((NO POSTING IF YOU'RE NOT IN THE RP))

Jessica stood in the middle of her garden with her hands on her hips and stared at the wild bushes and grasses as if her eyes might be able to trim and weed effotlessly. Nope, not going to happen.

She was happy to have the day to herself. With Lien and her goddess friend watching Grace and Caleb she had hours to do all these things she kept putting off. Only, now she really didn't fancy doing them. Wasn't that always the way?

She looked up at the small cottage and smiled. She could do this. She could make it look like a real home. So, she pulled on her gloves she used when working on machines and knelt down to start wrenching weeds up out of the dirt.

It was beginning to feel like all she ever did was walk, maybe she had inherited more from Triveni than a stunning body after all.

Wanderlust, how detestable.

As the gentle crush of gravel transitioned into cracking turf, the goddess drew a slow breath and knew that the subtle perfumes that had always urged Trivii on her little adventures would never come back to haunt her slightly dulled senses, and while part of her mourned the loss, the Goddess gloried in the sharper clarity that had finally come when she successfully claimed her hosts form.

The further she walked the more life came back to the land, delicate and faded green became resistant and prickly plants, and Eva blinked, could Destruction’s touch have avoided this little oasis? The breeze shifted lifting a lock of flashing silver hair away from her face to shimmer as the young goddess picked her way up to a fence that had long ago succumbed to a thriving grape-vine, she paused her mp3 player and looked down on the woman at work. Toiling and pulling weeds, beneath parched and skeletal budding trees.

“I had no idea there was a cottage out this direction.”

Jess knew her attempts might be pointless. The earth was hardly fertile but any little things that would make this place home would be worth it. Especially if it gave the children more room to play.

The voice startled her, she still did not trust much. Especially in this strange world of gods and odd creatures. She looked up, the bright colour of the woman's skin catching her eyes. A goddess? like Echo?

She smiled and wiped her ash covered hands on her coveralls.
"It's easy to miss I suppose." She said, glancing back up to the small building. "I'm hoping to change that though."

Eva shifted her gaze and eyed the place, leaning on the old gate she brought her opal eyes back to Jess. Laughter tinged Evadne's voice when she spoke again. "You can't possibly be enjoying yourself."

Reaching down over the side of the gate, Eva tripped the clasp and stepped into the yard, without asking allowing the gate to fall closed again. "My name's Evadne." She dusted her hair away and looked at the shapely brunette.

Very relaxed.

'She's not scared of you Eva. A common ignorance shared by most humans.' The demure quality of Trivii's voice was annoyingly relaxed. Content and amused. 'Some people enjoy the company of others... I was never trusting enough. But I admire those who are, there are quite a few here abouts, I suspect that is why Creation chose the area for his own.'

I understand.

Jess watched the strange woman and raised an eyebrow at her words. Was she laughing at her? A smart quip on the edge of her tongue she bit it back and looked out as the reddish grey skies.
"I am actually. Good stress relief." She smirked and nodded at the introduction. "Jessica Shaidey." She said, pulling one of her gloves off and holding a calloused hand out. "Nice to meet you. Tell me, do you live around here?"

Advancing carefully to close the distance, Eva accepted Jessica's hand shaking it firmly. "Well Jessica. I could never enjoy playing in the mud." She smiled, a quick flash of teeth as the left corner of her mouth tilted upwards.

The Goddess lowered herself to the ground, crossing her legs and casually reaching out to caress a struggling patch of Lambs-Ear. "You know you can cultivate this... Its not always a weed, sometimes it can be a feature."

"I live just beyond the hill actually." Gesturing to the direction she came from. "A small warm cottage not to different from yours, I'm surprised I haven't met you before, how long have you lived here?"

Jessica smiled and put her glove back on.
"I'm an engineer and have two small children, rolling around in the dirt is second nature to me." She grinned and tilted her head to the side as the goddess started to work on a patch in the sparse garden.
"Lamb's ear." She mused. "Good job you told me. I'm not really one for gardening usually. Um, I haven't lived here long. We had to leave our home because of an earthquake and um, my plane crashed in the forest over there. This seemed like a good place to settle. Even if it is a little strange. A land of gods it seems."

"Two children? And a career? I'm impressed, most women don't know how to balance it all." Looking over the growth she reached out and plucked at the grass growing between a few plants. "As for gardening," She smiled, "I just know what looks good, and I think I remember reading something about Lambs ear being medicinal."

Listening and observing, Evadne blinked. So this odd creature of a woman, knew about the Gods.

"I can't imagine being forced from my home... even by acts of the gods" She grabbed onto a personal aspect of the woman. Polite, pretty, and obviously had a lot of patience, "I would bet that you're a good mother. But I don't see your children, are they inside?"

"Well, I'm not exactly working now. No business and there's not really any choice but to balance it." She smiled a little and absently played with the crucifix she wore around her neck.

"Medicinal?" She asked, crouching down next to the patch of good weeds that seemed to be the only thing alive in the garden. "That could be useful. Heh, good mother, Idon't know about that." She said softly thinking of her two that were lost to her. "Um, no a friend is looking after them. They're with her and Echo, a music god. Do you know her?"

Tugging out several dead clumps of grass, sharp nails moving quickly while she idled sitting on the path. Maybe that was how Trivii felt, not any choice but to balance the scale, it would certainly explain her reticence about becoming her host. Her eyes wandered while she pondered observing the crucifix as well as the absent smile.

The Goddess nodded feigning a serenity she didn't feel, Why would someone enjoy playing in the dirt?

'Like the girl said before. Its soothing Eva, if you gave it any time or patience you can coax life from it. It has its own rewards bringing life into the world.

With a toss of her head her hair slid casually off the other shoulder, "A lot of the plants that survived Destruction are succulents and very useful. And if you have the patience for gardening, the persistence to bring life to something barren, your probably excellent with your children... I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Echo, though I'm certain I will, I love Music. Perhaps the next time you see her, you can tell her that you had the dubious pleasure of meeting a Mountain God." Smiling Eva discarded the grass she plucked, dusting off her hands and drawing her knees up to her chest, already bored with her efforts.

"A mountain god?" Jessica asked as she tugged at some more of the persistant weeds. "That is a noble domain. As is music, and my friend, she is the host for numbers." She smirked a little and tossed the weeds onto a pile. "So many influences, I was brought up to believe there was only one. Though now I feel a little ignorant for that. How can one god control everything. Even this .... Destruction. He needs you all it seems."

Eva laughed softly, a whisper of sound like wind through the leaves on a tree. "If it makes you feel better, it all began with one, and we are all but faces of him." Tugging her ear-buds out to dangle from her mp3 player the goddess smiled.

"It is a process of careful delegation, and all Gods are nothing without servants and followers. We wax and wane like the seasons, and at times there are too many of us."

Jess smiled and thought about the goddess's words for a moment.
"Yes, I can imagine that." She said, shrugging and tossing some dead plants onto the pile.
"You are not much of a people person then ... or god?" She asked with a wry smirk.

Evadne tilted her head at the young woman, almost laughing aloud. Jess was very interesting for a human, or potential servant rather.

"I will admit, I enjoy my solitude and inherited this wanderlust and curiosity from Triveni, my host. But there is a value to be given to those who can give me intelligent conversation. I will always be willing to make an exception or two."

"Aye, same here. I get the travel bug from my family. Though since my children came into the world I am content to just enjoy a place."

She stood and placed her hands on her hips as she surveyed the ashen mess.
"Sorry, youmust think me pretty rude. Can I get you anything to drink? or eat even."
