Forest Hymn
❧Deep with in the growth of forest lay the hinterlands of the wolves. With little tarnished at the hand of humans, the hinterlands flourished with both plant and animal life. Though, in all honesty most humans feared treading too far into it's bramble for wolves roamed the territory. Many of folklore had demonized the wolves and people thought them better dead. But the animals were not a a malevolent nature, and were only doing what they needed to survive. "Eat or be eaten." Such was the way of the wild, and on their land humans were of no exceptions.
Resentment between the two grew.
However, not all people felt this way, and instead of trying to hunt them into near extinction some chose to live among them. For several years there was a sense of uncertainty and distrust amongst the wolves and people of the forest, for they had only ever seen each other as predators....
One morning, a girl of the forest kin lay in slumber beneath the brush. The air was crisp and calm as birds sang lovely melodies amongst the trees. But all this peacefulness was abruptly startle from the bellowing thunder of gun shots ringing throughout the canopy. For a few moments everything was still and silent. The birds stopped their chatter, and their air held only tension. Seconds later sounds could be heard once more, but not that of bird but of whimpering pups who's cries mourned their family. The girl fallowed their pleading sounds and the smell of sulfur to where the pups rest. They were small, helpless and unable to fend for themselves and she could not let herself abandon the pups, so she took them in as her own.
She would would raise the pups with her human family, strengthening the bond between the species. And as the pups would grow up and continue on to create their own packs tolerance of humans of the forest kin became more and more so. Soon it would become not uncommon for humans to be allowed to live among the packs as well. The wolves learned from their human companions over the years, becoming more adept to their language as did the humans of their canine friend's. Over time the forest kin became watchers to the wolves and helped to preserve their forest and it's way of life.❧

❧Pups❧
Pups are young and new to the world, constantly changing the path of how life will continue. Playing, exploring and and socializing with their pack mates is their only real task at this point.

❧Adolescents❧
Consider these your teen years of being a wolf. You're young, strong and still learning. However, you're also old enough to start going on hunts and to breed. The events in which happen during this time in your life may play an important part in which role you end up playing in the pack.

❧Omega❧
Omegas are the lowest on the pack's hierarchy, just ranking above the pups which they tend to while the rest of the pack is out on a hunt. They are most responsible for rearing the young and teaching them pack etiquette. Oftentimes they are not allowed to partake in hunts with the pack, especially if there's a litter.
( Any number Per Pack but must be less then the Gamma-Population )
❧Gamma❧
Gamma are the lower to intermediate pack members and make up the majority of the pack. The often partake in hunts, especially when it comes to big game and also socialize the pups. They tend not to lead hunts, but still hold very minor pack superiority.

❧Sicht❧
Are wolves who are very sensitive, a Sicht must be a Seer. Seers hold the ability to communicate with the Forest Kin and Norse (Humans in the Hinterlands) by an almost empathic/telepathic link. They are by far the only 'magics' in the world of Hinterlands. Some hold powers such as: Seeing brief snippets of the future and/or past of those around them, seeing and speaking to the dead, hearing empathic-chains for other wolves and possibly feeling or hearing a very strong thought in a nearby animal.
The Sicht are the third highest rank in the pack, for their ability to communicate to the humans. Even if their packs aren't keen on the human-wolf relationship going on in the Hinterlands, a Sicht must keep a neutral mind.

❧Beta❧
Beta are second in command only to the Alpha couple. The are allowed to lead hunts, and get some of the best pickings. It is not uncommon for a Beta take charge if something happens to one of the Alphas.

❧Alpha❧
The Alphas are the leaders of the pack and are most responsible for the success of the pack as a whole. They are typically the two strongest male and female within the pack and generally do the majority of the breeding to ensure a stronger, healthier pack. They will lead the majority of the hunts and expected to protect the pack when threatened. At times, however. There will be siblings and/or friends who take up the Alpha ranks. These wolves can not and/or will not mate one another to do the major breeding. However their selected mates, whether or not they be a Gamma or Beta, must understand an ensure a breeding-agreement. If a Gamma is the Alphas mate then they naturally do get a slightly higher 'rank' then the other Gammas.

❧Lone Wolves❧
These pack-less individuals are entirely responsible for their own health and well being. They hunt for themselves and take care of only themselves. The only time the may try to seek company of others over long periods of time is when trying to seek mates.

