FAQ

How do you guys decide what the color names are?
Most of the time, we are just thinking up names off the top of our heads. There is no great meaning behind the color names. It's just for fun ^^

I've seen Kida with fluff tails, how come mine doesn't have that?
There are a few alternate traits that Kida can have, such as fluff tails, but they are decided at random. Only way to assure yourself of getting a fluff tail Kida is by breeding (or, of course, winning one in a sale).

Where do I send trades?

The foal is the first stage of development for Kida and Noble Kida alike. Like most animals at this young age, foals are inquisitive, adventurous, and a bit awkward. Socialization is of key importance for foals to become accustomed to living within a herd and developing personality. While both species will go through this stage without any physical differentiation between them, Noble Kida will soon develop personalities unique from "natural" Kida. Noble Kida foals have a higher tendancy for engaging in competition and physical activity. While natural Kida foals are by no means lazy, they do tend to be a bit more layed back.

The locals say

Kida are sooo cute when they're little babies! at least, I think so. Foals can follow their momma immediately after birth and wean for about six months. They reach sexual maturity at about one and a half. They're still totally cuties though: as foals they make cute little bleating noises and are really exploratory.

The most frequently of the adult Kida seen are Natural Kida. They live in a variety of physical and social settings; due to their easygoing nature, Natural Kida take to their environment with great ease and agility. They can climb up rocks like mountain goats, feeding on shrubs and vegetation, or be comfortable adjusting to the busling life surrounding the town. Just so, several herds of Kida have been spotted, while it is not unusual to see a lone wanderer. Such a varity of personalities are in existance that, other than a prevailing adaptability, anything can be expected.

The locals say

Normal Kida are the most common. Wild Kida live out in the wild, but they look exactly the same as Kida that you can keep as a pet. Kida are very social creatures, but they have their cranky sides. Male Kida are known to be more territorial, but, just like humans, I found that they have all different personalities. Like this one time, there was this Kida that totally took my popcorn and I was so sad cause I was gonna go eat it without having it eaten by a Kida. OH WELL.

The predominant charactersitic, looks aside, seperating Noble Kida from Natural Kida, is the competitive and dominating personality first apparent as foals. Noble Kida are prideful - once they have developed a ruitine or comformed to an environment - are set in their ways. Though it is a broad sweeping generalization, Noble Kida do tend to have egocentric personalities. In physical appearance, they are larger than the Natural Kida, with shorter body fur and longer tail and mane hair. Due to constant participation in physical competition, their bodies are much more developed and fit for endurance.

The locals say

Noble Kida are usually very rare. They're seen equally showing up in wild and tame populations. They could be described as like, uh, the fancy a** Kida. It's like, there's Kida, and then there's the Noble Kida; they're like the suped-up show version: better looking, "smarter", bigger, better groomed, kind of snobbish. We suspect that it's passed down through genes and is a hereditary trait. It's essentially the guy in the winners circle. Noble Kida are usually seen with eachother, and have been known to fetch far higher prices in the market then just average Kida. Because of this their heads swell a little bit. Still, there are always exceptions.

Though roughly the same size as the Kida, Kidh are rough and tough animals. If they aren't kept as companions in the Village, they live in the Mountains, showing surprising agility in amongst the crumbling rocks and loose soil. They feed off plants that are as sturdy and perseverant as they are and tend to sleep in caves at night to keep out of site of predators. Their fur is coarse and long, often filled with bits of plants and prickles. In additon, both sexes have a sturdy set of horns and a strong set of vegetarian teeth. Personalities vary greatly, though all show an inherent self-confidence that make it possible to live -literally- on the edge.

The locals say

Kidh are almost NEVER tame. It would be like trying to keep a pet elephant. They're a bit quiter, sturdier, and much, much hairier than Kida. Unlike any other variety of Kida, the Kidh have horns that are the same size in both genders. The females use them for protection from wild animals, and the males use them like deer. I think it's kinda silly really, I mean, they don't look like that much fun. But seeing as they are much more... hard working then the rest of the Kida they're built for survival in a harsh climate. Very kind and generally seen as the friendly giants, Kidh are all around a great species.

The Bituk are lizard species that retain a symbiotic relashionship with the Kida. A little larger than the size of an average lizard, the Bituk can be seen riding on the backs of Kida. Though the exact exchange of their relashionship is unknown, the Bituk live peacefully alongside (and on top of) Kida of both species. Not much is known about the Bituk, but they seem to breed in an endless variety of colors, having little fear of danger from the backs of their protectors.

