● 02/12/12 There is a wing dragon contest for High Reaches Weyr going on here. It's very exciting. Tell your friends.
● 01/23/12 The shop is reopening under new management! It's going to take us a while to revamp the front page, guild, and art, so please be patient with us. :3 If you have a CONTENT or ANGRY lined dragon (or a wher), you can have them converted here. Flits are also ready, but we're not doing conversions for them just yet.

- Once upon a time...
Pern was nearing its 10th Pass with no end to the Threadfall in sight. AIVAS failed to function; the location was destroyed and with it any assistance from the technology lost forever in time. With threat of the Red Star looming ominously over the residents of Pern as it had their ancestors, the dragonriders were filled with a sense of both excitement and dread. None felt the less desirable half than High Reaches and Telgar Weyr.
Shortly after the 9th Pass, a plague had struck Telgar Hold. A devastating sickness never before seen by the living, many of whom were doomed to be counted among the dead. The plague manifested in four other locations to the North: Crom Hold, High Reaches Hold, High Reaches Weyr and Telgar Weyr. The disease, which became known as the "Telgar Plague", spared no one. Although something within the dragons granted them an immunity to the Telgar Plague, they were forced to go between when their rider succumbed to its unwavering grasp. And, many riders did.
So many, in fact, that both Telgar and High Reaches lost pairs within the hundreds. The Holds suffered losses equal in number, perhaps even greater, and eventually this decline in population led to the abandonment of High Reaches Hold and Telgar Hold. Their former residents flocked to Crom Hold with promise of food and, to the shock and disbelief of many, a cure. Within fifty turns, Crom Hold had become known as "High Telgar Hold". A journeyman healer named Yalin had indeed discovered the cure in a mixture of many herbs, some of which became extinct as a result of over-harvesting to aid the needy. In time, the plague joined AIVAS as a distant memory. In its wake it left damages yet to be repaired, reminders of what had been.
It has been over fifty turns since the plague was conquered, and it has been nearly two hundred since the last Pass. Both High Reaches and Telgar Weyr are forced to bare witness to the vengeful hand of the Telgar Plague. Still, there are not enough dragons. The High Reaches senior queen, Dorath, has yet to clutch another gold egg. The Telgar Weyr has recently lost its senior queen, and is in a tug-of-war between two junior goldriders. When either queen will rise, only time will tell, but no one has the patience to spare. Both Weyrs have sent requests for help, but they have mostly gone unanswered, for many Pernese fear the plague may return; they do not wish to be near its source when this happens.
Desperation and a nearing Red Star has driven the Weyrs to cultivate new, sometimes pointless methods of preparing to fight Thread. Firelizards, which eat Thread, have been bred so frequently the population outnumbers weyrfolk three to one. Weyrlings are being trained beyond their age and thrown into wings earlier than ever before. All the while, High Reaches and Telgar continue asking for help; they ask for golds, healers, supplies and the slight but comforting peace of mind that comes with knowing they are not alone.
They are not alone, and they never were. The numbers are few, but if they join together, things will begin to look up. Hopefully, they will look high enough, and by looking so high they will see a vast number of dragons successfully protecting them and their homes.

Egg
- The group of eggs a gold dragon lays are known as a 'clutch'. Clutches remain on the sands (or whatever terrain is applicable for that specific Weyr) and are owned by no one, OOC or IC - unless you count the Weyr's general ownership. The owners of the dragons inside is determined OOC before they hatch, but IC after they hatch in an act that is known as 'Impressing'.
The length of this stage varies. Additionally, egg shell colors do not always match the color or appearance of the dragon inside, though the aura and position of an egg gives hints about them. For more information, see the Impression guide.

Dragonet or Hatchling
Dragonet or Hatchling
- Technically, the second stage of a dragon's life (the first being the egg), but this is the first to be certed as the eggs remain unclaimed on the sands prior to hatching. The lineart of a dragonet depends only on that dragonet's personality. There may be a blue and green on the same lines if they are both playful dragons, for example. IC, the stage lasts six months; OOC, expectancy of this stage is two-to-four months.
1 - Happy, Pleased lines; dragons that are mischievous, playful, joyous, confident, or proud.
2 - Unhappy, Displeased lines; dragons that are grouchy, mean, unstable, morose, or unhappy.
3 - Content, Neutral lines; dragons that are naturally calm, level-headed, lazy, or shy.

