I'm thinking I'm going to go with Tsume having been bonded when he was really young, and the bond died. More detail than that is up in the air. xD;

Solange and Friello come from a tribe of furs. A group of sensitive kids was trained to become shamans, and out of those (they hoped), Solange when she came out of the orb would bond with. She chose Friello, and now they're out wandering and going on quests to earn their station within the tribe. :3
