All ulaya live on a solitary island, smack dab in the middle of the ocean. The main island contains a number of different terrains, some of which have caused certain groups of ulaya to develop... some rather unique adaptions One moment you could be walking in beautiful meadows, and in the next leap you could find yourself in an icy tundra region. Most of the island experiences all four seasons, while some of the more isolated parts only see a certain type of climate all year 'round. In accordance to the different region adaptations that some have gone through, packs were made and some have even claimed parts of the island as their territory. Some are friendly, some are not. The island is rather large though, so it's pretty easy to avoid stepping onto pack territory. That is, if you know your way around.

Box: Ah, you've finally found a box! Blow off the dust to see what it really looks like. Right now, it can't do much, but soon a beautiful ulaya will emerge! But not until it trusts you. No peeking~

Child (Kits / Pups): D'aww, how sweet. Your ulaya has finally come out of the box it was hiding in! It can move around well now and is instinctively curious, like any child would be. Keep an eye on them and make sure they stay out of trouble!

Adult (Ulayas / 'Layas): You finally have a grown up ulaya! What a beaut, congratulations! Now they can go off and do even more than before: find a mate, have flings, start or join packs, etc. The list goes on and on! Depending on what fate has in store for them, there's even the possibility that they could ascend and eventually become a god.

GENERAL RULES:

Rules are subject to change!

• Obey the shop rules, Gaia ToS, and Breedables Rules & Guidelines. We assume that you've at least glanced at everything before and have been following the rules properly, but just in case: you can find the ToS here and the Breedables Rules/Guidelines here. When it comes to the shop itself, please read the front page and F.A.Q. before you ask questions, your answer may be there.
  
  
• Don't steal. Don't steal any of the art, banners, pets, etc.
  
  
• Be courteous. Try to be respectful towards other users and keep things civil. Don't go flaming others, don't go starting fights, don't use mules (situations involving mules need to be explained - gaia banned your original account for XXX reason, your original account was hacked, etc.), and don't beg or harass other users for things like pets/breedings/plots/concepts/designs/rehomings/etc. In the guild, here in the main thread, via PM, via a mule, it doesn't matter how... just don't.
  
  
• Keep drama to a minimum. Please keep drama to a minimum in the main thread. It's off-putting, and some subjects might be a trigger for some people! If you end up having any problems with anyone in the shop, whether staff or customer, it should be dealt with through private messaging. Any in-thread drama will cause you to receive a warning (the level varying, depending on the situation) from staff, either in-thread or via PM.
  
  
• Refunds will not be given without a valid reason for needing one. If you wish to discuss receiving a refund, please PM the shop's main mule, Jokoa Realm.
  
  
• Don't "buy" what you can't pay for. Don't ask for, enter, or bid on a pet if you don't have enough to pay for it.
  
  
• No advertising. You can certainly put things in your signature, but don't advertise things (other shops, for example) in the main thread or the guild. If you wish to have your shop displayed in our Affiliates post, please PM the shop's main mule, Jokoa Realm.
  
  
• No bumping. Please don't bump the thread with pointless posts. Try and make actual conversation! No random "Bump!", "meow/woof/nyan/etc.", " heart / ninja / etc." or anything silly like that. It can get tiring to see the same thing posted after a while.
  
  
• Cosplays can't be based on actual people. We've done this a few times in the past, but no more. No RL actors, band members, youtube stars, etc. You can't order a Tom Hiddleston or Chris Hemsworth pet, sorry!
  
  
• No "fake" cosplays. It's unfair to those who were saving up for the official cosplay, and things can get even more awkward if the cosplay already exists. This includes, but may not be limited to:
  - Pets with a similar coloring to a character without actually being a cosplay.
  - What we call "personality cosplays", where the pet's personality/history/etc. is directly (and 100% obviously) taken from a character without actually being a cosplay.

ROLEPLAY RULES:
All of our RP rules can be found here!

We use a 3-strike system. Two warnings land you on the greylist and one more warning is allowed after that greylisting. Anything after those three strikes automatically gets you on the blacklist. Anyone found using a mule to try and get around their grey/blacklisting will have their main account and mule account automatically put on the blacklist.

