Hey guys! It's been awhile, hasn't it? Last time we talked, Nightmare Academy was put onto hiatus as we reworked the shop. Well, today we're ready to reveal the changes and open the shops to everyone! Now, before I send you off to the new guild and new main thread, I want to discuss the immediate changes briefly!

Changes in Staff: We've been looking for new colorists lately, and while we will keep hiring open for about another month (we will be adding an ending date this week for hiring), we have found a few colorists to add to our team already! We've added -Yasha Alchemist, Mameha Otome, Rainbow Lime, Nepsah, and Ember-babe! Yushika has become the new owner for NM, and Bitter Owl has stepped down to become a full-time colorist! ~Lady Kanna~ and Lady Argentum Draconis are our loremasters, still!

New Lore: We've revamped the lore of the shop! We've changed the 400 Year War to the 50 Year War, and clarified more information about the races and world as a whole. You'll especially want to pay attention to our new university information. Please read the World of Below forum in its entirety in our new guild ASAP! It's a lot to take in, but it's better to be caught up then behind! We'll be developing the shop history throughout the years, so no time better than now to get caught up!

Journals: Journals are a HUGE change. We've made it so every customer has one journal! Staff will create the journal and reserve the first two posts for our mule. Customers can arrange the rest of their journal however they like. Please do not create your own journal!

School Life: We've expanded the school life for our shop. Now, to grow, students must attend a certain amount of classes. Currently, we are still working on classes, so right now you won't be able to participate in classes to grow your characters! House Events are are also still in progress! You can read about them in their respective forums, however! In September we will open Classes and House Events officially, so keep an eye out!

Growing: Growing has been changed. Now, for all pets that were not received from RLC means, they must take a certain amount of classes and perform at least one RP to grow. You can find the new growth requirements in our new guild on the front page. Anyone bought from RLC means have kept the same requirements, however.

Everyone who wants to grow must now follow the new requirements. The old requirements are now void and null.

Breedings: Breedings are now possible! Actually, in our new guild one of our colorists has opened breeding slots for the next two weeks! While normally all customers must make an RP with their Nightmare showing a desire for children (called a Breeding Intent RP), this round we are allowing customers to enter without Breeding Intent RPs! You must still post for breeding permissions! Breedings also have added a life stage; Infants! You can read more in our new guild, which you can find the link to at the end of this post!

Naming: We are removing the previous rule that all names must be unique to the Nightmare. Now there can be duplicates of a name throughout the shop!

RLC:We will not be doing RLC nearly as much as we did before. We've transformed into a gold-custom shop. Bitter Owl will, occasionally, open RLC customs. They are the only colorist able to open RLC customs!

Lore Breaking Pets: We are going to be cracking down on pets who break lore. Specifically, Litches and Geists. We've noticed a few Litches with white sclera and this is now no longer possible. Litches have always only allowed black sclera, however staff previously made a mistake of overlooking this trait and creating one of two Litches with white sclera. Geists with sclera that are other colors except white or black were also noticed. From now on, unless the pet is an event pet which special circumstances, all Nightmares must stay within lore restrictions. If those who broke lore breed, their kids will not inherit the trait.

This also means we will not be allowing edits to bases that do not fit the race. Horned races can have custom horns now! But they can't have more then two horns at a time. Chimera's and Fallen's may not have custom wings, Grimm's may not have unique tails, etc. Disability edits will be allowed with approval, and hybrids have a little more leniency with unique edits, but that's pretty much it. We're hoping this will help the shop steer closer to the lore!

RP Level: We have steered more towards being an RP shop. We will be holding Meta's in the future and strongly emphasizing on RP! While NM is not an RP required shop, we do want to warn that there are perks that come with RP! Some features require RP, such as breedings. NM is going to focus on improving the RP experience for our customers and encouraging everyone to enjoy and play their creatures, so expect plenty of RP opportunities in the near future!

Much much more: We've added so much, and we're eager to show you. A lot of work went into this shop, and a lot of love. We're a bit sad classes and house events aren't ready yet, but we wanted to open the shop and give everyone a chance to settle while we finish those up! However, should you decide you no longer want to be a part of the shop then we understand! We even have a rehoming thread if you want to relinquish your Nightmares. We will always welcome you back should you change your mind, and we wish you the best in life!
