We all have a Star in our heart.

A battle rages on. Light and Darkness are forever at war.

The choices you make will guide the future.

Welcome to In the Name of the Moon! We are a Sailor Moon B/C Shop that takes place in present day and operates in real time. Our shop takes heavy inspiration from Sailor Moon canon but our plot deviates after the Dark Kingdom Arc. While it is canonical that Sailor Moon and her friends fought Queen Beryl in Japan in the early 90s, our shop focuses on a completely new environment and operates without most canon characters.

Our story began in 2009 and has evolved in many ways since then, but new players are always welcome and you don't need any knowledge of Sailor Moon canon to play in our world!

The stars call to us.

The universe is ageless and enormous beyond comprehension. Within its great expanse, there are more worlds that can possibly be imagined. In the great infinite, how many civilizations rise and fall?

And, despite all the wondrous possibilities the universe contains, one world sticks out more than all others: a tiny island in the cosmic sea.

One pale blue dot, miniscule compared to the giants of the universe.

One planet: Earth.

And, on Earth, people go about their lives spending most of it unaware of the fathomless universe that envelops and surrounds them. They live, they love, and they dream. Their planet spins as dutifully as the clockwork of their routines. Reality, for the most part, is plain and simple and straightforward. Shadows are just shadows, and dreams are just dreams.

Except for Destiny City, where shadows defy the objects that cast them, and dreams can come true.

A thousand years ago, the ancient court of the Moon Kingdom fell to Queen Beryl and her Dark Kingdom, and the war was lost to time and forgotten by all. The Moon was only the first casualty, and over time life seemed to fade from all other worlds in the universe.

Except, Earth.

Cosmic warriors and dark magic destroyed everything else--and then, they wiped each other out.

For a thousand years, Earth was devoid of magic.

And then, it woke up again.

The people of Destiny City find themselves unknowingly trapped in a warzone built on ancient history, and the universe has decided Destiny City is where they’ll make their final stand. Chaos has a hidden stronghold in the city, and Sailor Cosmos--the Guardian of all Souls, the protector of the great Cauldron, has sent the starseeds of every last soldier she can muster to be reborn on Earth.

She can only hope they will awaken in time to save the last great stronghold in this universe before Chaos lays claim to it, and them.

Things are out of her hands.

The future is in yours.

The battle for Earth is only the beginning.

In the Name of the Moon (ItNotM) has expansive lore and resources, so getting started or returning to play can be a little intimidating! We understand that there’s a lot to go over, so this post is meant to help new or returning players get a gentle introduction into the shop!

New Players, who don’t have any characters in the shop, are eligible for one free civilian character immediately upon joining. Civilian characters do not require art, so this character will not come with an art slot but can be immediately played upon stamping.

To quest for a new character, you must first familiarize yourself with the Character Creation Thread, which has all the information you will need to plan for a new character. For your first free character, you must fill out the form and set up a quest that only has the civilian side written up; this should be posted in the Application Quest subforum. When your quest is finished, you can post them for approval in the Acquired Character Stamping Thread! You can also set up a quest for a powered upgrade in the same subforum, and can post the powered quest in the Non-Acquired Character Stamping Thread! You can quest for characters whether you have won an art slot for them or not. Art is required for powered characters, but not for civilians.

You can acquire an art slot in several ways! Sometimes, artists will open Customs that you can enter in. Through RP and Event participation, players can earn Crown Tokens and cash them in for new characters or other prizes. The shop sometimes has events where players can win new characters, and the shop sometimes opens Bribes, but these are more rare. Players can also acquire character art through MYOs. Sometimes, a player might be Quest Fairied by staff to be given a free character.

Characters do have a cooldown, and the shop does have a type of character cap; all information can be found in this thread. The character cap uses a points system, so as you grow your characters you can get more! Some characters, such as event characters, or the civilian character gifted to new players, don’t count towards a character cooldown.

Growth requirements can only be obtained once you have a stamp and art of your powered character; you can find a detailed breakdown of growth requirements here; when your character is eligible to grow, you can post them in either the Templated Growth Thread (if you won the art on templates or are moving to templates), or the Unique Growth Thread (if you are using MYO to grow).

Players who want to follow shop updates can visit our Shop Updates and Announcements thread to receive a summary of all of our updates. Players who want to see what large meta events they’ve missed, or follow previous large-scale shop plots, can visit the Meta Summary thread.

If older players have been gone for a while, we strongly encourage you to read over the shop updates and announcements; we've made a lot of adjustments and some features may be different! All of the information threads have been updated as of August 2021 so some things may be different than older players remember!

Players can contact The Space Cauldron with any questions, even if they just need some help settling in or catching up! Staff is more than happy to help however they can!

This shop has a few important rules for everyone to follow. We ask that players please be understanding and respect these rules and each other! When playing in our shop, please keep these rules in mind:

    • Please be respectful to others. Do not instigate or purposefully harass someone. Accidents happen and not everyone gets along, but you should not be purposely hostile to someone. If you don't get along, please just don’t interact.