Unless it's something that absolutely needs to be addressed in-thread, things like warnings, notification of being placed on the grey/blacklist, and discussions with those involved are always handled privately - via PM - by the shop's main mule, Jokoa Realm.

GREYLIST:
Those who were warned twice and placed under a probation period. During probation, they can't participate in any shop events (games/sales/breedings/etc.), be given any pets, or win any pets. They're still allowed to do non-event things though, like RPing, posting in-thread, etc.

BLACKLIST:
Those who are permanently banned from the shop. They cannot be removed from this list. Serious issues (art theft/plagiarism/cheating/etc.) allow for immediate blacklisting. They're not welcomed in the shop anymore. They're done.

Q: I PM'd you asking for a pet. Why didn't you reply!?
A: Just asking for a pet via PM is going to get you off to a bad start. Read the front page, and if in doubt, ask in the main thread. The owners here are kind and helpful and someone will be able to answer your questions. There are various ways to obtain a ulaya, and it probably won't take you that long to get your first!

Q: Can I co-own my pet?
A: Yes, you can! Only 3 owners maximum per pet though.

Q: Can I rehome my pet?
A: Yep! All you have to do is head on over to the guild and post in the Cert Changes thread.

Q: Are these pets RP required?
A: They are not. You're not obligated to RP or anything like that here at Jokoa`. We do encourage RP though, and there are even benefits to RPing your pet!

Q: Do you guys do pet trades?
A: We do, yes. Check out the Availability post for more info!

Q: Do you accept RL payment for pets? And do you guys open RL customs?
A: Not at the moment, no.

Q: Are you guys hiring? Can I work here?
A: Not at the moment, sorry! If we happen to be hiring, we'll have a nice thread set up and announce things for you guys.

Q: What do you guys consider a "newbie"?
A: Newbies here at Jokoa` are people with less than three pets!

Q: How many wins are we allowed per month? What about breeding wins? And customs/bribes?
A: Customers are allowed: 2 customs per month, 1 breeding per month, and 1 MCCL breeding every two months. There's no cooldown for bribes or gifts at the moment. When it comes to paid events (flatsales/flaffles/raffles/auctions/etc.), there are no "set in stone" limits, and it varies per event!

Q: Gaia's economy is way different from how it used to be... I feel like the colorists/staffers deserve a little more! Are we allowed to tip the colorists/staffers?
A: Yes, you can! If you feel like including a tip on top of the base price for something, you're more than welcome to add that in. Just make sure to include "xxx + a tip!" or something similar to that in the trade title, so we don't get confused when handling trades. We do have one small guideline regarding tips though. Please don't talk about tips in the main thread or any other shop-related threads, only because it might make others feel uncomfortable/guilty/etc. From all of the staff: thank you very much for any tips, we appreciate them. <3

Q: Can two pets of the same gender breed? And what about two different species, like a Regular and a Ki'rin?
A: They certainly can! The gender of your pet doesn't effect breeding in the slightest. And different species can breed, yes. The only pets incapable of breeding are Perma-kids.

Q: Why do the kids come in boxes? Where do babies come from? How does breeding work here?
A: All ulaya can "do the diddlies", and females do go through a short pregnancy stage before their children are born and placed quickly into boxes. Since reproduction isn't 100% magical here at Jokoa`, ~doin' the diddlies~ can also be done for pleasure (We... don't recommend RPing ~diddlies~ here on Gaia at all, because that will get you in some trouble with the site). Male and female couples (and same sex couples with surrogates) work as you'd expect them to: parents "do the diddly", the mother goes through pregnancy, and then the kids are born. Things for same sex couples gets a little more complicated! These couples can either choose to have a surrogate involved or simply be blessed with boxes overnight by the God/Goddess of Boxes/Children/SOMETHING. Sometimes the God/Goddess of Boxes/Children/SOMETHING decides "Yes, this couple has a strong enough bond. I'll grant them children!", and sometimes the God/Goddess makes little mistakes and ends up granting boxes to ulaya who went out and had a random fling. The God/Goddess of Boxes/Children/SOMETHING is rather silly sometimes.

