again. The dust glitters in your hand and you- wait, glittering dust? The dust shimmers in the night and while you study it, the creature is back again giggling at your obvious bewilderment over what just happened.

Somehow, you were able to understand the little creature. Should you go inside? Well, my friends, this is when you take the adventure into your own hands. Welcome to Sideris, let your light be free.

do you guys take bribes/RL customs?
due to what a bribe is, we can't exactly say no to it but you'be got to
offer BIG if you want it to be expected. as for RL customs, that is currently
in discussion with Paper.

what exactly does sideris/sidera mean?
sideris means constellation in latin. for once latin comes in handy haha.

how do you tell if a sidera is male or female?
the lines are for both genders so the only way to tell the gender of a sidera
is by either looking at the cert or asking their respective owner.

how does breeding work exactly?
we're actually still trying to figure that out ourselves ^^;

i want my sidera to achieve a fourth stage, how should I go about doing that?

pet, basically anyone who would fit in the world of Gaia.

Our story begins in a world far, far away from ours in a land ruled by the Sun god Hyperion and the Moon goddess Selene. There the people of this land were experiencing an age of peace, but it was not to last. One day, a wizard of Twilight appeared and began to cause chaos wherever he went. The people of the land prayed and prayed to Hyperion and Selene, hoping that their prayers would reach them and they would be able to save them from this abomination. Unfortunately, this was all old news to the pair of deities.

They had been aware of the Wizard's presence since he had stepped foot in their realm and they had been worrying ever since. The source of his powers lay between night and day and therefore, Selene and Hyperion could not do anything against him. But to see their people suffer, was too much. They came up with the idea to create a hero that had both of their powers, and the fusion began. They grasped each other tightly and began to release their powers into the air. Slowly but surely, a small trickle of light began shining from their bodies, and as it got brighter and brighter, Selene and Hyperion got weaker and weaker and finally.. they collapsed. Being gods, they did not die, but rather fell into a deep slumber.

Unbeknownst to them, a shape was forming above their heads. Emerging from the light stood their hero. He descended onto the land and, in order to calm the minds of his people, sent them into the land of dreams. He took the name of Alaster, the Sleeping Star.

After his people had been taken care of, he approached the wizard and so began the Stellation (also known as the Great Duel). The powers of Night and Day deftly handled the powers of Twilight and the two greater beings were evenly matched. Several hours later, when both beings were on the brink of exhaustion, Alaster called to the Mother Sky for power unheard of and moments later, he began to shine brighter than any light seen before. Donning armor as bright as the sun and a sword with steel colder than the darkest of nights, Alaster defeated the dark wizard. However, it was too late for their world. The dark magic had such a perverse effect on the world that it's very core began to crumble.

Using the majority of his powers, Alaster transformed the people of his world into creatures of his own design and housed them within vessels, also of his own design. And with the last bit of magic he had left, he transported both his people and himself into another world. The world we call Gaia.

The Sidera are the main species of the shop, and will be the most common. Shimmering in their steps, they now traverse around our world always looking for fun and adventure or whatever floats their boat. They are guided by their Lums, which are the floating stars that hover near them. They share a special connection with their Lum, having been reawakened due to their perseverance and work, and also share a special connection with the key that they hold.

specifics._//
Lums; A Lum is a special companion to each Sidera, unique in personality from every other kind of their species. A Lum's color denotes which deity they follow, gold being Hyperion (the sun) while Silver denotes Selene (silver). The deity which a Sidera and their Lum follow may have some effects on their adult life but none have been discovered. Lums have been entrusted with protecting and guiding a Sidera from reawakening to adulthood and even then, most Lums choose to stick with their Sidera past then. There have been instances when a Lum has changed it's own shape to fit their Sidera's needs. Each Lum begins as a simple star, void of life and thinking, but when Selene cast the vessels of the Sidera into the sky, those that were touched by a vessel came to life. It is a Lum's life goal to find the true caretaker of their Sidera, for which, they had been given a key.

Locks and Keys; To awaken a Sidera, the caretaker must simply unlock the vessel with their key and BAM! there's their Sidera! Each key is specific to their own vessel, and while we may not be able to tell the difference between keys, a Lum can tell their key from another without a second thought. Each Sidera has a predestined caretaker, and the keys have been enchanted to know who the right caretaker is. However, finding the true caretaker is a task left completely up to the Lum. If a caretaker had been decided on by the Lum, the key test shall either confirm or reject the Lum's prediction. If the prospective caretaker cannot unlock the vessel, then he/she is not the true caretaker.

anatomy/physiology._//
The Sidera are overall unlike any creature seen before although some traits are very similar to creatures of this dimension. Most notably, a Sidera's tail function similarly to that of a squirrel or monkey, in that a Sidera may use it as a fifth limb, using it to hold or pick miscellaneous things up and also to hang from ledges and branches of trees. The Sidera also walk/run upright and have opposable thumbs which can be used to take and pick things up. The facial features can also be compared to that of a mix between a squirrel and a bear.