    • Players should be considerate not to godmode or powerplay; this is discourteous to others and often makes for a very negative roleplay experience. Your character is not perfect, nor should they be; they are expected to make mistakes and to take hits fairly. They should not be played with having information they did not ICly acquire and they should not be indestructible and better than everyone around them. You should give players time to respond, and you should not write your actions as having specific consequences (unless this is plotted). If you have questions about how to fairly play your character, you can always ask a member of the RP Mod team, but as a general rule, think about how you are playing your character and be mindful of your RP partner. If a player consistently plays their character as stronger than others, or stronger than their earned IC rank, staff will try to courteously resolve the issue, but we ask players please just be considerate of others and plot things out reasonably.

    • This shop accepts everyone, regardless of gender, sexuality, religion, race, or any other label. Please be respectful to each other, both OOCly and when creating characters. Bullying is not tolerated. Not every character is going to agree with your personal preferences, but this doesn't give you the right to lash out or belittle someone for the character they choose to play. If you dislike a character, please avoid playing with them. Unless a player or character is deliberately offensive, please respect each other's differences.

    • Official shop created templated art cannot be used outside of the shop. You can use your art as a reference piece to commission art of your character elsewhere, but you cannot use the actual templated art in other shops or roleplay environments. This templated art was created for In the Name of the Moon and players own the art design, but not the templates. MYO art commissioned for the shop does not have these restrictions; because players acquired this art outside of the shop, and because it doesn't utilize shop templates, it is theirs to do with as they please.

    • Characters cannot be co-owned or shared. Characters cannot be sold; you can rehome characters to other players, but you cannot sell characters. You can rehome your character to shop for a payment of one Crown Token, but these characters and their art have no value.

    • This shop is meant for fun! Staff will never deliberately make a ruling or choice with the intent or expectation to hurt anyone or negatively impact the RP experience. If players are dissatisfied with a rule or have a suggestion to improve things, they are welcome to contact the shop mule to make a suggestion. We cannot promise changes based on feedback, but we promise to listen and do our best, and every concern will be considered. We only ask that players be considerate and non-hostile when submitting suggestions or complaints. Staff will not engage in retribution or punishment for players that speak out, but we do ask that players use the proper venue to channel concerns and suggestions so we can attempt to resolve them effectively.

    • We have two shop mules:

The Space Cauldron should be used for general shop inquiries and suggestions, rule clarifications, character changes, and plots.

In the Name of the Mule should be utilized for fourth stage nominations, artist hiring applications, art inquiries (guidelines questions, owed art, artist updates), all matters related to grab bag slots, and player or staff concerns.

If you aren't sure which mule to use, please use your best judgment! If you have a question, complaint, or anything you need, please PM it to the mule that best suits your needs. We promise we only want to help you enjoy your experience here, so don't be afraid!

When rules aren't followed, players will typically receive a notice or warning first. Typically punishment only occurs in extreme cases, or when a player is deliberately and knowingly breaking rules. If necessary, a player may be put on the greylist. In the worst case situation, players will be moved to the blacklist.

Greylisting & Blacklisting

Most first time offenses or minor rule breaking offenses will be met with a warning for the player, but in some instances the shop will have no choice but to use more severe punishment methods as a deterrent for this behavior. Please note that staff does not want to punish anyone; we want this to be a fun gaming environment where people can RP and enjoy their characters, so please do not bring malicious or hateful behavior into this community.

Typically, the first punishment after a warning will be greylisting. Greylisting will lock players out of getting any new art (including posting for growths) for a set period of time (to be determined based on offense and number of offenses the player has committed). While greylisted players will be permitted to continue posting to existing roleplays, they will be temporarily banned from participating in any events or new roleplays started for the duration of their greylisting. They will also not be permitted to post in the main thread until their greylisting ends.

If a player repeatedly breaks rules or does not follow the rules of greylisting, or if they commit a major offense, they may be blacklisted. Blacklisting is usually a permanent ban from the shop, which results in the player being forbidden from participating in the shop in any capacity. Characters owned by blacklisted players can be rehomed at the player's discretion or they will be taken out of play and the player cannot get any new characters in the shop.

In the event of major offenses (such as deliberately hateful bullying, abuse, or physical threats or action taken against any person), the player may be greylisted for a minimum of one month, up to being blacklisted. Please note that we will always do as much research and secure as much evidence as possible before punishing someone, and we will speak to all players involved before making a decision to punish anyone. If a member of this community is participating in hateful behavior, staff will investigate regardless of platform. You may not use Gaia, email, Skype, Discord, etc. to harass or bully others. We do not take any of the following lightly and encourage players to avoid the following behavior if they want to avoid punishment from the shop:

    • Attacking another player or their characters or plots with the intent to hurt them or their feelings.
    • Making threats of harm to yourself or other members of the playerbase.
    • Harassing players or repeatedly targeting someone.
    • Breaking rules or ignoring warnings sent by staff.
    • Insensitive, inflammatory comments designed to rile or alarm others.