The locals say

The Bituk are these reptilian interlopers that we often find hitchhiking rides on all types of Kida. When I was doing some research out in the wild, I found up to three Bituk on one Kida! And the Kida didn't even seem to mind. What I guessed, is that they have a symbiotic relationship. The Bituk eat bugs off of the Kida, getting a meal, and they also get protection. And Kida get the eyes and the ears(What ears?!) of the Bituk, seeing as the Kida need to look out for predators. Bituk are pretty small, about half a foot to a foot and a half long from nose to tail tip. Very fast, very crafty. It seems the Kida and the Bituk share a common language, or atleast they seem to somehow communicate.

First off, the Kida are not RP mandatory.

However, for some, roleplaying is a fun and challenging task that adds a new level of experience to the breedables. There are many levels of RP, all of which are completely acceptable with the Kida. Some may only wish to stop by and have short bursts of roleplay in-thread on a rather basic level, without delving much into character development. A more in-depth RP has more consistency both in character and in length and may take place in the RP thread. Lastly, the Kida/Kidha now have the option of joining a herd!

Herds may occupy one of several territories in the province. There is only one herd per territory, so herds tend to get quite large. Each has a loose heirarchy dependent on the activity and trust within the members. Each territory has its own unique landscape, shelter, foodsources, and opportunities for adventure. The benefits of being in a herd include protection from predators, increased birth rate, plenty of healthy social interaction, and the abundance of food and potential mates.

The herd lands are divided up into four territories.

(Blue) Snuggled between the grasslands and the mountains lies the Valley. It is the lowest point of any of the four territories, small streams and rivers running through and pooling in hidden ponds. The landscape is very rich and much like the Linden in that it supports quite a few trees, mostly those that are very hearty and old. The trees break in the southern part of the Valley, near the base of the mountains, opening up to a village. Here people and Kida live together in the middle of the four territories.

(Yellow) Rolling green and yellow hills with a few sparse wild oaks trees that provide a bit of cool shade. A few old, hand-stacked rock walls criss-cross the land, weathered and tumbling down. Here an abandoned field still grows wheat good for reclusive shade, play, and even a healthy snack.

(Orange - Kidh ONLY)A line of short mountains to the North East decorates the dry territory. Cliff faces marked by large, unsteady boulders, rocks, and continual landslides make this terrain fit only for nimble, adaptable, hooved animals. However uninhabitable the cliffs may seems at first, there is a hidden wealth in them. Moutain springs dribble from crevices and provide a continual source of fresh water in pools hidden within the rocks. Though trees are unable to grow, shrubs prosper in small clusters, some ripe with berries. In addition, a steady source of hardy, yellow grass grows up between the rocks, unhindered by the shifting surface.

(Red) A rather thick forest littered with random wonders. There are some mountains at the top of the territory which house some small caves, but mostly is the best place for a good view. Like deer, Kida weave trails around in the growth and bush of the area, leaving some easy and convientent paths weaved around from area to area. There's a rather nice hill which perks out from above the rest of the trees where they grow very sparse, and it's a great look out for intruders you can't see from the mountains. Lower in the terrain theres a massive pond, almost a watering hole, and the main gathering place for those who don't want to risk being washed away in the strong rivers. The most pleasant area by far is the meadow, filled with beautiful flowers at almost all times of the year except for winter, and even then delicious berries grow in the bushes.

Once Kida and Noble Kida alike reach a certain age, the desire to...propagate... can become rather hard to resist. Understanding this but wanting to keep the populations under control, a strict system has been set up to monitor the species' breeding.

Unfortunately for all of you with a itch for eugenics, there will not be any breeding between the species: Kida may breed with Noble Kida but not with Kidh. ...anyone attempting to breed their Kida to a Bituk is going to require help that goes beyond the scope of this thread...



Listed here are a few proceedures:

• The amount of foals born in each breeding is a mixture of chance and fidelity. The social network of a herd, wild/city group, and/or bond of a life-mated pair [through RP] greatly increases the chance of a bigger litter. However, larger litters have occurred, even among spontanous pairs.
  