❧3rd Stage Growth❧
After 4 weeks of being in the Adolescent stage you may request to have your pet grown into it's 3rd stage HERE. However, you cannot have your pet simply grow into whatever rank you desire. Different ranks require a certain amount of RP.
❧Rank RP Requirements❧
++25 posts between 2 people is consider to be 1 completed RP. So 10 posts per person. (20 posts in total will make an entire rp)
++Please keep in mind that one-liners will not be counted towards your RPs. A post must be 3-5 sentences minimum to be counted. Dialog counts too and more is always welcome.
++Self-Role Plays are enabled in Forest Hymn to help with growths. They must be at least 500 words or more to count towards the rank-gaining.
++You may choose to downgrade to a lower rank even if you're overqualified as far as the amount of RP is concerned.
++When applying for 3rd stage growth you must have the RP logs on hand otherwise you will be automatically given the default stage. So it is highly recommended if you plan on getting a particular rank other then a Gamma to keep track of your RPs in your Journal so you do not have to go digging for them later.
++You do not have to apply for a rank right after 4 weeks has passed in adolescence. You may keep it that stage longer if so desired. (Say if you wanted to accumulate more RP for a rank but you didn't have the time, you may apply for it at a later date.)
++You may apply for different ranks after the 3rd stage, but it will require a larger amount of RP for change. You also may not use RP used for prior growth. ( If any. ) Also there may be restrictions regarding uniques and wolves with lineart edits.
( Please keep in mind that the amount of RPs required may be subject to change.)
❦Gamma: This is the default stage. No RP is required to obtain this stage(Even if you're an Alpha or Lone going into this stage. However, there should be an explanation as to why they are deranking or going into rank, that's for sure!) +5k
❦Omega: 2 completed RPs required. +3k
❦Lone Wolf: 2-3 completed RPs required. +5k
❦Sicht: 5 Completed RPs required + 50k, Wolf must be a Seer to be a Sicht.
❦Beta: 3-4 completed RPs required. +30k

❦Seers
Any wolf rank can be a seer, they do not need to be a sicht,
To see if your wolf is a seer, you must go here and request a rolling. If your wolf isn't a 1rst gen and has parents, and one of them is a seer their chances at the roll will be lightened. If both parents are seers, you have a seer. There is no roll. Any 2 seers who are unrelated and have kin, those kin will also be seers. But you will still have to go to the roll thread and tell me in a form if they are.
OH! Also, Familiars can be Seers too!
Why is it so high? Hinterlands is a very spiritual place. The tree of Spirituality has grown and prospered over the peace that has come to the land, it is because of the tree and it's force field that causes this. However these wolves will not be throwing fire and breathing underwater. Consider Seers to be more in touch with their soul.

❧Cerka Deer❧
Cerka Deer and an indigenous species to the Hinterlands, closely related to whitetail deer. They have slightly thicker pelts and inward antlers which both sexes possess year round. Cerka Deer are often used as means of travel by the Forest Kin, much like their equine counterparts. However, with long slender legs and smaller bodies, Cerka Deer are more adept for treading the forest terrain. *Only female Cerka Deer may be antler-less if they have that genetic.
❧Foxes❧
Foxes are among many of the woodland creatures that have taken an unusual liking to both the Forest Kin and their wolf companions for reasons yet unknown. Probably for food and other such comforts. These small canines are most notable for their thick, luxurious tails and pelts that keep them warm during the coldest of winters.
❧Lynx❧
Though cats of power, the lynx is strong in bond with the wolves of the Hinterlands. Possibly because they are from the north where food is more-so to their tasting. Here in the Hinterlands it is hard for a lynx to hunt on their own with the threat of another cat predator around; the cougar.
❧Cottontails❧
These rabbits aren't anything ordinary. Most wolves tend to dislike their taste, as the Hinterland Cottontail has a gland in their skin that enables a stench after being killed.
Cottontails, or just rabbits really, will stick to their wolven or fox-brethren without fear. And make good companions. Especially when danger is around, as they will thump on the ground in case of an emergency. They are larger then most rabbits in the fields, but can still nestle comfortably on the backs of their wolves. They are a friend for life.