We understand that sometimes there will be fights and players or friends will not agree on a subject. We respect that sometimes people need to fight to work out problems and hopefully reach a positive conclusion, however, there are boundaries that shouldn't be crossed. If there is a player you do not get along with, we strongly urge you to avoid them and any communication with them unless you are able to remain civil. Do not deliberately antagonize anyone, and do not try to ostracize or target people within the community.

Please try to get along, or at least respect each other!

Sometimes accidents happen, and sometimes people have bad days or emotions get the best of them. We understand this, and we will always try to work with our players, but we also want to protect them. Please treat others how you want to be treated and try to take time for yourself if you are stressed or overwhelmed. There's no reason to take things out on someone else, especially not here.

Destiny City is a fictional metropolis on the Eastern Coast of the United States (Virginia). Destiny City functions as a standard large city in the United States; the shop operates in real time, so unless otherwise stated, existing locations, brands, and current events can be assumed to be happening in the real world as much as in our RP world. A major current exception to this is Covid-19 which, for the sake of RP opportunities, never caused a major lockdown and does not exist in the shop.

Destiny City has a huge population, and though the powered war is often written off as 'gang related hostilities', it doesn't seem to prevent people from living here. Destruction runs rampant in Destiny City, so the property damage rate is quite a bit higher, however there’s always someone offering cheap rent and good insurance.

Destiny City is a thriving metropolis despite also being a hotspot for crime. Anyone living in Destiny City is almost guaranteed some level of success; it is a place of opportunity and growth. However, due to the crime, there is a risk of being a victim in an ever expanding wave of crime. The media tries to minimize reports of 'crime', both natural and those caused by powered individuals. While some news may advertise the attacks and natural disasters, this news is mostly drowned out and many legitimate stories are written off as something for the tabloids.

Destiny City has a huge population; the official death toll from youma attacks, starseed thefts, and casualties of war are skewed because most of the deaths cannot be classified as murder. In instances of starseed deaths, it might simply appear as though the person slipped into a coma or died a natural death. Youma can do damage in many different ways—one youma may breathe a toxic gas, one might maim, and one might simply drain all the energy out of someone. These might be written off as attacks from stray animals or gang attacks. There is no denying that Destiny City has a lot of unnatural deaths, but the large population seems to lessen the impact of how many deaths are actually occurring per day.

Destiny City is thriving and is considered a fairly progressive location. Same-Sex Marriage is legal. You must be at least sixteen to drive, eighteen to purchase cigarettes, and twenty one to purchase alcohol, but marijuana is legal (as long as you use responsibly and go through appropriate legal channels!).

The rules for Destiny City generally adhere to reality, but players may be able to get approval for outliers by sending in a PM to the shop mule, The Space Cauldron, detailing the plot/background in mind, as well as the player expressing that they have done solid research and understand what they are asking. For example, child labor laws might prevent anyone under fourteen from working a legal job, but if the player was aware of child labor laws and knew that this would be illegal/could cause trouble down the line and was prepared to work with the shop to find out what was acceptable, the shop might be able to work with them. Generally, players are asked to research things (such as child labor laws, medical access, public school practicum, adoption, civil rights, etc.) and make a judgment call on if there is some way it could be worked into the shop environment. If they intend to pursue any of these things in a capacity that is irregular or doesn't closely adhere to reality, we would ask that they contact the shop mule to discuss what they want and work out options.

Due to the high population and crime, there is a constant influx of police officers. DC Police have a 20 week training period at their police academy; when a station is hiring, if the candidate does not have police training but is a good fit, they will send them to training. The Academy will accept interested parties to fill remaining slots in the class as needed, but candidates that have the interest of stations/hiring prospects already laid out will always take priority. Classes cost 3.5k out of pocket but is paid for by the station hiring, or can be reimbursed after someone has a job in Destiny City. Applicants must be 18 to apply. Destiny City is known for being a little lax due to the necessity of police officers, and may overlook juvenile crimes and/or minor crimes with an otherwise good track record. While there are many good officers, there is a high level of corruption in many stations, either due to Negaverse influence or just due to the crime rate in the city/crime being more lucrative.

The District Attorney is an elected official in Destiny City. Because there is only one District Attorney in Destiny City, they are treated with the same rules as the Chief of Police, the Mayor, and other one-of-a-kind positions that can only be filled by one person. If a player has any questions about any important NPCs that exist in the city and would be known by the general public in the near future, please let us know! Presently there is no list of important figures within the community but at some point the shop may create one for general public use.

Destiny City has its own subway system, several power stations (both coal based, and more recently they have expanded to try and incorporate wind and solar powered energy) and some aerospace programs nearby. There is a military base only about an hour away. Destiny City is a cultural melting pot; there are still large ethnic neighborhoods, but the City is constantly expanding to fit the needs of its communities.

