Obey the ToS
000It goes without saying, but insure that the terms laid out in the Gaia Terms of Service are followed at all times.

Read first.
000You will find the answers to most questions upon the front page, so please read everything over before PMing the mule or posting in the shop thread.

No drama.
000No whining, fighting, flaming or otherwise causing any sort of negative feelings in the thread. Disagreements are to be taken to PMs. Failure to heed this rule will result in immediate greylisting. Offenders my be blacklisted depending on the serverity and circumstances.

Don't steal.
000Only take art and pets made specifically for you; don't claim any work made for this shop as your own. Artwork may be altered without question for the following reasons: signature art, journal banners, and references for the owner for SW related business.

Be courteous.
000Use common sense; think how your actions will affect others. If you wouldn't be happy with the results of your actions if they were implemented upon yourself, you shouldn't do it. Avoid grouping into cliques; please make those new to the shop welcomed.

Take responsibility.
000Please save all artwork to your own server as links are changed often. Please do not direct link.

Respect the staff.
000Staff members are to be treated as human beings; they lead real lives. (Oh yes!)

Perseverance is key.
000Do not beg or complain, just keep trying. Your persistence will more likely be rewarded.

Handling gold payments.
000As a precautionary measure, all large gold sums (1mil+) coming into the mule may be screened by a mod before acceptance as payment. If you are found to be sending us bottled/faulty gold, you will be grey-listed, no exception.

Ownership
000Co-owning up to two people is permissible.

How can I receive a SW wolf?
000Please check our availability post, where you will find out about any current events. Please do NOT ask staff or other owners for a wolf, you must gain a wolf through an event/flat sale/raffle/auction etc.

I have plenty of gold, may I commission a wolf?
000You must obtain a commission slot to gain a custom wolf, please do NOT hassle the staff over when customs are to be opened/accepted it will be noted in the news, also remember to check the custom post periodically to see when they are open.

Can I sell my puppies from a recent breeding?
000You may hold contests or gift pups away, but you may never sell puppies or wolves for gold or RL money.

May I re home/give away a wolf?
000Yes, however large re-homing events or contests must be first approved by staff. Under no circumstance may you then take the pet back, unless it has been stated clearly to the new owner and a member of staff under what conditions (such as a limited amount of RP to be carried out).

Can my wolf have supernatural powers?
000No. SW wolves are natural, normal animals and act thus, the exceptions being Shaman and Seer ranked wolves, though their powers are still very limited.

I have a problem with so-and-so. What do I do?
000Contact the staff and we will deal with it as quickly and with as little fuss as possible.

What do the Gen 1's, Gen 2's, etc have to do with breeding?
000Absolutely nothing. We decided to do away with it because of inactivity amongst the earlier generations. The term 'generation' is now being used to help us remember when the wolf was colored. XD

User Image

For RP and referance to the general hierarchy of the wolves refer to this image.

The pup, adolescent, default Gamma and Beta ranks are the only adult male/female specific lines; all the other ranks are unisex. All wolves from the pup stage will grow to the default Gamma rank unless the alternative ranks are requested in the relevant colourists growth request thread in the guild, see 'Quick Links' below. Please note while you may request your wolf to grow to a Lone, Omega or Vagabond. The Seer, Shaman and Alpha ranks must be earnt through RP or special events, please do NOT request a pup to be grown into these special ranks. If your wolf has met the criteria to change rank to a more specialised role and they have already grown to adulthood, when slots are open please post here to have them placed on their new lines, note there is a fee for this.

User ImageThe Gamma: While not really an official term, this ranking applies to all other wolves that do not have a specific rank of alpha, beta, pup, omega, shaman, or seer assigned to them. These individuals are nothing particularly special, and participate in many of the less desirable tasks such as scouting, hunting, baby-sitting, and den building. They are the larger percent of the general population of a pack. Older gamma wolves often take the role of teacher or story-teller as well. There can be an infinite number of gamma males and gamma females in a pack.

Please see above for the Gamma lines.

User Image

User ImageThe Alpha: These are the highest ranking members of the pack. They decide what happens and when it happens and who does what. They walk with their tails and heads high and rarely take abuse from anyone. They usually exhibit a quality that puts them above the rest of the pack, be it experience, excellent decision making skills, or brute strength. While alphas are very important wolves and run the pack, they aren't invincible and are just as prone to making errors as any other wolf. Alphas are prone to being challenged by lesser ranked wolves for their position. There is only one male and one female alpha pair in a pack.

To obtain an Alpha, you must provide the colourist with a link to a recently finished RP demonstrating they have earnt this rank, either by successfully taking over a pack or having set up a new pack. Please read the information relating to packs below for more information.