❧Have Fun ❧
1) Have fun! Seriously I cannot even begin to stress this enough. The pets are meant to be enjoyed as well as the shop.
❧No God-Moding ❧
2) No God Moding. You can only control your own pet's actions. Not the pets of other people. Anyone caught doing this will receive a warning. After three warning you may be asked to leave the RP under temporary suspension. Also, god moding includes invincibility. Like the real world you are not indestructible. However, I would advise against any role playing that may end in the death of a pet to avoid conflict. People tend not to like it and it's hard to RP something that's dead.
❧No Magical Powers ❧
3) NO MAGIC POWERS. The wolves in this shop are low of magical origin and it would be appreciated if it was left that way. That means no fire, water, air, electric, shadow, poison.etc related abilities. Although being able to talk to both animals and spirits is fine. If you believe you have a reasonable request for an ability for your pet to have please run it by one of the staff members beforehand. For those who want to have the ability to speak to Forest Kin, both wolf and Kin communicate by symbols.
❧Pets from other shops? ❧
4) Other pets in role play is fine as long as the animal is not magical. For example. (Foxes are fine but foxes with multiple tails are not.)
❧Keep it Clean ❧
5) Keep it clean. No use of excessive profanities. Also keep all content PG13. I'm not terribly concerned about this happening but you never know how people are.
❧You do NOT have to RP ❧
6) Although it is not required to have the pet, RPing with affect it's growth. If you do not RP your pet it will become a Gamma by default. For more specific rank pets you may have to RP or participate in events.
❧Be Literate ❧
Try to be as literate as possible. Spelling mistakes are understandable, after all none of us are perfect. However leave chatspeak out of the RPs.
❧Include Others ❧
Although sometimes it may be hard, if you see someone wander in try to include them in. No one likes being ignored and it helps to create a more welcoming environment.
❧One liners ❧
Although it is not against the rules to use them we would prefer if you refrained from using them. People tend not to like it and it doesn't give a whole lot to work off of. Also one liners won't be counted as RP towards growing into ranks and may lead to you becoming a default Gamma.

Speed sales are on a first come first basis. The form must be fill out properly and include the phrase. " We walk with you ask kin." somewhere in the post.
Faffles work the same way as a speed sale aside from there will be a certain amount of time which as many people want to can place an entry. When the time is up a person will randomly be selected as the winner of that pet. Only the winner will have to pay.
RP Prompt sales will be given a time limit in which they must reply to a post in a set amount of time. ( Usually 1-2 weeks) The posts will be judged and the owner will be decided based on the post.

A cheaper way to get a custom, often you select up to 3 colors you want and 3 you don't want and a marking you'd like to see. It is however totally random and the colorists choice for what they do so you may only see one color you wanted. Prices also change on complexity and if it's growing or non-growing.

❧Regular Breeding ❧
Regular breeding passes down randomly traits from each parent to their pups. Each pup, while retaining some traits from their parents will not look identical to one another unless one or more of the parents of the pups have twins or blood related members have twins. However, this is not 100% guaranteed if there are twins. Gender for regular breeding is random.
❧Edited Breedings ❧
Edits in this case means 'biological' edits, NOT 'item' edits. Item edits are Colorist Choice in breedings, however, if you wish to give your puppy edits after the breeding is done, you may submit your pup in a colorist's Item Shop or pay for the edits ahead of time if you know what you want already.
Random-Edited Breedings: Are random. You tell us which edits you want or don't want, pay for it accordingly, and then pray to the dice gods. Each baby has a 50/50 chance to inherit an edit for EACH edit that was paid for. You don't get a say in which babies get which edits, they are pre-determined when the colorist shows you the preview image.
Custom-Edited Breedings: You tell us what edits you want on your puppies/familairs. You do not get to choose what they look like, and you cannot decide edits after they have been colored [see 'custom color' for that]. Edit prices for custom babies are figured separately from random-edit pricing [if this applies] in your breeding. See below for more details.
❧Custom Coloring and Gender❧
Custom breeding allows the owner(s) to select which traits will be passed down to the pups as well as gender. Prices are in addition to regular prices and any edit prices.