Destiny City does not have any breed specific legislation for dogs or other domestic animals, but it does have laws on keeping endangered and exotic species as pets outside of a zoo or legal recuse. While the city may not have laws on the matter, other private organizations, landlords, apartments, etc, may feel differently and have their own private rules on the matter. The State of Virginia allows each County, City, or Town to determine its own system in handling hybrid animals. Destiny City's laws require that if the person is aware that their pet is a hybrid with wild parents that the animal needs to be registered and an agreement signed that should anything happen, the owner of the animal held accountable for damages. An inspection is also included in this to deem that the owner is able to accommodate the needs of the breeds. However, should the animal be a mutt and adopted without knowledge of the ancestors, registration is not required unless the owner is made aware through tests provided by a licensed veterinarian.

Destiny City borders an expansive forest and there are nearby mountains for hiking. Though it is landlocked, it is about forty five minutes from the beach. Destiny City also has a man-made reservoir; other notable locations, including player locations, can be found in the Destiny City Guidebook!

Please assume that natural disasters (such as earthquakes, hurricanes, etc) should not affect Destiny City unless the shop makes an announcement. Generally players are free to use whatever weather you like (within reason); if they need a rainy day, or a sunny day, or a heat wave or cold front, to facilitate plots, players are free to write this into their roleplays provided it is not abnormal! It should not be snowing in Summer, for example!

Destiny City officials always have an excuse for the damage caused, and while you will hear reports about gang activity and terrorist attacks, the majority of damage caused between powered battles are given another reason. Common excuses for damage done in Destiny City include natural disasters (such as meteors, lightning strikes or bad storms), faulty wiring, poor construction, etc. Typically powered battles should not result in major destruction of local or city property (however if you have a plot and want to send it to The Space Cauldron, you can probably get approval to do more damage!) Damaging or destroying small, player owned buildings or locations is fine (with player permission). Destruction of abandoned buildings is far more reasonable than destruction of a skyscraper!

There are several unique factions that can be quested for in our shop! While most factions are common, some factions are rare. Common characters can be quested by anyone and are available in customs, but rare characters can only be quested by players who meet certain requirements and are not generally available in customs.

All of our powered factions have detailed information threads in the guild; our Character Creation Information and Forms thread also has a general overview to help players when plotting for them.

      Civilians

Nearly all factions must start out as civilians first. Civilians are unpowered people that populate Destiny City. However, civilians can unlock magical power and awaken into nearly all of our available powered factions. Civilians do not have any growth requirements to power up; players simply need to acquire a slot to power them up. When a civilian powers up, players can continue roleplaying them in their civilian form as well as their powered form.

Civilians have no alignment; they are simply people. When they power up, their personality typically does not change. They can power up into an Order faction or a Chaos faction; all factions have different goals. They are a common faction, which means that there are no requirements for questing for them; players can choose to get a civilian character before powering them up or they can purchase the civilian at the same time they get the powered character. You cannot acquire a powered character/powered upgrade without an attached civilian side.

Once powered, civilian identities need to be carefully protected. Powered characters may share their civilian identity with members of the same alignment with them, but Chaos characters and Order characters cannot learn each others’ identities.

Regardless of circumstances, no powered character can know the civilian identity of a powered character on the other side. Because this has the potential to be a game-breaking mechanic, a magical glamour will activate if someone learns the civilian identity of a member of an enemy faction, regardless of their relationship with each other. If a powered identity is compromised, they will magically receive a new glamour that will make them appear as a completely new person, rendering them unrecognizable by friends and family. This glamour may activate immediately upon discovery or may activate as late as one week after the discovery is made. This allows for characters considering a side swap to perform plots within a reasonable time period. Even if a character is not side swapping, they will receive a new civilian glamour if theirs is ever compromised. If they do not side swap and simply have a compromised identity, they will keep all of their memories but will adopt a new civilian appearance and identity. There is no exception to this; any Order character cannot learn a Chaos character's civilian identity, or vice versa.

An unpowered civilian might learn the identity of generally chaos or order characters, but rarely both. (You should PM the The Space Cauldron if this is a plot you want to pursue, because this does come with risks and repercussions!)

      Order Senshi

Order Senshi are commonly referred to as just 'Senshi', or 'White Moon Senshi'. They are a common faction, which means that there are no requirements for questing for them. They are an Order faction, which means that they are allied with other Order characters, and they typically oppose Chaos factions.

Sailor Senshi are magical guardians tasked with protecting a celestial body in space, known as their Homeworld. Like the canon Sailor Scouts, these Senshi are named for the Celestial Body they draw their power from, and they have a unique power sphere that their magic is themed off of. Senshi have three guaranteed stages: Basic Senshi, Super Senshi, and Eternal Senshi. These stages can be unlocked by meeting growth requirements. A fourth stage, known as a Royal Senshi (a Prince or Princess) can be earned, but these are rare stages and have no actual requirements to meet; a player will be contacted if they have been selected to unlock this stage for their character.

