Welcome to the shop, we're glad to have you interested in our fish keeping community! Goldfish are kind of big around here so I hope you like them too because that's exactly what we sell - goldfish!
Ponds of Gold is a more breeding centered B/C shop dealing with the raising of fancy goldfish. Our fish keepers all manage their very own pond, creating a unique and connected community of goldfish breeders.
Obtaining new fish and choosing good pairings can help bring undiscovered colors and variations into the Ponds of Gold network, so why don't you get started?

Ponds of Gold is very guild heavy. If there is something you cannot find, please look there first or feel free to ask in the thread.

      User Image Fry:
Raised from egg and carefully grown in separate tanks from the parents, Fry are only obtained from spawning. Fry are not displayed in shop ponds but they are shared in thread and may be displayed in your personal log. Takes approximately one week to grow.

      Juvenile:
Your little goldfish is finally big enough to enter your pond! These little guys usually have very little breed definition. With happy hungry mouths, they will happily gobble anything that falls into the pond. Those looking to keep their little fish little may purchase Frolicking Marbles at the general store. Takes approximately two weeks to grow.

      Adult:
After being properly fed and housed, your goldfish have started to put on weight and fill out a bit! Adult fish are now able to breed and will eat off of your fingers with glee. For most this is when they reach their full size and have developed their characteristics completely.

      Senior:
Those who breed excellent fish and take care of them with the utmost quality may sometimes be rewarded with fish you continue to grow after their prime, often times growing larger fins, wens, or developing colors more suited to their owner's liking. Shop regulars are more likely to raise their fish to seniors.

Goldfish are diverse creatures that have been kept domestically for nearly a thousand years. Seen as an art to some, goldfish breeding has brought about a diverse pool of breeds with a spectrum of variations.
While you may need to consult Google for a comprehensive list out in the real world, this guide will help you keep track of goldfish varieties kept and breed here in the Ponds of Gold network!
To find more inclusive information including clutch size and variations, check out the thread in the guild here.

      Oranda Goldfish

      Example & Example

      Rarity: Common
      Defining Characteristic: Wens

One of the oldest varieties of goldfish, orandas are often topped with a bubbly wen. Soft to the touch, these wens can grown to an impressive size and sometimes look more like brains
than fancy bubble hats! Older fish in our ponds can sometimes achieve significant growth through active care and attention.

      Ryukin Goldfish

      Example & Example

      Rarity: Common
      Defining Characteristic: Dorsal Hump

Ryukin goldfish are known as the hardiest, and the largest of fancy goldfish varieties. Known for their stubby bodies and dramatic curves, you better have some room in your pond
if you want to keep this guy! Older fish in our ponds often times start to get veil tail finnage that drapes elegantly.

      Pearlscale Goldfish

      Example & Example

      Rarity: Uncommon
      Defining Characteristic: Body Pearls

Pearlscale goldfish often are referred to as little golfballs for their considerably round tummies and the little "pearls" that adorn their bodies. Topped with a bubble like wen, you can't
help but smile when you see one of these little guys floating on by. Older fish in our ponds can achieve great crown-like wen growth.

Through breeding, sometimes new mutations with defining characteristics called variations occur. So your plain Oranda may not just be an Oranda anymore!
Check out the variety thread to scope out all variations that have already been discovered.

        Auctions:
These are rather rare and most likely will be limited to uncommon and rare fish, or fish with special variations. All auctions will be held inside the guild but announced in advance and will extend five minutes after the last bid in order to avoid sniping.

        Breeding:
All it takes is a pair of adult male and female fish! While we take some liberties here in the shop by applying spawn sizes based on breeds, left over fry that are not claimed by the owners can either be gifted to another user by the breeder, or donated to flaffles or events. Head over to our breeding thread to learn more about this option. Fish must have been an Adult for at least two weeks before they may breed.

        Customs:
If there is a specific fish you would like to add to your stock, you may commission a custom fish using Gaia's gold. Prices are to be determined based on which species and variation you select. Check out the guide to ordering customs here.

        Flatsale Raffles:
Fish offered in flat sales will be posted with a set price. Those interested can request a ticket and the winner drawn must pay for the fish. Prices are tiered depending on the rarity of the fish.

        Raffles:
Occasionally, Ponds of Gold may offer raffles with either free or paid tickets. This is a game of luck intended to give everyone a chance!

Follow Gaia's TOS. This will most likely get you reported to site mods if you are caught breaking TOS. We do not wish bad behavior to be reflected on the shop. This also applies to the guild where monitoring TOS violations is in the hands of the guild captain.
Respect Others. This is a no brainer. Please be nice to each other - we have a right to remove rude members who create a hostile environment.
No Spamming. Please keep our threads and guild free of clutter and spam. We follow the generic definition - if you post more than three times in a row or post messages of zero use, you're probably spamming. Three strikes and you're out.
No Art Theft. While you purchase the characters, according to Gaia's B/C terms, the shop owns the art and specifically, line art. Should for any reason you obtain lineart or our certs, you may not use them for your own purposes. Sharing your fish around is obviously permitted but please do not claim the art as your own. Re-hosting is encouraged but your fish must be linked back to the shop.
No Advertising. Shops or services Panda Moor is not apart of may not be advertised here. Shops take I partake in or own pets in are 'unofficial affiliates' that I will happily pimp. This is my thread, not yours.
Promote Good Pet Care. This applies to real life - regardless of how you feel about goldfish, they are living creatures that deserve good care. Please do not perpetuate bad keeping practices. You will be asked to stop and then removed if you continue to spread misinformation. One of the purposes of this shop was to spread the greatness of goldfish and their unique and enjoyable ownership.
Disclaimers. Should a unique event or situation happen where your removal is appropriate, the mods at Ponds of Gold reserve the right to blacklist.

There are no users on our blacklist. Please keep it this way!