  
• Spontanous pairings (no RP required) where both adults are owned by the same person will result in 2 foals, but only 1 may be kept. Spontaneous pairings of different owners will result in 2 foals. Herded (also includes wild/city Kida that are not in herds but -ARE- RPed) or life-mated pairings (RPed required) may result in up to 4 foals; maximum amout of foals kept by one owner is 2.
  
  
• Foals that are not kept by the owner may be gifted away, given back to the shop for gifting, or sold or evented away with shop permission.
  
  
• Breeding costs 10k. Send trades to the colorist that will be taking on your breeding. Title trade "Breeding. pair x pair." for example "Breeding. Catchra x Zinta."
  
  
• Bituk and Kidh may not breed.
  

Breeding slots may be won from flatsales, raffles, flaffles, gifts, or events. Once you've obtained a breeding slot and decided on a pairing, PM the following form and send a trade to the appropriate colorist (we'll let you know who that is):

Certing Thread

All trades and questions should be directed towards the appropriate colorist unless directed otherwise.

Be sure to title trades appropriately! Sending trade for raffle tickets? say so. Paying for flatsale Kida? say so.

All sales will be conducted in a sane and non-homicidal manner, as dictated by the rules.

The most traditional and easiest way to obtain a Kida. Each flatsale Kida will cost 10k or 10,000g each. Flatsales are the best for newbies.
Flatsales will be speed based or flaffle based. For a speed sales, after the designated GO post, participants must claim a spot (NOT a specific flatsale creature). After the flatsale is over, participants will be allowed to pick their preference based on the order of the posts.
for a flaffle, anyone who likes may enter their name to a list. Then random numbers will be generated to chose the winners. Flaffles are free to enter; only the winners need pay.

Flatsale Rules
1. Only one Kida per person.
2. All Proxies must state who they are posting for in their claiming post so there is no confusion.
3. NO EDITING of posts. If it happends to be an RP-oriented flatsale and you need to fix something, quote your post and make clear the parts you are editing.
4. With a such a low sale price, we ask that all flatsale Kida be payed for strictly in pure.
5. Co-owning allowed. (no more than 2 people, please!)


As the name indicated, a flaffle is a mix between and flatsale and a raffle. The flatsale will be open for a specific amount of time (say, a day) and in that time, anyone can enter for free. Once the time is up, the flatsale will be closed and the names will be assigned numbers which will be randomized to be the winners. Winners then pay the regular flatsale fee of 10k or 10,000g.

Flaffle Rules
1. One Kida per person. A number drawn twice will only count once.
2. Proxies are allowed.
3. Pure only.
4. Co-owning allowed. (no more than 2 people, please!)


The preferred sale type for the gambling Gaian, raffles are composed of a little bit of gold and whole lot of luck. Tickets shall be purchased and pooled, and a random number generator will choose the winner.

Raffle Rules
1. Depending on how sales go, a cap may be place on the number of tickets purchasable by one person. As of right now, there is no cap.
2. Suspicious, mule-like characters will not be allowed to give away their winnings. Offenders will be blacklisted.
3. Tickets cost 100g.
4. Post order in thread.
5. Co-owning allowed. (no more than 2 people, please!)


Often the most pricey way to obtain that warm, squirming Kida you've been craving after, auctions are the bane of newbies and questors alike. Auctions will be pre-colored, perhaps themed, with the possibility of only minor lineart edits. Customs will not be sold by way of auction.

Auction Rules
1. Minimum bid will always be double the flatsale price, 20k, with a minimum bid increment of 1k.
2. Snipe guard set for 30 minutes prior to end of auction.
3. Donation items will be accepted along with pure. Other items must be approved before bidding.
4. Auto bids and caps will be set on a case by case basis.
5. Co-bidding and co-owning are allowed (no more than 2 people for co-owning, please!)


Unable to find that perfect Kida? Perhaps one galloped through your dreams and you've been chasing it ever since? Customs are ideal for people whom have a very clear idea of the sort of Kida, Kidh, or Bituk they want. The opportunity to get a custom will be limited, opened as slots, with availability varying by colorist.

There are two different types of cert available here at the Kida thread. The first, "Classic" is the original cert from the original Kida shop, and the second, "Foliage", is the new version.



All new pets will be put on the Foliage cert by default. If you would prefer to have your Kida be on the Classic cert, please be sure to state so when you give the information (name, gender, etc) for certing.
