Plague paced the hallway in front of his chambers, looking worried and agitated. His feet were bare, and he barely noticed what looked to be painful welts on his soles that grew larger by the day... In fact, none of his ailments particularly bothered him. It was a way of life by then.

What am I going to say? he muttered internally, trying his best not to become downtrodden. I failed. The gem... it just... disappeared! I trusted Aeneas with it, but now, it's gone.

The pacing grew faster, and he became more distracted, looking down at the floor and attempting to form a plan in his mind. He hesitated going downstairs, as Destruction could be there, lurking. He considered himself a disappointment, and wanted to avoid confrontation if necessary, though he knew one day he'd have to face his Lord.

Tien retreated from the Worldshield's quarters after tasking her lone aoide to aid the Toki in removing the broken furniture from the sitting room. She moved almost silently down the hallway, green eyes on the lookout for any signs of life. The Pantheon seemed a little bleaker since she had last seen it through the eyes of her host. Truly, it was no matter to her what form the Twin Crown took as she had spent most of her time away from Him and the other gods before the fading, with few exceptions and it would likely be the same again.

The sound of footsteps brought her out of her thoughts almost a moment too late, Trickery stopped just short of bumping into Plague. "Oh...I'm sorry." She took a step back. "I didn't realize...anyone else would be out?"

Too lost in thought to notice that she'd about bumped into him, Sh'khin heard a voice and looked up into a pair of bright green eyes that seemed to shine with mischief. The woman's hair was fiery red and she didn't look at all familiar.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" he said, stepping backward to avoid walking straight into the woman. "I didn't notice you there." He pushed a lock of black and green hair behind one ear and gave her a more up and down look. "I don't believe we've been introduced before. I am Sh'khin -- Plague." He gave her a bow, thinking surely she was one of his kindred. But a goddess of what?

"Tien--Trickery." She offered him a cheeky grin and a little curtsy worthy of a stage performer. Sh'khin...Plague. Tien filed the name and domain away in memory for later. An interesting first deity to meet, aside from Worldshield.

She looked him up and down, he wasn't bad on the eyes provided you could ignore the obvious marks of his domain. "Nice to meet you, Sh'kin."

"A pleasure, Lady Trickery," he said, giving her his best smile, which was reserved solely for his brothers and sisters. What a fun domain to have! "I am surprised I have not seen you in these halls. Are you newly reborn? Do you live here in the Pantheon?"

He leaned up against the wall next to his doorway looking relaxed once again, although in the back of his mind he was still contemplating what words he would use when he happened to meet with Him once again.

"Yes, and I do for the time being at least." Tien had no space to call her own as of yet, but hopefully that could be remedied soon one way or another. "It is still strange...to have flesh again after such a long time."

Her wings fluttered lightly and she fell silent for a moment or two before speaking again. "I am not disturbing you, am I?"

"Well, I'm glad to hear that you are comfortable enough here to decide to stay. I know for some it isn't the most pleasant of places. Of course, I happen to enjoy Destruction's reign, although I know he'll be balanced again one day," he rambled, always feeling a bit awkward when meeting new Edelsteine.

"But it is better to be alive, is it not?" he smiled once again, pleased to know that his family was again growing stronger. "I am still rather young as well, though my host still lives somewhere within. Does your host still speak to you?"

When she asked if she was disturbing him, he shook his head and sighed. "No, I wouldn't say you are a disturbance. I'm just trying to figure out a few things... I'm not always eloquent with my words and I fear a meeting with Him is in my future. I'm actually thinking about what to say."

"In a way it is...yes." Tien unknowingly fiddled with her pendant. "Sometimes, in a way, I think she does. Her sort of thoughts...and feelings keep popping into my mind from time to time. Though, I have not heard her voice since we merged." She frowned slightly. "A lot of her is still around though."

Her gaze focused on Sh'khin again."I know this may seem odd coming from me, but with Him, I would imagine honesty is best. He may repay a lie more harshly than the truth." She managed a little smile. "I should speak to him at some point as well, to apologize for the behavior of my host." Trickery shook her head, Morgan had made a fool of herself in front of the Twin Crown. She only hoped He would not label her as such because of it.

"Did you like her?" he asked, referring to her host. He knew many of the gods were in opposition to their hosts. "I don't believe I ever got to meet her... I have met few hosts, come to think of it." He paused.

