You CAN only get it once, but it's still a good idea to get the shot because it will supposedly keep you from getting Shingles later on, which is like Chicken Pox but localized and worse, plus Chicken Pox is a combo vaccine. Even if you've had the big one, there's probably something you haven't had.

Oh, yes. I know all about the Shingles. My younger sibling had them a couple years back. I'd never heard it would prevent you from getting Shingles, though, to be honest.

I might be making that part up. I'm not sure. But I'm pretty sure it's a combo vaccine that will keep you from getting other things.

And I don't know? XD I can't go to school until January 22nd because of enrollment issues. T I also can't go until I get the Chicken Pox vaccination (even though I had the Chicken Pox sixteen years ago?).

Yiikes, that's kinda odd that it's mandatory for you to get the pox vaccination. I see chicken pox and the flu as signs of strength, it's just one of those tests of endurance.

They require vaccinations for school mostly because you're in a setting where things are easily transmitted. You don't want to have an epidemic on your hands.

Most schools require vaccinations against the more common major diseases - whooping cough, chicken pox, mumps, measles, tetanus, etc, and colleges either require or recommend meningitis vaccines because that's deadly and easy to catch and spread in a dorm environment.

The vaccine only works for five years or so. I had to get a booster last year.

(Never ever opt to do your chicken pox, meningitis, whooping cough, tetanus, and HPV boosters all on the same day. You will get sicker than hell.)
