The first batch of Sprites is already here. The first event includes

4.16.2013 Changed the banners. They are now a better quality and also wider.
Posted samples for the prephase and the first phase.
Rewrote the information on sprites.
Wrote the "about the realm" section. Quite happy with it.
Priorities are to finish the story comic and the rest of the samples.

General rules

❋ Follow all TOS.

❋ Don't steal any piece of artwork from this shop. It was really hard to make
all of these lines and colors come together, so come on, don't be a thief!

❋ We're aiming to be a drama-free board. We all get angry and emotional
sometimes, and it's precisely in those times when it's better just to take a
deep breathe and leave. However, If you have problems with another user
in this board, and can't seem to fix them personally, you can PM us to help
you solve the problem!

❋ Please leave the sprites in the realm. This means you may not re-sell your
sprites, steal their designs, stories, artwork, etc. The dreams and nightmares
are sensitive creatures and must be left at home.

❋ Do not claim any piece of artwork or base story as yours. We spent ages
thinking about this world, so please have some respect for us!

❋ Speaking of respect, respect everyone, bro. We don't want any trouble here
in the realm. Everyone's the same no matter their beliefs, who they like, or
what they wear.

❋ Don't cheat in events and such. That means no stealth auctioning or stealing
ideas from others for the writing contests, etc.

❋ Please read all of the first page before you ask a question. Most questions
might have already been answered!

Roleplay rules

❋ Here in the realm we like active people. While you don't have to come and roleplay
each and everyday (no one has the time for that), it would be nice if you could come
around once a month or even once in a millenium-- just let us know you're alive!

❋ We like all sorts of characters: tall ones, short ones, chubby ones, gay ones.
Don't be afraid to give your character a nice little attitude or a weird little crush.
All people are different, and so are sprites! (Yes! We do accept all kinds of relationships.)

❋ As all sprites are different, though, some differences might arrive. Please respect
your roleplaying partners and understand that the personality/thoughts of their characters
don't necessarily reflect their own.

❋ We understand empathy is awesome, but please don't incarnate in another sprite's
boots. In short words, don't roleplay another's character. It's annoying, offensive and childish.

❋ And most importantly, follow the daisy code!:

We all know them.
Dreams, nightmares. They have all been present in our sleep,
in our deepest and involuntary adventures.
They, unknown to us little beings, have inhabited the Somnum
realm since the beginning of time, interacting with our world in
ways we still ignore.
Yet, their interaction with our dimension remains necessary for
our mutual existence: they feed us with feelings and ideas, we
feed them with magic.
Both dreams and nightmares need to coexist in order for peace
to reign: dreams guard the childish hopes we love, nightmares
guard the everyday fears that keep us on our feet.
But the leaders, Anidara, the king of nightmares and Sepona,
the king of dreams, seemed to forget.
Anidara, filled with rancor towards the beings who hated him in
our world, left the reign along with his children.
Sepona, filled with arrogance, proclaimed the kingdom as his.
The overload of innocent, yet futile ideas, carried to madness.

And so, madness devoured it all.

In that new beginning for the Somnum plane, mother life planted
two seeds, with hopes that, this time, the resentful and the
arrogant would succeed in bringing peace.
The world, now filled with newborn places and inhabitants, is awakening.
Will dreams and nightmares find peace?

Our reality wouldn't disappear each time we go to sleep if it was the only reality indeed.

You might be curious as to who or what are the sprites.
Well, Sprites are no one else but the little Nightmares and Dreams that come
visit you in your sleep!

Dreams and nightmares descend from the races of mythology, as they themselves
created it.
That means that dragons and unicorns indeed exist in the somnum realm--
but of course, it wouldn't be practical being a huge dragon in a city for the small,
would it?
The Sprites have solved this problem by taking on a humanoid form, keeping only
the attributes that represent them the most: Sirens usually keep their tail, Djinns
usually prefer not to have feet.

However, there exists only one race for each kind of sprite: there is only one
Dream Valkyrie, as there is only one Nightmare Valkyrie.

When a Jar gets an owner, a Small Sprite will pop out from it! The owner will now
be able to RP with the dream or nightmare.

Growth Requirements

Young sprite ☛ Adolescent

-Character development: There's two parts to this requirement.

First, just so that your little boy or girl (or asexual being) gets to know the world they live in, the kings recommend you take place in three to five roleplays. Solos and metas work as well.
Second, you should describe, in your journal, how he or she has evolved and grown both physically and psychologically. You can mention what the sprite's thoughts on the world are and what he or she hopes to do in both the near and far future. Do they dream of meeting Galilea? Do they wish to explore the forest's depths?


-Growth quest: The kings won't let your sprites leave the nest that easily, oh no! Your sprite must first have a meeting with the kings to prove he or she is old enough to leave the nursery.
The meeting should be requested in the character quests topic. (The link will be posted soon)

-Complete journal: It's important knowing your own character, so a complete and clean journal is required. We don't need you to have an entire background story but we appreciate thorough personality descriptions and rp logs.

Adolescent ☛ Adult

-Character development: The same thing as before, only now it's gonna be 10 to 15 roleplays, whatever you think is enough to actually develop your character now that s/he's free to go wherever s/he wants!

-Growth quest: This time the quests will be customized to fit your sprite. Ex. A dream siren might be asked to create a nightmare that takes place on the clouds.

-A meeting with the kings: Just to make it all official and pretty!

-An updated journal: This!

"The magical land where Dreams and Nightmares (Sprites) live and coexist."