A civilian who has a Senshi starseed can power up into an Order Senshi when a Mauvian finds and awakens them. If they were to corrupt, they would become a Dark Mirror Senshi or a Corrupted Senshi, depending on which Chaos faction claimed them.

      Knights

Knights are a common faction, which means that there are no requirements for questing for them. They are an Order faction, which means that they are allied with other Order characters, and they typically oppose Chaos factions.

Knights are magical guardians tasked with protecting a Wonder on a planet. Wonders are sites of great importance on that world, and house a piece of the Code--an ancient entity of great power that was broken up into many pieces to prevent anyone from abusing its power. Knights fight with magical weapons and have access to a pool of magic themed off of the planet they serve on. They are named after the Wonder they draw their power from. Knights have three guaranteed stages: Page, Squire, and Knight. These stages can be unlocked by meeting growth requirements. A fourth stage, known as a Royal Knight can be earned, but these are rare stages and have no actual requirements to meet; a player will be contacted if they have been selected to unlock this stage for their character.

A civilian can either be a reincarnated Knight, or the very distant descendant of a Knight who protected a Wonder a thousand years ago. They awaken when their magical artifact appears in front of them, usually in a time of need. If they were to corrupt, they would become a Negaverse Officer.

      Dark Mirror Senshi

Dark Mirror Senshi are a common faction, which means that there are no requirements for questing for them. They are a Chaos faction, which means that they may ally themselves with other Chaos characters, and they typically oppose Order factions.

Dark Mirror Senshi are corrupted versions of Order Senshi. They are magical guardians that have a celestial body in space, known as their Homeworld, but due to their corruption by a Chaos Seed that has bonded to a strange entity known as ‘Mirrorspace’ these connections have been blocked. Like the canon Sailor Scouts, these Senshi are named for the Celestial Body they draw their power from, and they have a unique power sphere that their magic is themed off of. While they cannot access their homeworld, they have special powers granted to them from the Chaos Mirror Seed. Dark Mirror Senshi have three guaranteed stages: Basic Dark Mirror Senshi, Super Dark Mirror Senshi, and Eternal Dark Mirror Senshi. These stages can be unlocked by meeting growth requirements. A fourth stage, known as a Royal Dark Mirror Senshi (a Prince or Princess) can be earned, but these are rare stages and have no actual requirements to meet; a player will be contacted if they have been selected to unlock this stage for their character.

A civilian who has a Senshi starseed can power up into a Dark Mirror Senshi if a member of the Dark Mirror Court who is an Eternal or higher finds them. An Eternal Dark Mirror Senshi can take them to Mirrorspace to be awakened, and a Royal Dark Mirror Senshi can awaken them at will. If they were to purify, they would purify into an Order Senshi.

      Negaverse Officers

Negaverse Officers are a common faction, which means that there are no requirements for questing for them. They are a Chaos faction, which means that they may be allied with other Chaos characters, and they oppose Order factions. Because they all serve the Negaverse, Negaverse Officers work closely with Corrupted Senshi, Half-Youma, Youma, and Corrupted Mauvians.

Negaverse Officers are civilians who were chosen by the Negaverse and were recruited to further their goals. Negaverse Officers fight with weapons that begin very weak, but grow to be lethal. They are named after a mineral. Negaverse Officers have three guaranteed stages: Lieutenant, Captain, and General. These stages can be unlocked by meeting growth requirements. A fourth stage, known as a General Sovereign (General King or Queen) can be earned, but these are rare stages and have no actual requirements to meet; a player will be contacted if they have been selected to unlock this stage for their character.

A civilian who does not have a powered starseed, or who has a Knight starseed can power up into a Negaverse Lieutenant if a General of the Negaverse (or anyone of higher rank) recruits them. If they were to purify, they would become a Knight.

      Corrupted Senshi

Corrupted Senshi are a common faction, which means that there are no requirements for questing for them. They are a Chaos faction, which means that they may be allied with other Chaos characters, and they oppose Order factions. Because they all serve the Negaverse, Corrupted Senshi work closely with Negaverse Officers, Half-Youma, Youma, and Corrupted Mauvians.

Corrupted Senshi are corrupted versions of Order Senshi. They are magical guardians that have a celestial body in space, known as their Homeworld, but due to their corruption by Metallia, these connections have been blocked and they instead serve her using the power of their world. Like the canon Sailor Scouts, these Senshi are named for the Celestial Body they draw their power from (though, like Negaverse Officers, they may choose to receive a mineral name upon joining the Negaverse). They also have a unique power sphere that their magic is themed off of. While they cannot access their homeworld, they have special powers granted to them from Metallia. Corrupted Senshi have three guaranteed stages: Corrupted Basic Senshi, Corrupted Super Senshi, and Corrupted Eternal Senshi. These stages can be unlocked by meeting growth requirements. A fourth stage, known as a Corrupted Royal Senshi (a Prince or Princess) can be earned, but these are rare stages and have no actual requirements to meet; a player will be contacted if they have been selected to unlock this stage for their character.