"My own host is still alive somewhere inside. I allow her to take my body sometimes, as she made a great sacrifice for me. I feel the least I can do is give her a bit more time to experience the world." He'd given his next words some serious thought since his morphing, but was pleased with his decision in the end. "I do not plan on destroying her either. I feel she gives me some humanity, which is important in my... line of work, if you will."

Shifting against the wall, he slid downward into a squatting position, looking up at the pixie goddess. "Yes, I agree that the truth is best. He would know if I were lying, so I dare not go there... I'm just... nervous, I suppose."

"What did your host do to require an apology?" he asked, surprised.

"She...did not present herself well." Tien rolled her eyes. "It made her seem in incompetent fool. Morgan was...physically a woman but the rest of her hadn't quite caught up at the time it seemed." She bit her lip. "I did like her though; blending with her gave me a bit of perspective on things that I lacked."

Trickery nodded. "I could see how it would be important to you, mortals relate to things in a way that is quite different from us." She plunked herself across from him on the opposite side of the doorway, so he wouldn't have to look up.

"Ah, I see," he said, "My own host never had a chance to meet Him. Few mortals realize that we are in fact gods... I suppose it is somewhat hard to believe since we are all returning from the Fading. Gods probably seem archaic to some mortals I'd imagine."

He chuckled, thinking of Iris, who had taught him much about 'seizing the day' and about love. "I think it is nice to have mortal hosts honestly. Mine also taught me a few things. Perhaps I have become soft in my new skin," he laughed, feeling more at ease than he had all day. "I know I don't feel as vicious as I did upon my awakening. I blame that on my lovely host. She is compassionate and caring."

Watching her plop down on the floor, Sh'khin was pleased that Tien seemed comfortable around him. He always feared the other gods would look down on him, but so far, that had not been the case. They had proved to be quite an accepting bunch.

"Morgan seemed receptive the whole idea of the gods, even though religion from her own home was rather different." Tien laughed a little imagining Earth mortals reaction to the Twin Crown. She shifted to sit in a more comfortable cross legged position, resting her hands on her knees. "Compassion comes in handy when dealing with others at times, especially with mortals. Some are rather jumpy..."

She nodded at the comment about his host and his own demeanor."I will admit, you don't seem entirely like what I would expect of one of your domain." Plague seemed quite pleasant actually, for such a destructive domain. That on it's own was a bit of an amusing contradiction.

Sh'khin pondered Iris' reaction to him for a second and then returned his thoughts to the present. "I believe Iris believed in gods...but only one god. One who seemed to rule all, from what I gathered. She wasn't nearly as accepting of a pantheon of gods."

"I'm surprised I haven't met more jumpy mortals, to be honest," he said, drumming his fingers on his knee distractedly. "I expect them to all run in fear, but so far, I haven't received that reaction..."

Plague knew he was a contradiction, considering his domain. But he had learned much in the little time he had been reborn. Bits of his old self did come out on occasion -- it had upon his meeting with Morpheus, and in his visits with his sisters, Phaedra and Jahara. But on the whole, he was much less evil.

"Admittedly, I myself feel am a contradiction of sorts, but I know there's something deep inside me that rejects my current state of pleasant emotion. I feel it boiling up inside me sometimes, and I find it hard to resist being downright angry and spiteful in those moments. Though I am a destroyer in domain, I like to think that plagues also help to create room for stronger species. In some ways, I feel that there is a creation aspect to my afflictions."

It was hard to put his feelings into words, but if anything, he knew he wasn't bad, per se. But he had the potential to be evil, if he wanted it.

Tien nodded. "Such is the same with a lot of mortal cultures."

Trickery flattened her wings so she could against the wall comfortably. "There seems to be a bit of creation and destruction in all of us...some just seem to favor more one way or the other." She understood a little about how Sh'khin felt, though she wasn't quite sure how she measured on those scales just yet.

Thinking about the others he'd met, he realized that Tien was right. There was a little of both aspects of the Twin Crown in each of them.

"I suppose you are right... I feel more at home under the watchful eye of Destruction, but I will be glad to see Him as the creator again."

Trying to get Harmodius off his mind once again, Plague chuckled and turned his eyes back to Tien. "And what kind of tricks to you prefer Trickster?"