Central Somnum
In the middle of the grand realm, there lies a city of tangled streets and intrinsic floors.
Here is where most sprites live and work..
Getting lost in the huge fortress is almost a duty, as there has been no Dream and no
Nightmare who hasn't lost his or her way at least once. Thankfully, though, the lively
markets and the kind people are always eager to help those in trouble.

Forest
A place of legends and magic.
These deep and wild woods are said to be full of monsters that not even
the Nightmares can dare think of.

Desert
The barren west of the realm. There was only one Dream who was dumb enough to
let himself get carried away by these sands, and he was never seen again.
It is said that those who drink from the legendary oasis will gain power and wisdom--
Or a bad stomach ache.

Tundra
Perhaps the only place to where the sprites travel often. Up in the northern mountains
of this cold-kissed land, there lies the famous hot spring of Galilea. Be sure to bring
a fortune with you if you wanna get in, though.

The vast ocean of emptiness
Sepona and Anidara are yet unsure as to what exactly is this land, as no one has ever
set a foot in its mist-covered fields. It is said that it was a mistake in the re-awakening
of the world, a glitch.

All adolescent and adult sprites are allowed to have a job!
Jobs are not obligatory, as there is no real economy in the Somnum realm,
however, it is through jobs that sprites can get to go to different places and
meet different people!
Certain part-time jobs can also give the Sprites the opportunity to gain special
items, such as a 1-day-pass to Galilea's hot spring, or one of Mrs. Cardenal's
famous pancakes!
In short, jobs are a great opportunity to develop your character and to let
him or her interact in-depth with the world of somnum!

Jobs must be applied for in the "hiring board". As most jobs have certain
requirements, you should make sure your Sprite has those requirements
before applying.
For example, if the Somnum post service needs a new mailman that can
travel across all of Central Somnum's floors easily, you may want to have
a character with wings.
However, jobs are not that hard to get in Somnum, and most are full-time
jobs except if your Sprite decides to quit.

Powers
In a land where all inhabitants descend from mythological creatures, there's
bound to be magic. However, it is law that all Sprites must keep and use
only one of their powers.
For example, a siren may only have the ability to swim incredibly fast,
but she must give up her ability to heal.

When a new Sprite is born, it is given two options as to which power to
keep. Say you've won a Dream Elf, we'll give you two options with powers:
You can choose between the ability to read minds or the ability to perceive
other's feelings. You must, however, keep only one of these options.
All sprites found using more than one of their powers will be severely
punished by being de-powered completely.

On the other hand, there are also sprites that are born powerless,
Somnian medicine hasn't proven to solve this innate quality, but those
who suffer from this "lack of Magic", don't suffer much.
Take Sepona, for example!

FAQ

Are all Nightmares evil and all Dreams good? Not necessarily!. While nightmares
look scary most of the time because it's their duty to scare people in their dreams, they
are not all bad and they don't all like scaring people. In the same manner, not all dreams
are good and some might prefer the job of a nightmare.

How many Sprites am I allowed to have? One per person for now. If we see you
interested and active enough, though, we might consider offering you a second spot!

I have to admit that I don't know anything about this kind of shop, b-but I can give feedback on the layout maybe? ;u;

I think that the banners are really cute, and they fit well with the kind of balance between light/dreams and darkness/nightmares that you are going for? Also, I really like the colour scheme and the name (which is clever) and the pretty picture in the first post. So my first impression was a good one!

One thing you might want to consider is the borders in your posts. (I am totally the hugest hypocrite ever for suggesting it, as evidenced by this post, but) the banners that you have are thinner than the width of the post, and it seems a little odd to me that the text blocks are wider than the banners when the pictures and stuff aren't. I have also heard it said that some people with wide screens do not like having to read small font when it is spread across their screen. TL;DR: If there is an elegant way to contain all of your text within the width of your banners, you might want to consider doing so. (But I understand that this is difficult to do.)

Following that train of thought: your Rules post is left-aligned, but (and I apologise if I'm repeating things you already know) there is a code you can use to contain it within this width. Before each paragraph or section of paragraphs, simply type "[list]" as many times as you need to (the list code works a little bit like the tab key). Remember to type "[/list]" just as many times at the end of the section, or it will stay indented for the rest of the post. Once you have done this, just hit enter in the appropriate sections to cut the line off (as you would for a center-aligned paragraph).

Also in Rules, the second rule has a typo in "together," but the grammar is mostly acceptable beyond that. c:

As for the sprite examples, they are so cute!! I love the colouring and the border and the tastefulness of the watermark. It kind of threw me off that the two you have posted were different sizes, though. I think that having all of the example images be the same size (even if the final products will be smaller or larger) would make that post seem more... (I can't think of the word. Um.) More like everything is the same? Anyway, I think that it would give a nicer overall effect for that post.

I also noticed that the text in your first three banners is transparent (or maybe it's just beige), and in all of the other banners, it is green. Is this intentional? (It kind of makes sense, I just wanted to check and make sure you were aware.)

Anyway, I think that your shop is super cute and well put-together so far! Of course all of the things I have mentioned are just suggestions and you can ignore them as you wish, but I thought that I would give you my opinions anyway. c:

Good luck with your shop (and also with your exams, Sepona)! Again, it looks really nice and I think that the final product will be a pleasing one.

Somnum was created by two best friends under the
names of "Anidara" and "Sepona" in 2012.
The project was delayed mostly because of school,
but in 2013 they finally decided to make it happen.
(More like Sepona decided it would happen and dragged
Anidara in)

Somnum: its content, story, artwork, and names belong to
Anidara and Sepona only.


Disclaimer: Nor Anidara nor Sepona are our main accounts.
We created them to actually mod and post in Somnum, but
thought it would be uncomfortable having two mod accounts.
However, we grew close to the characters, so we decided