A civilian who has a Senshi starseed can power up into a Corrupted Senshi if a General Sovereign or Corrupted Royal Senshi of the Negaverse recruits them. If they were to purify, they would purify into an Order Senshi.

      Order Mauvians

Mauvians are also known as Guardian Cats, and are important in finding and aiding Senshi and helping them power up. Mauvians are a rare faction, which means that players must be active in the shop for at least a year or have at least one third stage character. These Mauvians are considered an Order faction, and as such will ally themselves with other Order characters; they will oppose Chaos factions.

Order Mauvians are aliens from a distant world and appear on Earth appearing like normal cats except for the star on their forehead. When they unlock more power, they can take the form of a cat person, who appears human but has claws, cat ears, and a cat tail. Order Mauvians have no naming requirements, and only come with two guaranteed stages: a cat form, and a humanoid form. Players may choose to have their Mauvian unlock an additional form, known as a Mauvian Senshi form; this form allows their Mauvian to power up into a fake Senshi to better fight.

A civilian cannot power up into a Mauvian; Mauvians are a rare species and are not human. If they were to corrupt, they would join the Negaverse as a Corrupted Mauvian.

      Corrupted Mauvians

Mauvians are also known as Guardian Cats, and are important in finding and guiding Senshi. Corrupted Mauvians are a rare faction, which means that players must be active in the shop for at least a year or have at least one third stage character. These Mauvians are considered a Chaos faction, which means that they may be allied with other Chaos characters, and they oppose Order factions. Because they all serve the Negaverse, Corrupted Senshi work closely with Corrupted Senshi, Negaverse Officers, Half-Youma, and Youma.

Corrupted Mauvians are aliens from a distant world and appear on Earth appearing like normal cats except for the star on their forehead. When they unlock more power, they can take the form of a cat person, who appears human but has claws, cat ears, and a cat tail. Corrupted Mauvians have no naming requirements, and only come with two guaranteed stages: a cat form, and a humanoid form. Players may choose to have their Mauvian unlock an additional form, known as a Mauvian Senshi form; this form allows their Mauvian to power up into a fake Senshi to better fight.

A civilian cannot power up into a Mauvian; Mauvians are a rare species and are not human. All Mauvians begin as Order characters, so a General Sovereign or Corrupted Royal Senshi would need to forcibly corrupt them into the Negaverse. If they were to purify, they would become an Order Mauvian.

      Half-Youma Negaverse Officers

Half-Youma Negaverse Officers who are brought into the shop as a new character are considered a rare faction, which means that players must be active in the shop for at least a year or have at least one third stage character. Players can also plot to have their Negaverse Officer partially youmafy at a later point in time by sending in a side-swap plot. Half-Youma are a Chaos faction, which means that they may be allied with other Chaos characters, and they oppose Order factions. Because they all serve the Negaverse, Half-Youma Negaverse Officers work closely with other Negaverse Officers, Corrupted Senshi, Youma, and Corrupted Mauvians.

Half-Youma Negaverse Officers are civilians who were chosen by the Negaverse and were recruited to further their goals. The distinction between Half-Youma Negaverse officers and normal Negaverse Officers is that they have been partially corrupted by the Negavere’s Chaos and have mutated into a half monster type being. They do not have weapons like Negaverse Officers but instead their body becomes their weapon and they gain unique magical and physical abilities.

A civilian who does not have a powered starseed, or who has a Knight starseed can power up into a Half-Youma Lieutenant if a General of the Negaverse (or anyone of higher rank) recruits them incorrectly. These officers can turn into a Half-Youma due to a traumatic awakenings, by being exposed to too much chaos, by eating too many starseeds shortly after awakening, or by merging with a youma shortly after awakening. This stage can be earned more commonly through plot. The only way to remove the partial youmafication is for them to purify out of the Negaverse, where they would become a Knight.

      Youma

Youma who are brought into the shop as a new character are considered a rare faction, which means that players must be active in the shop for at least a year or have at least one third stage character. Players can also plot to have their existing characters youmafy at a later point in time by sending in a side-swap plot. Youma are a Chaos faction, which means that they may be allied with other Chaos characters, and they oppose Order factions. Because they all serve the Negaverse, Youma work closely with other Negaverse Officers, Corrupted Senshi, Half-Youma, and Corrupted Mauvians.

Youma were at one point in time human, but have since become mutated and corrupted under the Negaverse’s Chaos. They have become monstrous beings who live to Metallia. Their bodies are their weapons and they gain unique magical and physical abilities. They can be named after anything; characters brought into the shop cannot use any name that would otherwise be reserved for another faction, but characters who are plotted to become youma can retain their old name. Youma only have one guaranteed stage and only one piece of art. They do not have growth requirements to grow.