Q: Can my pet be agender/genderfluid/etc.? Can they have different romantic/sexual orientations? Can they use pronouns outside of he/she/they?
A: Of course! We don't want to exclude anyone or limit things. And for those owners worried about breeding, don't worry: gender doesn't effect breeding too much here at Jokoa`!

Q: What if my question isn't posted here?
A: Feel free to post any general questions in-thread or PM any serious ones to the shop's main mule, Jokoa Realm, and we'll deal with it as soon as possible.

[Jokoa Realm]

There are various ways to obtain a pet!

Keep in mind that there are limits to how many things you can win!

FLATSALES & FLAFFLES:
Sales will normally be held one of two ways: flatsale or flaffle. You may only win one pet in a sale.

Flatsales are run traditionally. You will be given instructions on what you should post and when you should post. This mule or another staff member will post "GO" in large, bold, red-colored text. At that point you may then request a flatsale pet, by using the form provided or following the posting guidelines given by the mule or staff member running the sale. If you're one of the first people to post, you'll receive a pet. Any posts made before the "GO" post will be disregarded and disqualify that user from the sale.

Flaffles are a combination of a flatsale and raffle. For a specified period of time, users will be allowed to claim a ticket by using the provided form. At the end of that time period, a full list of all the participants will be posted. Then the random number generator (RNG) will be used by the mule or staff member running the event in order to decide the winners, If ten users were to participate, a random number from 1 - 10 would be chosen. If the same number is rolled more than once, staff will re-roll until a new number appears. The order the winners are chosen in is typically the order that they will get to chose a pet.

RAFFLES:
If a few pets are put up for raffle, you have to buy tickets, usually 1mil apiece, and then when the raffle is drawn, have the winning ticket! We also do free raffles and other types of raffles when we're in the mood.

AUCTIONS:
Any special or unusual pets will usually be auctioned off. To win them, you have to have the highest bid at the end of the auction. Easy! There are also partner auctions and other types that we sometimes do.

CUSTOMS:
Every so often, you will be able to pay a bit more gold and get the exact pet you want! For more information, see the customs post!

BRIBES:
Bribes usually open on the 1st or 2nd, whenever a colorist feels the need to open them! Colorists will request certain monthly collectibles, pets or other such items with which you can bribe them for pets. For more information, see the bribes post!

PET TRADES:
PM the shop's main mule, Jokoa Realm, with the form below! The title of the PM should be "Pet Trade".

Customs are usually opened every one or two months here at Jokoa`! There isn't a set date for when they open, so colorists tend to open them whenever things work for them. Once a date is picked though, it's always announced in-thread by either the colorist opening their slots or one of the shop moderators. Colorists will usually post their own rules and info on how they're running their custom slots. To make things easier for the staff, payment for customs should be gold only!

Keep in mind that there are limits to how many customs you can win!

Bribes usually open when a colorist doesn't have anything on their to-do list, so there's no actual set date for these! Once a date is picked though, it's always announced in-thread by either the colorist opening their slots or one of the shop moderators. With bribes, instead of just offering gold, you can also offer up Gaia MCs (monthly collectibles) or other items. The minimum for bribe pets is double the usual price, but you're free to offer the colorist more if you feel it will sweeten the deal, so keep that in mind when making your offer. They're called bribes for a reason! When a colorist has bribe slots open, they're run in the colorist's custom thread (not via PM!) over in the [OOC] Customs & Breedings sub-forum, to make things easier. Colorists will usually post their own rules and info on how they're running their bribe slots.

Keep in mind that there are limits to how many bribes you can win!

Breedings are usually opened every few months, a large amount of couples usually chosen by the colorists. When they feel like it, individual colorist sometimes even host breedings in their own breeding threads! Once a date is picked for breeding round to be opened, it's announced in-thread by either one of the colorists participating or one of the shop moderators.

Keep in mind that there are limits to how many breedings you can win!
