She's been meowing really loud and strangely, like a cross between saying "mommaaaa" and...a howl?

Specially during the night. And she contorts all over the place too.

Several years ago one of my cats went into heat right before she was scheduled to be spayed, and all she did was scream. And then we had about fifteen stray male cats hanging out in the yard (she was an inside cat so they couldn't get at her). ^^;