User ImageThe Beta: These wolves are second ranked in the chain of command. They exhibit many alpha-like qualities, yet do not run the pack. Instead, they act as the alpha's "right hand command" so to speak. They help organise the hunting parties and keep order, as well as baby-sitting and doing lesser duties. There is only one male and one female 'true' beta pair in a pack.

To obtain a Beta you must request a pup to be grown onto the lines in the colourists growth thread, or if the wolf never had pup and teen stages then please wait for the rank change slots to open, please see the link above.

User Image

User ImageThe Omega: These are the last common rank on the hierarchy...so low that even some pups will be allowed to pick on them. Omegas tend to walk around with their tail in between their legs and ears flat to their skull, attempting to mind their own business. These are the last to eat, and on occasion, they don't get to eat at all if there's not enough food for them. These are the scapegoat of the pack. The omega is usually never hurt while being tormented unless they're in a fight for dominance and even then the alphas will gently let them know their place in the pack. The amount of abuse suffered varies pack to pack.

To obtain an Omega rank you must request a pup to be grown onto the lines in the colourists growth thread or if the wolf never had pup and teen stages then please wait for the rank change slots to open, please see the link above.

User ImageThe Lone: One of the less common ranks is the lone wolf. A wolf becomes a lone wolf when it is "kicked out" of their existing pack or chooses to leave of their own choice. Lone wolves are prone to other predators, and can be killed or seriously injured without the protection of a pack, so it's not at all common for a lone wolf to remain such for longer than necessary unless they are one of the few to survive with little trouble. Lone wolves can band together with another lone wolf of the opposite sex and start their own pack or attempt to make their way into another pack, but it is not always assumed this can happen.

To obtain a Lone rank you must request a pup to be grown onto the lines in the colorists growth thread or if the wolf never had pup and teen stages then please wait for the rank change slots to open, please see the link above.

User ImageThe Vagabond: A variation of a lone wolf, vagabonds tend to be very ragged, sickly looking, with physical injuries being very common. They are of the same rank on the hierarchy as a lone wolf, but usually have a greater stigma attached to them because of their poor health.

To obtain a Lone rank you must request a pup to be grown onto the lines in the colorists growth thread or if the wolf never had pup and teen stages then please wait for the rank change slots to open, please see the link above.

User Image

User ImageThe Seer: Seers are the rarest of all wolf ranks. These wolves have mental connections to all other wolves and have the ability to mind-speak and mind-read, regardless of the distance separating the seer and his/her fellow wolf. They receive visions to help make more accurate predictions than shamans and also have the skill of talking more easily to other non-wolven creatures. Seers are sometimes considered freaks by their brethren because most do not understand the ways of the Seer and are afraid to have their minds touched by one of such high mental skill. There is not always a Seer in a pack.

User ImageThe Shaman: Another of the rarer ranks is the Shaman rank. These wolves are gifted with a very minor gift of magic, which is usually hidden from the wolf until it is sufficiently aged. This magic usually consists of minor healing abilities and an affinity over a particular domain of nature. Shaman wolves, for the most part, are good at listening to their surroundings, which is helpful for predicting weather and the movements of prey, yet this sense isn't perfect. Shaman wolves are generally cool, calm, and rarely instigate any fights, but there are exceptions that vary greatly on their chosen domain. They generally have a ranking just above the gammas but below the betas unless the pack chooses to set them higher or lower. There is not always a Shaman in a pack.

For more information on both Shaman and Seer ranks please read this guild thread. To obtain either a Shaman or Seer rank you must either enter your wolf into the raffle when the Sacred Oak is open or receive them through specials events, check the events page below. Please note both these ranks are extremely rare.

All flatsales, raffles and events will have an opening date and often a particular time. For instance; flatsales will be planned in advance so you know when it will take place however you may not enter until the GO post is posted and will end with a STOP post. With Raffles you may purchase tickets from the opening date up until the closing date. Auctions will also begin on a particular date, the closing of which will be listed and the TIME. Please do NOT hassle staff as to when raffles will be rolled and other events and contests are to be judged, if they have not been decided within the week please PM 'Shaoilin'.

Flatsales:
User ImageDo NOT post your entry until a GO post is posted.
User ImageOnce you post your entry, do NOT edit it, even for RP response sales.
User ImageEntries received the same minute as the STOP will be accepted, but none after.
User ImageAll entries must contain the phrase "a lone wolf is a dead wolf" somewhere in the post. It can be at the bottom of your entry, at the top, or even in the middle of your entry. It must be there to prove you read the rules.
User ImageThe cost for all flatsale pets, wolves and familiars is 5k and must be paid within 24 hours otherwise the next person in line will take your spot.

