Hytes are generally 5-stage pets, with an RP-incentive bonus stage. Past the protoform cylinder, each stage is unique to the individual pet.
Better sized versions of each stage without the cert will be PM'd to the owners upon growing. The certed image of the pet is hosted on our servers - the certed pet will grow automatically.
. Stage 1 - Protoform Cylinder .

The Protoform Cylinder contains the growing embryo. An embossed symbol at the base identifies the sex, and the visual projector indicates the dominant colour. The embryo is usually contained for about a week…
. Stage 2 - Baby .

…before automatic release when the embryo has developed into fully-grown baby form. In this stage, the Hyte has all outward characteristics of the animal its genome was derived from, save for the eyes which will remain constant throughout its life. As a baby, it may understand human language, but not speak it. The exception would be Hytes who emerge as humanoid hybrid babies - a form achievable only through Generation, as a Custom option, and very rare events. It will remain in this stage for approximately two weeks…
. Stage 3 - Child .

…before it develops a humanoid appearance, with its animal traits becoming secondary characteristics. Henceforth, the Hyte will develop both physically and mentally like a human child, with the addition of any natural skills derived from its animal traits, and at an accelerated rate till adulthood. All Hytes will be attired in specially developed bodysuits formed from unstable molecules in the child to teen stages to accommodate for secondary characteristic adaptation. Accessories and items may be equipped from this stage onwards.
. Stage 4 - Teen .

At this stage, the Hyte stands at the cusp of physical stabilisation. While some will have their personalities fairly well developed by this point, others will find it an awkward period of transition. [This is the stage where one has the last chance to influence the final appearance of the Hyte through RPing before it reaches adulthood. Owners will also be contacted for a tektek'd version of a simple outfit to be worn in the adult stage - outfits complicated in appearance will require an extra fee to render.]
. Stage 5 - Adult .

Congratulations! The Hyte has survived the trials of youth and is now set to enter society and make a difference! [Or slack off as an underachiever for the rest of their life, either way.] At this age of young adulthood, a range of options from college to work awaits their choice, and yours…
. RP +1 Stage - Career .

…and if the choice is right - the Hyte's excellence in their chosen field will be acknowledged with a bonus stage growth! This stage can only be achieved through dedicated RP, and usually comes far later in life. The Hyte will be rendered in the full glory of their career option, and owners will have a choice of cert display between the previous adult stage and this.
Please don't feel like you have to work towards this stage! HyTech will always be RP-optional. Hytes are considered fulfilled at the Adult stage - this is merely a bonus to reward those who might like to invest time into the growth of their Hyte.
RP Requirements for RP Stage
♠ Since it is primarily Career-centric [with the term "career" loose enough to include paths such as professional slacker, devoted house-spouses…], the Hyte's vocation must be clearly stated [either explicitly or through the narration of its activities]
♠ RP Journal [Cert Thread] must be maintained
Compulsory Components: a. Profile b. Relationship with/Impressions of other Hytes* c. Album for Growth Stages c. RP Record for linking to RP threads
* Only those your Hyte has interacted with/are significant to your Hyte need to be discussed
♠ You may RP the Hyte's progress on his path in life through any means, including personal journal posts, RP threads in the guild [PRP and/or ORP], and/or casual shop thread RP, but all RP that is meant to count towards the Stage Requirements must be locatable from the RP Journal [e.g. links to RP threads, quotes from shop thread, etc.]
♠ When you feel that you have done a sufficient amount of RPing to reasonably establish that your Hyte has achieved his career path, notify the staff and we will review your progress
♠ If we accept your application, you will be asked for further details, including a reference to the job uniform or its equivalent; otherwise, we will give you a gauge of how far along you are
What if my Hyte has a midlife crisis and decides to change his career?
♠ The process must then begin anew, with a full account of why this career change occurred. We have not yet decided at the time of writing, but we may require a proportional increase in the amount of RP required. At this time we have decided not to restrict owners from trying for further paths in life, but we also don't want owners to treat the RP stage as a way of getting multiple 'final art' pieces, and may thus impose a limit in the future.
* Mercenarily speaking, the RP stage and more 'final art' pieces may be allowed under RL$ commission conditions in the future.