Some things to note, however, that have been recorded:
- Agility; The Sidera have an unusually fast running speed and are able to scurry away from potential enemies/captors with ease. It is extremely frustrating to play hide 'n' seek or tag with a group of Sidera as it will be near impossible to actually catch one.

- Balance; With the balance of a cat, the Sidera are able to land from any height on their feet. They are also able to flip and tumble through the air with ease and can imitate any gymnastics move once seen.

- Senses; The Sidera have heightened senses and often use their senses to their advantage. Most notable are the Sidera's heightened senses of smell and hearing. They can smell sugar and caffeine from a mile away and can sometimes hear a person's thoughts and feelings.

Some Sidera like to take a more interactive role in helping out at the Observatory and the Estrella and specialize in certain jobs. In order to get a 4th stage, one must post in the respective guild thread and ask to be apprenticed. Once apprenticed, then the owner must answer one RP prompt and based on their response, the Sidera may/may not be accepted. More detail on this to be posted.

each job is inspired by an aspect of alaster. many different personality types and subdivisions are within each job so please read on for more info. each job is able to participate in the battle and quest systems too.

the most prominent feature about the layfu is that the lum of each layfu has almost tripled in size, allowing their sidera to surf/glide on top of it to wherever it needs to go. layfu are the performers of shishini, always willing to perform their craft to a willing audience. jobs include dancers, singers, bards, storytellers, and the like.

[sesenti]// with a sword with steel as cold as the darkest night, he vanquished the darkness to whence it came.
sesenti are the warriors of shishini. deftly handling their swords, they travel around shishini looking for work either as protectors, or knights if they are lucky. all sesenti aspire to be a part of the royal guard of the elders, protecting shishini's leaders from who or whatever plans to hurt them. their lum has transformed into a magical sword which can be transformed according to the sidera's preferred fighting style (i.e. spear, broadsword, etc.).

[chyanten]// he began to glow with a blue-ish light and just as quickly as it had come, it was gone.
chyantens are sidera that are skilled in the magical arts. coming by magic scrolls and spellbooks is pretty hard these days so the way to a chyanten's heart is by offering them a new spell. their lum has transformed into a magical staff, able to channel their magical energies into a single spell or a flurry of quick shots. their spells can vary from elemental manipulation to EXPLOSIONS and gravity. chyanten's can be traveling wizards looking for apprentices or wizards isolated from the rest of sideran civilization. a chyanten's magic can be basically anything from colored magic (elemental), to arcane magic (light, dark, time, and space). other forms of magic not discovered yet are still out there.

[kyshin]// a gold shimmering shockwave hummed as it flew over everything, searching for any trace of Alaster's power.
the kyshin are the merchants of shishini and their wares can be anything, ranging from magical creatures of their own design to supplies and ingredients for spells and whatnot. nobody truly knows how a kyshin comes by their wares as it is a kyshin secret. revealing the source of their wares would invite competition and they are not ones to enjoy competition.

what's happening now
our story takes place almost a century after alaster had first arrived in Gaia. he
does not age, being a deity himself but now uses his time helping selene and
hyperion rebuild their world. he still stops by and helps out when he can though.
he has received the help of another celestial deity, lumiere. he is the one who takes care of distributing
the sidera that need homes as well as taking care of the observatory and the
estrella (more on those two aspects below).



the observatory
the main happenings of the shop will go on at the observatory. within it is a huge
telescope and a map of the skies. marked on the map are the locations of the
vessels still in the sky; when a vessel is ready to fall, it's mark begins to glow.
when a mark glows, Lumiere sends a fleet of layfu to the projected point, hoping
that one of them will actually follow the given directions and bring the lum
and vessel back to the observatory so that they can be taken care of. also within
the observatory is a library that contains the history of the sidera and of the
skies themselves. further back in the library is a shrine of relics such as alaster's
sword, his armor, a blessed stone from selene, and other powerful objects.



the estrella
the estrella is the magical tree behind the observatory. there the sidera
have homes, a playground, and basically a safe house. within it's leaves,
however, lies a portal to the shishini dimension. there, the sidera may
use their powers freely as well as create or destroy structures that they have
built. basically, it's their own little world where they are not held back by
restrictions. the portal to shishini is very well hidden and is regarded as
one of the greatest secrets of the sidera. it's location changes everyday and
the only way for a sidera to find it is to follow the clues set by the sidera
elders. no caretaker has ever been to shishini and the only non-sidera to ever
step foot in their realm is alaster and that's because he created the dimension.
