.:Not Fade Away:.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sati rocked the swaddled baby, looking into the dark face that was peering from the baby-sling that the little girl was attached to her by. The sling was hung over one shoulder, tucked under her other arm and tied behind her back.

Sati hadn't bought any of the usual baby paraphernalia in the time proceeding the birth; she'd had no idea when her baby would actually be born, and she didn't think that the baby would be with her long enough to warrant buying it all. So, when the baby was born without her Guardian being present, she'd gotten her mother to buy a few things out of necessity, substituting with makeshift for things other than nappies and feeding bottles. The stuff that Karma had given Addie had come in handy, and Sayuri had still had some of Rhiannon and Sati's old baby things.

With all these thoughts in mind, Sati pushed open the HQ door, the hem of her purple and golden woven sari swishing above her bare feet. Her hair was loose, brushed out, hanging in soft waves down her back. Her wrists clinked gently, bangles falling and climbing as she moved her two arms - two arms, she'd still not gotten used to that feeling - the noise of which fascinated the baby she was carrying to no end.

Inside was quiet, as seemed to be usual these days. No one seemed to be about. Not Fa'e, not Guardian. She took a seat as the baby girl gurgled quietly. She had hoped that Tweek would be here, try as she might, she'd not heard anything from the woman she had hoped would be her baby's Guardian. And that worried her more than anything. More than the sorrow of her baby having to leave her, because this wasn't leaving. She would cease to be.

Sati undid the sheet, detaching the swaddling from herself and unwrapping her little girl so that she had room to wriggle a bit on her lap. It was with a bittersweet smile that she sat there, playing with the baby that she daren't name, letting the little girl gum one of her bangles, and hiding the baby's nose, a game that made her eyes light up and a heart melting giggle sound.

'I won't let you be nothing..I promise..' she whispered, planting a kiss on the curled mop atop the baby's head.

Quinny-chan
Quinn wasn't really sure where she was going, only that a note had come from Tweek requesting her to go to a certain address as soon as she finished reading. The tone of the note brooked no nonsense and while Quinn was unsure of what to expect when she arrived, she had been friends with Tweek long enough to know that she wouldn't ask a favor unless the need was dire.

Briefly, she wondered what had become of her friend, whom she had not seen in some time. It used to worry Quinn when Tweek disappeared, but it had been happening more frequently of late and so passed unremarked. She hoped she was ok. She was probably elbow deep in some pond somewhere, studying the marine life and unable to get away. The note had not detailed her current location, only bade Quinn to go. It had said that she trusted Quinn above all others and if she could just do this one thing, Tweek would find a way to make it up to her.

So, she had acquiesced. She had no idea what she was getting herself into, but how bad could it be? Absentmindedly, she wrung her hands around the end of her fox tail, musing on what errand the days journey would hand her. The sound of giggling made her unfocused eyes come to attention and she looked from the crumpled note in her hand up to the address on the mailbox. This was the place.

Tentatively, she raised her hand and knocked.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sati hummed a tune, continuing to gently rock her baby. Toothless gums worked on the golden bangle, and when the little girl pulled it away from her mouth, a line of drool hung for a moment before breaking.

'Lovely..' Sati chuckled, fishing out a tissue and wiping her mouth. She frowned, pausing in the act of wadding the tissue up and tilted her head in the direction of the door. She really didn't want to get up and answer it personally , especially as they were both comfortable.

'Come in - it's always open!' she yelled, hoping that whoever was out there would be able to hear her. The baby wrinkled her face up a little, and Sati worried that she might have made her cry, but her expression cleared again and she merely jammed the bangle back in her mouth.

Quinny-chan
Hearing what she hoped had been a muffled, "Come in," Quinn opened the door to the charming cottage and peered around inside. Shuffling, she took a few steps into the room, a bit taken aback by the violet and gold clad woman and the dark bundle that greeted her.

Grabbing the tip of her tail for comfort, she managed to squeak out a few words, "Um. Hi. I, uh... I have this friend. Tweek. And she told me to come here. I hope I'm not too late." She finished breathlessly, wringing her tail.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sati raised an eyebrow as the woman came inside and into view, her eyes flicking to the clutched fox tail. She wasn't sure she'd seen her around the HQ before, she couldn't place her face or attach a name to her, and given that she'd knocked before she'd either not been here before or was just very polite.