A civilian or a powered character can be youmafied; civilians become weaker youma known as feral youma and powered characters become stronger youma, known as humanoid youma. Characters can be youmafied in a traumatic awakening, by being exposed to too much chaos, by eating too many starseeds shortly after awakening, or by being forcibly corrupted shortly after awakening. This stage can be earned more commonly through plot. Civilians, Order Senshi, Knights, Negaverse Officers, Half-Youma, and Corrupted Senshi can be youmafied. The only way to remove the youmafication is for them to purify out of the Negaverse, where they would become whatever they were before they were youmafied.

Most factions come with multiple stages, however players must roleplay and meet a set of requirements to unlock and acquire art of the next stage. All common characters are guaranteed three stages and three stages of art (provided they meet growth requirements and cooldowns) ; some rare characters may be eligible for three stages of art, but some rare characters follow different rules.

As characters reach requirements and have been in play for a set period of time, they will become eligible to grow; growing ICly unlocks new powers and abilities, and OOCly they will get new art. The shop uses three different types of roelplay to count for growth: Battles, Regulars, and Solos.

A roleplay must be finished for it to be applicable for growth; this means you must have an obvious exit or end, either by labeling the RP as finished in the title, the last post, or by having a convincing lead out/final post. Because group roleplays, or Open Roleplays (roleplays that are open for anyone to join, also known as ORPs) can sometimes stay open for a while and never have a concrete close, you can use these for growth as long as you post 500 words and have a clear exit for your character.

Types of Roleplay

  • Battle - A battle roleplay is a roleplay that occurs between two different players, where each of them uses at least one powered character. Only combat between two powered characters can be counted as a battle, and this usually means that they must be engaged in a physical or magical battle. These battles can either be opposing faction members fighting, or allies sparring. Once per growth stage, two powered characters can team up against an NPC youma, however only one disposable youma battle is applicable towards growth. Sometimes the shop or players will run events that use a superpowered youma as a big boss--this is usually exempt from the 'one youma battle per growth stage' because the youma is much stronger than the average disposable, and will be clarified OOCly in the roleplay. PC Youma that exist in the shop as stamped, arted characters with their own profile do not count towards the 'one disposable youma' battle--they are more powerful than the average youma and count as a normal battle! To count for growth requirements, a character must have at least 500 words posted in the roleplay. A Battle roleplay can be used to substitute a regular roleplay, or three solos, but nothing can substitute a battle.

  • Regular - A regular roleplay is a roleplay that occurs between two different players, where each of them plays a character. This can be either civilian or powered roleplay, but generally means that a battle did not occur or there was no physical fighting while powered. Each character must have at least 500 words in the roleplay for it to be applicable as a growth requirement. A regular roleplay can substitute three solos, but cannot be used to substitute a battle.

  • Solo - A solo is a roleplay written by one person; it will usually only feature their characters, though multiple characters of theirs may appear in one solo, or they may puppet another player's character (with permission). They may also include NPC/background characters, but their character should be the primary focus if the solos is meant to be used for growth. A solo must be 500 words to count for requirements. If multiple characters are being played, each must have 500 words for it to count as a requirement. Solo word requirements are stackable! This means that you don't have to write many different solos, but if you write a single solo featuring only one character that has 1000 words, it would count for two solos. If you are writing a solo featuring two of your characters, each must have at least 500 words to count for a solo. Writing 800 words for one character and 200 for another means that only one of them would get the solo requirement filled. A battle or regular roleplay can substitute three solos, but solos cannot replace battles or regulars.

Substituting Requirements

Requirements are ranked in order of importance of growth: Battles, Regulars, and then finally solos. In all cases, you can always swap down. This means, if you have extra battles completed, you can fill your requirement for regulars with them. If you have extra battles or regulars, you can use them to cover three solo requirements. You cannot swap up. Three solos cannot be used to replace Regulars or Battles, and Regulars cannot replace Battles. You must complete the minimum of Battles for each stage.

In addition to substituting Regulars or Solos with Battles, you can also use growth items!

    User Image

Growth items are OOC items that can be used to substitute a written requirement. Growth items are locked to a player once they are earned, but they can be used on any of their characters.

Henshin Pens - can replace one Battle
Luna-Ps - can replace one Regular
Star Candies - can replace one Solo

Growth items can be be won from games, contests, or raffles, and can be purchased with Crown Tokens. You will need to make a post in our Growth Item Log, so please keep a clear record of where you won your Growth Item there! Please remember that even though you can save up Growth Items, they should only account for up to 1/3rd of your Growth Requirements. They are meant to help you reach requirements, but your character must still be roleplayed to grow! Growth Items can be used to grow 1/3 of your battles, 1/3 of your regulars, and 1/3 of your solos, not 1/3 of your total requirements. You cannot completely avoid doing battles with growth items!

The only exception to the Growth Item cap is for our official shop artists; because artists work so hard to provide art for our shop, they are allowed to use more growth items than the standard player. If you see an artist using more than 1/3rd growth items to grow their character, this means that they have earned it!