Junior Weyrling or Senior Weyrling
Junior Weyrling or Senior Weyrling
- The adolescent stage of a dragon's life is also mood dependent, with expressions and other features possibly altered to better suit the dragon's personality; an angry dragon will be edited to have a scowl, for example. This stage lasts six months IC and three-to-five months OOC.
1 - Happy, Pleased
2 - Unhappy, Displeased
3 - Content, Neutral

Adulthood
- The final stage. Dragons are now adults and will not grow any longer. They remain at this stage both IC and OOC forever (or until you smite them). There are three lines per color, based on their personalities. The lines a dragon was colored on as dragonet (if applicable) will effect which stage they grow into as an adult. IC circumstances may void this rule; see F.A.Q for more information.
1 - Happy, Pleased
2 - Unhappy, Displeased
3 - Content, Neutral

Pricing
Flatsales/Hatchings
hatchling - 30k
adult - 10k
The "flat" price for dragons is best generalized as 10k per stage, to be paid up front. So a dragon won at a hatching will run 30k, or an adult won in a flatsale will be 10k. In the unlikely event that weyrlings are up for grabs, they would cost 20k.
Customs
hatchling - tbd
weyrling - tbd
adult - tbd
These are open when they're open, and when they're not, they're not. Don't ask if it says they're not. Unless specifically stated, there are no metallic customs.

Egg
- It's an egg! Unlike with dragon eggs, wher eggs can be given to owners both OOC and IC. Whether you dug it up, won it in some sort of game or it was gifted to you, the wher inside is yours to keep. Just make sure you feed it before anyone else does. How long before it hatches depends on too many factors to give an exact estimate.

Wher
- Whers have only two stages (aside from the egg), without personality variation in the lines. They come in the same standard colors as dragons (green, blue, brown, bronze and gold) with the same genders (golds are always females, so on). However, a gold wher may impress to male rider and a bronze wher may impress to a female rider.
IC, whers have many opportunities available to them. They can be pets, used as labor or even be in a wher wing (similar to that of a dragon wing). For more information on whers, see the appropriate guide.

Egg
- It's an egg! Unlike with dragon eggs, firelizard eggs can be given to owners both OOC and IC. Whether you dug it up, won it in some sort of game or it was gifted to you, the wher inside is yours to keep. Just make sure you feed it before anyone else does. How long before it hatches depends on too many factors to give an exact estimate.

Firelizard
- Firelizards have only one stage (aside from the egg), so how they hatch is how they'll stay, although they are born small and grow IC. They come in the same colors as dragons (green, blue, brown, bronze and gold) with the same genders (golds are always females, so on). However, a gold firelizard may impress to male handler and a bronze firelizard may impress to a female handler.
IC, firelizards are mostly kept as pets. Some consider them pests. For more information on firelizards, see the appropriate guide.

Hatchings are a unique sort of roleplay celebrated by Pern RPs all around the internet. They are also known as 'Impressions'. Because this event is so detailed, it now has it's own guide which you can find here.

A Hatching Raffle is basically what it sounds like. All candidates entered into the hatching will also be placed into the hatching raffle unless, for some reason, the player of that character designates they do not wish to be entered. For more information, see the hatching / Impression guide above.

RP contests will be a common occurrence within the shop. These will usually come before or shortly after a hatching, but like the hatching themselves, may be independent events. Contests will include: premade adult wing dragons, special dragons for a metaplot or other important positions; custom dragonets for the next clutch, free range customs and carry over customs (dragons that are IC transfers from other Weyrs).

The procedures for watchwhers will be more lenient than dragons, but less so than firelizards. Watchwher flatsales will be announced briefly in advance and, unlike dragon hatchings, usually (but not always) take place mostly if not entirely OOC. To RP a watchwher, you must either have a character already approved in the guild that is in a position to own one or be willing to make an proper handler and have them approved. Whers may serve as simply sig candy and never be integrated into the RP if the owner so chooses.

Wher contests are run similar to the dragon contests, except all whers will be from places that are RPable within the shop (such as High Telgar Hold). The style of contest will vary.

Sometimes, for the heck of it, a colorist will give away a wher without any prior planning. These may be given out in raffle form, some type of post order contest or other such things. Whers may also be gifted to owners who have a good handler character without an actual wher.