❧About Breeding ❧
Family members cannot breed. Yeah, no incest guys. Even if they aren't blood related. You can't do it, so don't ask.
You may gift a pup to a friend. You did pay for it, so if you want to give a pup to a friend as a gift that's fine. However you CANNOT sell, auction, take bribes for the pup. If you're caught doing so you will be black listed. End of story.
A wolf must be an adolescent or older to breed. Think this is just common knowledge. Pups are structurally unsound and unable to conceive and must wait till their bodies have matured before they can breed.
Adolescents can only have up to three cubs per litter, any more and it would probably hurt them.
A female cannot breed again till after her pups have reached adolescents. Like any good mom you should be tending to your pups till they mature. And if you're pregnant you cannot get pregnant during a current pregnancy.
You must wait 2 weeks after receiving a wolf/familiar, or until it has been an adolescent/adult for 2 weeks, to breed, no less and no more then that. It will help with possible plotting for the pet. Also, it will help the shop become more of a role play-based shop. (Hopefully).
Same-Sex Lifemating is not allowed. But however an affection-based bond called a Love Pact can be made between two of the same sex. You are only allowed ONE same-sex affectionate character, any more and you will be warned.
Love Pacts can only surrogate and can not contain Alphas or Betas. If a love pact wants a lifemated wolf to surrogated; it is strictly forbidden. Males can not produce eggs and can not become pregnant. Females can not produce sperm and can not make another wolf pregnant.
To be Pansexual and Bisexual. Is not allowed in Forest Hymn.
(Pansexuality usually means to be blind of gender, wolves will know if they are male or female. Or it can mean that a fox or wolf can get together which is not allowed here.)
Life Mating is forever, unless something really bad happens. This can not be something like "omg like. I am not their friend" one week and then the next everything's cool. However if this is agreed by both members, both wolves can not life mate again for a month, and can not breed again for 2 months.
Male lone wolves can breed as many times as they want with any rank. Because they're jerks and aren't sticking around to create a pack or be in a pack. Lone wolf males are not the best fatherly type. Female lone wolves can breed with any rank also, but still can only conceive again till after their pups re adolescents before she takes off again.
If a mated couple of Alphas are within the pack The Alpha couple are, essentially, mates for life and can only breed with one another if they are mated. If there is only one Alpha, and the second Alpha position for that pack is not filled, the wolf they life mate with will become Alpha. However, in some cases there will be Alphas who are not life-mated [they are siblings, or just friends, etc]. Whoever life-mates with them for life will hold a higher position in their pack [though their rank will remain the same]. Flings are enabled until an Alpha officially life-mates. Breeding Alphas with none alphas will cost +20k to the normal breeding fee.
If two different owners are choosing to breed you will have to decide how to split the pups. This is pretty self explanatory.

*Note 1: All base edit prices are per edit, and the first puppy for random edited puppies does not have an 'additional' cost [so the "+2k per additional puppy" for a simple edit would not be added].
*Note 2: In the event that someone wishes to order some random edits for their pup AND custom edits, add up custom edit costs first, and then add up any remaining random edit costs for that particular puppy [ "additional" costs for an edit that has already been customed should not be counted again].
*Note 3: Please keep in mind that for edited breedings, parents may choose to omit edits from the breeding, and thus will not be charged for them.
*Note 4: Colorists will always give you a price quote if you aren't sure what the price will be, and can break down the pricing for you if you ask them to do so.
Price Example: 3 puppies with one simple edit. Two are random edited, one is custom edited.
40k [base cost] + 10k [simple edit cost] + 2k [additional random edit puppy] + 20k [custom edit cost for custom puppy edit] = 72k.

3. Please no drama in the shop. Take it to PMs if you really must. We're trying to keep this an upbeat place.
4. Please respect everyone in the shop threads even if they're not being respectful to you. They maybe acting like a d**k but instead of making yourself out to be one too, report it to a staff member and we will take care of it.
5. NO BEGGING. For pets, gold, familiars, favours or items.
6. Do not PM the Staff without their expressed written permission.
7. Do not post links from other shops/ threads in the shop. If you want to become affiliated PM me (Vistada or TimberSong) with the link and entitle the PM "Affiliates."

13. 1. If you are naming a pet Bob and see there is already a "Bob", please contact the oldest "Bob"-named pet's owner and request to use the same name. If they say no, change the name or hyphen it. If there are more then 5 "Bob"-named pets please use a surname or a hyphened name.

1. During a speed sale do not post your entry until we post our "Go Phrase". Anything posted beforehand will be ignored.

4. If you currently own a pet you may participate in flat sales unless it is specified otherwise.

A: I wouldn't advise it. If the link becomes broken you're SOL. So be sure to save your pet to your own host. Better safe then sorry.
Q: Do you accept IRL cash for pets?
A: Yes. We own the line art so there is no problems with this.
Q: Do you do cosplays?
A: No, we won't ever do cosplays. Unless it's of your ORIGINAL CHARACTER smile !
Q: Want to be affiliates?
A: Sure, as long as it says were accepting affiliates. Please send me a PM titles "Affiliates" and send me your link.
Q: Can we reserve pets from Flat Sales?
A: No. Everyone gets the same fair chance.
Q: Can I be a guest colorist?
A: No. If you want to be a colorist ( Even part time colorist ) you have to fill out an application like everyone else assuming it says we're hiring.
Q: Is TheForestHymn still the owner?
A: -FLAIL- XD. No it's Vistada :>. Hymn gave us the amazing lineart and due to IRL issues and a busy life he's had to go on a hiatus.
