"I guess your right" Sarah agreed with Hayley before hearing the comment about speeding things up. "Ah..Yes! I guess your right!" Sarah flushed shyly and lead them into the house as quickly and as quietly as they could.

Placed in the middle of the living room was not a Christmas tree, but rather a large hedge trimmed to represent the goddess Gaia, of mother earth. "Well uhm...Melanee wouldn't keep quiet until I gave her some sort of natural Christmas..." Sarah mumbled when she pointed at the "Tree".
"We should get this done soon, Melanee tends to wake up during the night... Thank you again for this though, so much!" Sarah smiled as she bowed slightly.

(Mother Gaia is indeed the goddess of Earth. Pagan religions. ^^)

Sheiling smiled at Sarah. "It's nothing, really. I just wanted to see her have another friend while I'm not around. And she really seemed to like the little girl." The box Sheiling was carrying gave a soft meow.

Hayley laughed. "The Christian religion, or Melanee's belief in fairies? I'd say they're both a bit odd. We should probably set this up and get moving as soon as we can," she mentioned, also holding a box of supplies.

Melanee's mother (Sarah) had been standing a few meters down the road and waved at Hayley's car as it passed, not wanting the noise of a car pulling into the driveway to wake the lightly sleeping Melanee.

Once the car pulled over, Sarah smiled sweetly at Sheiling and crouched down to his eyelevel before shaking his hand. "You are a true gentlemen, what you have done for my daughter is wonderful." She admitted, even though she did not like the fact of a small animal running around crazily in her house. "When Melanee wakes up in the morning I'm sure I will be woken by her childish laughter!" Sarah chuckled quietly before raising to her feet. "I have already taken the piece of paper out of the fairy jar in her room, so she knows the fairies got her request. Such a strange religion." Sarah admitted, shaking her head slightly.

As Sheiling scrambled back into the car and shut the door, Hayley raised an eyebrow at him. "Ok, what's got you so excited?" she asked as the boy practically vibrated in his seat. "Your actor hasn't come out that strong in a while."

Sheiling's smile faltered. "Actually Mom, I'm really sorry. I didn't get you anything for Christmas, but I spent all the money. I'm sorry, I really wanted to get you something special, but I thought this was kinda...more important," Sheiling admitted, looking ashamed of himself. Hayley looked through the mirror at her son confusedly.

"Honey, whatever it is, I don't think I'll be upset. Just tell me," she coaxed.

Hayley was smiling just as widely as Sheiling had been when he finished explaining.

"Oh, honey. You've given me a wonderful Christmas gift already," Hayley laughed.

"I have?" Sheiling looked alarmed.

"Yes. You're giving Melanee something she really needed. Not to mention you're giving her hope and what will be a deeper friendship. I'm so proud of you!" she exclaimed.

Sheiling blushed and mumbled "It was nothing," as he looked out the window bashfully.

The two once again arrived at the mall, and Hayley almost fell over from the force of Sheiling dragging her full speed to the pet shop.

"This is my mom!" he exclaimed excitedly to the same woman at the counter when they arrived. "We came to pick up the kitten for my friend!"

"You have a lovely little boy," the woman chuckled as she collected the kitten into a box with air holes and gave the other bags of merchandise and gave them to Hayley. "Good luck, and I hope your friend really likes her surprise!" the woman told Sheiling.

"Thanks!" he beamed as they left the store.

~Christmas Eve~


Late Christmas Eve, sometime around midnight, Sheiling and his mother arrived at Melanee's house. Her mother had called when Melanee went to bed, and was supposed to be watching for the car so they could accomplish their mission as quietly as possible.

"Byeee!" Melanee giggled and waved back crazily before watching Sheiling leave. Afterwards she turned back to her mother, who had a questioning look upon her face. "I told Shei Shei about the fairies!" She explained as she trotted inside. Melanee's mother just shook her head and closed the door behind them both.

Sheiling smiled politely at Melanee's mother. "Please excuse me," he apologized. "I did not mean to cause trouble to the young mistress. Pardon me for a moment, please." Sheiling then turned around, stepped away for a moment, and shook himself vigorously. Stepping back into place, Sheiling's usual mischievous grin was back in place.

"Sorry about that, I don't have complete control over when my acting personality switches on," Sheiling said with a laugh. "I'm still working on harnessing it." Turning to Melanee, Sheiling stepped down a stair. "I'll see you later during vacation, Mel. I hope the fairies bring you a surprise!" he exclaimed before hurrying to the car. Before Sheiling got in, he turned around and waved crazily to Melanee. "Bye!" he shouted, his breath a visible white in the cold evening air.

Melanee tried hard to stifle a bought of laughter as she allowed Sheiling to accompany her. "Shei Shei, you are so silly! No need to be formal!" She giggled quietly and poked her tongue out at her friend. Once they arrived at the door it seemed to be instantly opened by Melanee's mother. "Hey Mum! I'm hope~" She smiled happily as she greeted her maternal figure.

"Oh what's this? Your not allowed to date until your at least fifteen..." Melanee's mother stated once she noticed Sheiling's behaviour.

"My lady," Sheiling continued with a dignified air as he offered his arm to escort her to the door, "a radiant young woman such as yourself should be well taken care of at all times. Not to mention I simply thought you might need some cheer after how downcast you looked earlier," he finished as the two kids walked up the steps to Melanee's door.

Melanee giggled cutely and blushed slightly as she took Sheiling's hand. "Shei Shei! Why are you acting like that?" Her voice was quiet and embarrassed, as if Sheiling was proposing to her. "You look so cute and serious!" She continued to giggle as she climbed out of the car with Sheiling's assistance.

"Oh really," Hayley chuckled. "I'm glad you had so much fun," she said as they neared Melanee's house. "Well here we are," Hayley said as she stopped the car in front of the house. Sheiling scrambled out his side of the car and once again raced around the car to pop open the door for Melanee. Acting all genteel, he held his hand out to her like she was a princess stepping out of a carriage.

"Madame?" he asked formally, putting on the expression of a well seasoned butler.

"Mhm Mhm!" Melanee agreed excitably, nodding rapidly. "we went to look in the pet shop and they hada really cute kitten but I think they sold it!" She started speaking quickly but near the end of the sentence slowed down and sounded quite sad. After a few seconds she shook it off and returned to her cheery demeanor. "We also had cookies and juice and went to the book store!"

"Oh, it's all right, I have some ideas," Sheiling replied happily as they climbed into the car.

"Did you guys have a good time?" Hayley asked as she glanced into the backseat before driving off onto the sanded roads surrounded by beautiful snow. She was happy to see the children safe and sound, and both looked quite content, especially Sheiling, who looked almost giddy. This confused her slightly, because he carried no bags, but she'd ask him about it later unless it came up.

"We totally did!" Sheiling chirped. "Right, Mel?"

Melanee finished her last bite of the cookie and nodded before taking Sheiling's hand. "Yep yep! Sorry you couldn't find anything for your mummy..." She spoke apologetically as she headed towards the car.

"Thank you for getting them!" Sheiling told her, smiling. They arrived at the doors with ten minutes to spare, so they were able to leisurely enjoy their snacks. Soon enough, Sheiling recognized his mother's car pulling up and hopped off the bench. After pulling on his coat and gloves, he held out his hand to Melanee. "Ready to go?" he asked.

Melanee smiled and nodded before grabbing her cookie and drink. Attempting to hold them in one arm, she used her other to grab a hold of Sheiling's hand. "I got the cookie you wanted! And I got one just like it!" Melanee gushed happily as she began to walk to the entrance of the shopping center.
