As the gifts came into view, Youko could feel his smile spreading. "Oh you guys, these are wonderful!" He wasn't sure about the cricket... he was certain there was already one living in the house, but he could never find the little bugger. The rest, however, were gorgeous, and he held up the flowered snowglobe and leaned with it to the sofa so that Nozomi could see it. "Lookit, Mushiko... isn't it pretty?"

As if in answer, Nozomi made a batting grab for the globe, her hand patting against the glass a few times as she kicked her legs happily. Her other hand, however, still had a death grip on Devi's hair.

Devi just bore out the hair tugging. With his pet Aiko always in his hair and his flutterdrake it's not like he wasn't used to it. "The fox thing is for you. Mumm said insense is supposed to be calming. There's lavender in the fairy one and eucalyptus in your's. The cricket is just a 'tradition.' It's for luck."

Drac smiled, enjoying the effect the presents were having. "That latern should do nicely to keep teh darkness at bay. Though if I'd have known you had a daughter I would have made sure to bring something for her too."

"Believe me, she's not h urting for 'things'," Youko said, chuckling softly. As he watched Nozomi playing with the globe, he set the two incense burners aside, careful to not break the sticks th at were with them. "I'm sure that one will come in VERY handy for me... and I'll try hanging the lantern near her crib tonight and see if that helps with the dark issue." He leaned over then, hugging Drac tightly. "Thank you!"

A bit surprised it took her a moment to sputter a laugh and hug the fox back. "You're welcome!"

Devi laughed at the parents. "See them, Nozomi? They're weird." He said this very solumnly, as though it was very important she remember that. He still didn't care if she held his hair, so long as the braid with the feather wasn't tugged anyway.

"Meh," was the only response from the baby, her mouth still latched onto her fist... and the hair that was caught in it. The globe had been fun, but now it was boring again, and she turned her gaze to Devmani as he spoke. The dark markings around her eyes made that gaze seem far more intense than it actually was, but she didn't seem to notice. What she DID seem to notice, however, was her hand. Staring at it, she brought it up, the hair forgotten as she looked to each individual finger... then seemed to try and shake her hand as hard as she could.

What WAS that stuff? She didn't seem to understand that the skin of her hands was actually purple. For a moment, it was almost as if she were trying to figure out just HOW that stain had gotten there. Shaking her hand again, she then tried to wipe it on her blanket... then on Devi... and the couch... It still wasn't coming off!

"What? That's the color your hand is supposed to be. Like I'm blue. See?" He lifted her so she was resting against his shoulder and could see his equine back. Maybe that'd help.

Well yes.. he was blue. Nozomi reached a bit and tried to grab for the centaur's tail as she babbled senselessly. It was all well and good that HE was blue. He was supposed to be blue and he looked good blue. But she was NOT supposed to be purple...

Was she?

Frowning softly, the infant looked at her hands again and started sniffling as if she were going to cry.

"What? What is it? Your purple hands are pretty. And you get to match my fur!" He bounced her a little and wiggled a finger over her tummy. Why would she get upset over a neat trait like that?

A faint whimper came from the girl as she held out her hands, looking from them to Devi. This just wasn't right...

But he seemed to like them. Well, there wasn't much to be done. Settling against him again, the baby let out a wide yawn, her wings stretching out as she batted at the tickling with hands and feet.

That was better. He smiled and tickled her tummy some more. She was definately a cute little thing when she smiled.

Drac gave a conspirator's wink to Youko. "I wasn't quite done with everything. Devi had me get two things that will always be just for Nozomi."

The fox had been paying attention to Nozomi, itching to go to her when he thought she was going to start crying. It wasn't until she settled again that he let his attention be caught by Drac. "Wha?" he asked, rather intelligently, as he turned to face her.

"Mumm, can I have the plushie for her?"

Drac oblidged and handing the plush to Devi who held it in front of her. "See? It's just for you!" Smiling he gently bumped the doll's nose to her's.

THAT got her attention. Nozomi's eyes went wide and she grabbed hold of the plushie, chewing on the tip of the tail as she squealed happily.

Grinning, Youko watched and thanked them both. "I think she likes it," he said, relaxing now that the tantrum seemed to have been headed off at the pass. It wasn't that he wasn't used to babies crying... but Nozomi had a set of LUNGS on her.

"Atta girl! Show it who's boss!" Devi laughed and wrestled the doll with her, making little play growl sounds.

Drac leaned back and laughed. "Aparently. Fair warning though, watch out for teething season. I've still got a few reminders from Devi. He tended to ... uh ... fight back." Chuckling she lifted the hem of her shirt to the bottom of her ribcage, showing the deep purple horsehoof mark that'd probably end up being permanent.

Drac is: Chillin'
"Thank gods she doesn't have hooves," Youko replied, eyes going wide as he saw the mark. "But yeah, I'll definately keep that in mind." His gaze went back to the pair on the couch, where Nozomi was clinging to the plushie with all her might and shrieking ecstatically with the play.