Growth Path for Guardian Cats

Guardian Cats, also known as Mauvians, have a unique growth pattern. As non-human characters, they have different requirements. They are only guaranteed two stages ICly and OOCly provided they meet growth requirements, however they can unlock an optional Senshi form. As soon as a Guardian Cat quest is stamped and their cat art is acquired, players may play them. Guardian Cats have no requirements to unlock their Cat form. The Guardian Cat's Cat and Humanoid form are won at the same time, but you cannot play the Humanoid form until requirements are met! As long as either the Cat form or the Humanoid form has completed art, the Cat form can be played.

      Humanoid Form:

Requirements to earn unlock Humanoid Form:

You can use Growth Items to swap for 1/3 of your battles, 1/3 of your regulars, and 1/3 of your solos. You can also swap battles to cover regulars at a 1:1 ratio, or you can use battles or regulars to swap for solos at a 1:3 ratio.

      Mauvian Senshi Form:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

      A Guardian Cat's Senshi Form

Requirements to earn unlock the Mauvian Senshi Form:

    • This is a completely optional stage that is awarded to Guardian Cat players who want to unlock a form that lets them physically engage in battle. Mauvian Senshi are synthetic Senshi stages and have unique requirements; players should see the associated information post for more information, including how to design these characters and how to claim them.
    • Must be in play for a minimum of six months after earning their Humanoid form.
    • Must have completed eight RPs since earning the Humanoid form (at least two of the eight should be battles)
    • Must have awakened or upgraded Senshi at least six times (two of which must have been after obtaining the humanoid form. One solo between the player and their own characters can be used for one awakening/growth requirement, but the rest must be done through RP)
    • Must have participated in two large events (any powered ORP, meta event, meeting, or large-scale/long-term plot can suffice!) at some point in time. Typically these events will include at least five characters.
    • Must submit a plot where the Guardian Cat finds an asteroid crystal and constructs their Henshin Pen. The Henshin pen can take on a more unique form than the uniform Senshi Henshin Pens; this pen can be a small object that represents the Guardian Cat in some way. Over time, these crystals have been scattered throughout Destiny City so can reasonably be found anywhere, however a Guardian Cat can only ever find one, and must have completed the above requirements before they can do so.

In addition to our general shop rules, there are also a few things to keep in mind while roleplaying in our shop:

  • The shop operates in real time, so anything happening in the real world should be expected to also be happening in Destiny City or the rest of the world. There may be some exceptions to this rule! For example, Covid-19 was and is not a part of our shop; we chose to omit the pandemic from our roleplay world so characters and plots could continue without being affected by lockdowns. if something is occurring in the real world and is not also happening in our roleplay environment, we will make a public announcement about it!

  • RP should typically be done in past-tense, third person writing. Players who are writing solos may choose to write things in a different way, or players may include things like journal entries or text messages in roleplays where they are important.

  • Swearing and violent content is allowed within the boundaries of the Gaia TOS. Please do not push this; if you do not think what you are roleplaying is PG-13, please don't post it here. If you are roleplaying something with particularly graphic violence or unnerving content that still falls under the PG-13 umbrella, please post a warning at the beginning of your roleplay to warn people. We ask that people please be considerate of potentially triggering subject matter and give others the opportunity to curate their reading content by providing warnings.

  • Roleplays must be put in the appropriate subforum; if you make a mistake and post a roleplay in the wrong location, please just let a staff memberk now and they can move it! While players can move locations in a roleplay, please use your best judgment to sort it. For example, if a Senshi is visiting their homeworld and the roleplay begins with them preparing to leave in Destiny City, but they spend the majority of their time on their homeworld, this would go in the Deep Space subforum.

  • Please be prepared to send in plots for big events, especially if they involve powered characters! You should not be destroying anything major in Destiny City, nor should you be breaking the rules established for set locations. Staff will always work with players to give them the opportunity to roleplay big events, but these do need approval. You can find more information on getting plot approvals here.

  • When posting a roleplay, please title it appropriately! Different types of roleplays can be used for growth, and you can read more about them here. Titles should indicate if the roleplay is either a Solo, Regular or Battle, should include a name for the roleplay (like a chapter title; this can be anything you want), and include the characters participating.

An appropriate solo might be: [Solo] Dinner and a Movie (Jennifer), or [S ] Dinner and a movie [Jennifer]

An appropriate title for a battle roleplay might be: [Battle] Fight! (Mercury x Jadeite), or [ B] Fight! [Mercury & Jadeite]

If you are doing an Open Roleplay, you might indicate this in your title! For example, a mass melee ORP title might be posted as: [Battle ORP] Murderfest! Your titles may also indicate if only a specific faction or character group is invited, such as [ORP] School Dance (Meadowview Students). If there are too many characters to name, you might instead label a roleplay [R] Celebration (Group). There's a lot of freedom here, but please use your best judgment and remember that staff needs to be able to easily identify the type of roleplay and the characters involved!
