Welcome to Gaia! ::

Her curiosity, he could feel it radiate off of her. Raajmuat couldn't help but grin inwardly to have her full attention. The basilisk was sure she had plenty of questions she was itching to ask. He would too, if he was in her position. But, while he wouldn't give her all the answers she desired right now, he wouldn't mind delving into some sooner than others. Not all things are as satisfying knowing at once. Plus, it helps to keep the interest in the area just a little bit longer. With his milky eyes focused on her, he replied, 'You've been here for quite some time. I've been secretly testing you, trying to see if you are worthy to being here. But I dare say, you're surely passed any test I could think of to put against you. Therefore, I should think that by living here, it would help you to become an active role in the clan.' He had tried and tried again to reason with himself while he should have gotten rid of the female so long ago, but she had followed his rules, listened to his rages and rants, there was nothing in his mind that justified him making her leave. Therefore, if she was to stay here, she needed to have a place in the clan. A job for her to do to help the clan grow and prosper.

Talakin has a job here, two roles that the cornsnake plays here. But Tethra, she has none. The basilisk has been mulling for some time before he had found something that could be suitable for the female. He didn't want to place her in a job that would insult her, since she was not in the least bit weak. With a bitter smile, 'As the clan knows, I am unable to see. As much as I pray for this to be resolved, I know I can't change back time to reverse what has already been done. Therefore, I need assistance.' He paused before continuing, 'I need eyes, someone I can look through to see what's going on. Someone who can scout the land, keep an eye on the members, and give me advice when I need it. Someone who I can count on,' As much as he would not like to admit it, taking care of a clan was not something he was so natural in doing, therefore any help he could muster would be put to use. 'In the old clan, everyone had a job...a purpose that they lived for within the clan. That's what helped kept the clan going.'
The winged hyena followed on cautiously, unsure of where the male was taking this conversation. It came as no surprised to her when Raaj admitted to constantly testing to her nature against the qualities of a valued member of his clan, he just seemed like the type to take precautions with every step, understandably. She was taken aback however, by the slight hint of acceptance in the male's tone. Had she really proven her best to him without even knowing it? It surprised her that she'd managed to keep her head attached to her shoulders let alone impress the alpha of the clan. Words couldn't describe the feeling as she continued to listen.

Was he really trusting her? This self-sufficient beast strengthened by hardships? He needed her assistance, he said. Her abilities. He needed her. Well... perhaps she was taking this all a little too seriously but to be told she was somehow NEEDED... well... she was onboard.

Tethra fought back hard all the urges to spout of the first words that came to mind. Somehow "thank you" didn't seem to suffice in a situation as this one. Without pausing too long in case she gave him the wrong impression, the female answered promptly. "I'd be honored to fulfill a purpose in this clan.... truly." Her words were quiet and uncharacteristically softened by emotion as some feeling churned within. Never would she have this responsibility in her old clan. Never would she be considered greatness, an asset to the group. The idea of being counted upon for tasks only she could perform made her lightheaded.
Ears flicked slightly as Raajmuat listened to her words, hearing the sincerity in them. It helped to calm his fears, that perhaps he was making the right step with Tethra. There was a nice feeling about all of this, something similar to what his mother had described it to him as. Though, at that time he couldn't fully understand the meaning since he was not really wanted by his father, nor by the clan for fear of bringing misfortune on them. His tail flicked slightly as he turned his head back towards the outlook where they were residing. 'I am glad to hear that, Raven. As much as I'd like to have Young Snake do everything for me, it would be unkind of me to ask so much of him. Therefore, it would only be appropriate to start handing out some responsibilities to those who have proven themselves.'

The cool breeze rustled once more, sending a chill down his spine. The air did seem to be cooling down just a bit, the day wasn't too far from coming to a close. The nights were cold, not very much to his liking but that's just the way that nature worked. He rested his head back on his paws once more, closing his eyes against the crisp breeze. The view was the same for him either way. Unsure of what else to say to Tethra, he had lapsed into a small silence, letting the female take everything in. Slowly, he opened his eyes to turn them back towards Tethra. He wondered what she looked like. What Talakin looks like or any of his other clan members who he knew by many different means other than what they looked like.

Aurelia: *eyeroll*))
Tethra nodded slowly, understanding Raaj's reasoning for choosing another to place responsibility on. With all the talk of Talakin, she wondered how the orange snake came to be so close to the basilisk. She recalled that he too had originated from Feral Clan but had dismissed himself sono after to join Ahnleh. Amon had granted him an honorable parting... perhaps he might grant that on his daughter when the time came. Somehow she couldn't see the bitter old man understanding her reasoning and subsequently giving her the reassurance and consolement of an honorable leaving, no matter how much she daydreamed of the possibility.

The hyena found herself falling silent once again as Raaj seemed to comfortably rest amongst the cold stone of the rocky mountain. He looked so at ease in such a posture, almost losing his tough exterior for just a moment or two. It was not enough to convince her it was alright to draw near, however. She'd keep her respectful distance.

"I'll leave you to the wind, then." She mumbled with a smile. "I've had enough of this chilly ledge for now. The wind's making me restlessness enough as it is." The female rose the step around the male and return to the shelter of the inner caverns, a small glance over her shoulder at his laying form once again as she passed.