Below you will find the particulars for the three main variations of flatsales, the above rules apply to all forms of flatsale.

Speed Sales:You MAY have a proxy for this type of sale and you may give the wolf away if you choose.

000In this type of sale, a go post will go up and participants will have to post a preference for what wolf they want. You may only list one wolf per post. If your wolf is taken before you can post, you may post again with a new post, listing a new preference. Some speed sales have special requirements, so please keep an eye on the thread before the sale for any important information you might need to know.

Flaffles: You MAY use a proxy for this type of sale.

000Flaffles are for those that don't have super quick computers and fingers and those that don't enjoy RP prompt sales. After the GO post, post requesting a ticket and a list of preferences if there are multiple wolves in the event. Once the time is up, a list of participants will be made Tickets are allocated in the order participants posted, and then rolled. Those first rolled get their most preferred and so on.

RP Prompt Sales: You may NOT use a proxy for this type of sale.

000In an RP Prompt sale, the go post will contain a RPing prompt, which you are to respond to in character going in any direction you choose. Any characters introduced in the prompt are free for you to use in your RP and are generally up to your imagination as to rank, gender, age, etc for storytelling purposes unless indicated otherwise. You will have a set amount of time after the go post to write an answer and submit it. Please be patient whilst judging, entries will be judged by available staff and in th event of a tie, an impartial judge will help decide. The first place winner has first pick followed by the second place person and so on. If you are not going to be present in the event of a win, please post a preference list before you leave.

User Image Shaoilin wolves are like any other wolf when it comes to breeding. They give live birth to a litter ranging from two to six pups in a den and these pups are completely dependent on their mother for a span of time after being born. Pups do not have an assigned rank but are almost equal in hierarchy with the Omegas. Offspring will usually resemble their parents in colouration, but throw-back colours are also normal too...so don't be surprised if a black/grey and green pair of wolves produce a random red coloured offspring.

User Image Depending on the type of pack (or lack thereof), deaths can occurr. That is how nature works. The odds of death dramatically decrease with increased stability in the pack, which is explained more in depth in the breeding guide.

User Image We highly discourage inbreeding so PLEASE keep track of your blood lines. No brothers mating with sisters or mothers with sons...cousins are fine. We do not consider wolves being RPed by the same people to be siblings so you may breed two of your wolves together as long as they are not direct relatives.

User Image Wolf breeding spots are 15k (to be split between the RPers of the parents unless one person owns both). Any resulting pups can be kept, raffled away, or given as gifts at the discretion of the parent wolves' owners.

More information about breedings can be found here.

User Image No god-moding is permitted at any time. A warning will be issued if staff is alerted to improper behavior, and failure to stop will result in greylisting. If it continues to be a problem, the offending party will be banned from the guild.
User Image RP is meant to be a sort of story-telling. One line sentence responses do not make it easy for the others to respond to your character.
User Image Romantic RPs with pups is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN without exception. Adolescents are free to RP budding romances and fancies but they are not able to have pups until they reach full adult age.
User Image Keep OOC conversation out of RP threads.
User Image Wolves are not allowed to RP as having special powers unless they are seers or shamans.
User Image Wolves and familiars can understand each other and can be RPed accordingly.
User Image RP may take place either in the thread or in the guild.
User Image As a general guideline for RP, please read the Daisy Code: User Image

Wolf pups without RPable parents are said to come from NPC parents and are said to have been abandoned/removed/alienated from the pup. It is up to the RPer to set the story as to why the pup has found itself alone and to build the character through RP. Once adult, the wolf can then associate itself strongly to a pack or take the path of a wanderer.

User Image

User Image A pack is a group of wolves (four or more) that have been bonded together in a sort of "family". This family usually does not require those involved to be related in any way; on the contrary, most have members with no blood relation to one another. These packs take on their own territory, which is a plot of land which the pack can roam freely. Within these packs, rankings are established.

User Image Packs require work, but there are benefits. One benefit to having a pack is the fact you'll have other people readily available to RP with. Another is the fact that breedings from pack couples have a better chance of surviving than those who are born from lone wolf breedings, which makes happy mommy and daddy wolves. Packs get their own sub-forum in the guild as well.

Further pack information, including creating information and application, can be found here.

The Borderlands.

User ImageIf you don't have the time to form and manage a pack, but you want a place that your wolves can call home, and form a close bond to a group of wolves IC, then a band might be the right choice for you. Forming a band is also a great way to test out a new concept which, once it's gathered enough interest and eager RPers, can perhaps flourish and later form into a full pack. Note: a band must still apply for pack status just like a concept from an interest thread must, please read the above link relating to creating packs and the application.

Further band information may be found here. For lists of current bands please investigate here.