The procedures for firelizard flatsales will be very loose. They will be announced briefly in advance and, unlike dragon hatchings, take place mostly if not entirely OOC. To RP a firelizard, you must either have a character already approved in the guild that is in a position to own one or be willing to make one and have them approved. Firelizards may serve as simply sig candy and never be integrated into the RP if the owner so chooses.

Firelizard contests will be rare, since getting a hold of one is so easy they aren't needed. When they do happen, the firelizard in question will probably somehow be 'special'. These will be run similar to the dragon contests, except all firelizards will be from places that are RPable within the shop (such as High Telgar Hold). The style of contest will vary.

Opportunities to obtain a firelizard will outnumber the whers and dragons. They may be given away by staff as a thank you to regulars, given as birthday gifts, given away as part of a raffle or a thread game of some sort or whatever else the colorist decides to do. The NPCs may even give them away IC.

- Because the breeding of a gold dragon is the foundation of the shop itself, breedings among dragons are handled much differently than a standard B/C procedure. Green dragons will not clutch (meaning, lay eggs; breed) when they rise (mate); however, golds will always clutch when they rise.
There are very few goldriders, especially versus the number of greenriders. Golds have IC perks available to them that other characters / players who own other colors do not. But we do not promote OOC favoritism based on the color someone owns, therefore goldriders are not allowed to choose the theme, personalities or owners of their dragon's offspring. They may, however, choose which bronze (or brown) 'flies' (mates with) their dragon IC.
Golds are not permitted to rise IC without first obtaining a breeding slot and meeting IC requirements. More information about this can be found in the Goldrider Agreement here.
Slot:: Closed.

- Like dragons, greens may rise at any time, but will not clutch. A gold rising will result in a clutch. These clutches are less strict than dragons (though you must still obtain a breeding slot) and may be given away by the owner(s) of the whers.
Whers have 1-4 offspring. The number is determined by rolling a dice via Gaia's post system. There are RP and non-RP breeding slots. Whers that have been RPed will receive +1 to their roll automatically. Three completed RPs (involving the whers) must be submitted to qualify for an RP slot. They do not all have to be done together.
Non-RP Slots:: Closed.
RP Slots:: Closed.

Firelizard breedings will be common and are special in that both gold and green firelizards may clutch. Green clutches will result mostly in other greens, blues, an occasional brown and very rarely a bronze. Gold firelizards will have larger clutches and have a chance to lay gold eggs. The clutch may be given away by the owner(s) of the firelizards.
Green firelizards have 1-4 eggs; golds have 1-6. The number is determined by rolling a dice via Gaia's post system. There are RP and non-RP breeding slots. Rules:
1. As usual, obey the Gaia ToS.
2. Reading the books is not a requirement for shop participation, but please look up any info you need instead of just assuming. This goes for veterans too, as things may differ from this shop vs. canon.
3. Begging and whining for pets is not permitted and will get you a warning.
4. Continuous angst will also get you a warning. It's okay if you had a bad day and want to talk, but don't come in the thread every day hoping to use it as a personal therapist. It makes other thread goers feel awkward or agitated.
5. Do not be afraid to speak freely to staff if you think something we're doing sucks, but be mature and constructive about it. However, if you have an issue with another player, please don't bring that into the thread.
6. IC is to remain IC. Period. People caught harassing others OOC over RP issues will be given a warning, then greylisted if the behavior continues.
7. Please read and reference all the given information when need be before asking a question (or answering one in some cases).
8. Do not PM staff in regards to shop questions. There is a question forum in the guild, or if you must, PM the mule.
9. We reserve the right to edit, add and delete rules as need be. Announcements will be made regarding any changes.
Roleplay Rules
1. No godmoding, powerplaying, bunnying or any saying that pretty much means the same thing.
2. Mating flights must remain PG-13.
3. All characters must be approved before being roleplayed.
4. Characters may not be dragonriders, wherhandlers, or firelizard owners unless you were given one to RP with. Don't worry, plenty will be available!
5. Gold dragons are RP required. If you do not wish to have this responsibility, make "no golds" on your candidate submission form. Other colors are not RP required unless they are of a high rank (Weyrleader).
8. As previously stated, IC is to remain IC; OOC is to remain OOC. If you get in a fight with someone OOC, this is not to effect IC actions and ruin the game for everyone else. If need be, you may contact staff on the matter or find away to avoid each other that doesn't intervene with other players.
8. Remember and follow basic Pern rules: All dragon names end in 'th', adult dragons can not kill humans, abused runaway backstories are highly unlikely and so on.