'Hello can I help you?' she started to ask before the woman gabbled out a sentence in short order.

'You know Tweek?' Sati sat up straighter, causing the little girl to make a noise of protest as she was moved abruptly. Sati checked on her, patting an indigo cheek softly to soothe her, before looking back at the fox-tailed woman.
'She told you to come here? What's happened to her? Can she not get here herself?' her forehead creased in an even deeper frown. If Tweek wasn't coming back? What would it mean for her baby? There would have to be another Guardian found, and she didn't even know how one went about doing that. Weren't they called after all?

Quinny-chan
Quinn balked under the attention -- the woman was quite commanding -- but she managed to hold out a shaking hand, the crumpled note rustling between her fingers.

"She gave me this note. You can read it... if you want."

She held out the note more confidently, repeating in her mind what it had said:

My dearest Quinn,

I expect this finds you well. I hope that one day soon, we can get together and catch up. I do miss you. However, circumstances being what they are, I have a favor to ask of you. Please go to the following address as soon as you've finished reading. I wish I could be there myself, but alas, I cannot get away. I trust you above all others, my dear, or I would not ask this of you. Just go. I have a feeling that the rest will fall into place.

Yours 'til Niagara Falls,

Tweek

Sayuri_Nitta
It seemed as though the only expression Sati would be wearing today was a frown, as she looked at the proferred note, taking it and reading it through. Once. Then once again. She then looked back at the nervous woman standing before her.

'This was all the explanation you got from her?' she tugged the note from her baby's hand, the paper tore a little, but the piece stayed attached and she handed it back to her.

'So..bearer of not exactly good tidings, I won't shoot the messenger, but why do you think she sent you with this news?'

Quinny-chan
Quinn took the note back, fiddling a bit with the torn corner. "This was it." She gulped at the word "shoot," but went on as though she didn't fear that the woman might mean her harm. "Tweek goes away sometimes. And I always water her plants and dust the house and take care of stuff. She trusts me."

She stood a bit taller with that admission. "She's my best friend. I don't know why I'm here, but I'll help however I can. That's what I do." She waggled her fingers a bit at the baby, unable to resist it's impish charm.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sati moved the baby, turning her so that Quinn could see her properly. Two red eyes fixed for a moment on the woman, before finding the tail and making a noise, waved two chubby hands in an attempt to grab it.

'She might trust you with her house, to water her plants, but does my child look like 'stuff' to you?' she questioned. She was finding it strange that as she looked now she was making the woman unsettled, because she thought that she looked the most normal she'd done since appearing in this world.

But it was only a passing curiosity, because in her arms was something far more important.
'Tweek was. Well, I believe that she was meant to be my baby's Guardian. Now she had gone, and I face the possibility of my baby fading away. Do you think I, or her father should trust you with her life?'

Quinny-chan
Quinn smiled as the baby cooed and reached for her tail. She held it forward, using the end to tickle the child's face. She was so absorbed in her play, that she was caught quite off-guard by Sati's accusations. "Well... no, mam. She looks like a baby. A floppy-eared, curly-haired baby waby baby!" Quinn cooed the last bit, continuing to make silly faces and to tickle the baby with her soft tail.

She looked up at Sati's last question. "Oh! You mean you want me to baby-sit?! Why didn't you say so? I'm aces with babies. Though... I never really understood why it was called 'baby-sitting'... I mean, you're not supposed to sit on the baby..." The seriousness of Sati's words finally began to pierce her nervous armor and she looked gravely at the woman, her tail still in her hands. "What do you mean, fade away?"

Sayuri_Nitta
Sati pursed her lips, but the baby liked it, giggling at the ticklish sensation and swiping at the russety-orange hairs of the tail. She would grab the new toy if she got lucky enough, and jam it in her mouth.

Sati shook her head at the question;
'This isn't baby-sitting. Guardian-ship isn't taking on a Fa'e for a few hours to give a parent a breather. It's a life-bond, and a necessary one. Do you think I would even be thinking of giving my child up if it wasn't something that has to be done?'

She looked directly at Quinn.
'She will cease to be. Just fade away..' her voice broke.
'Tweek was the one who had started to have the dreams! I thought she was meant to be her Guardian. She will be lost..our baby will be lost.'

Quinny-chan
Quinn cessation of movement had been opening enough for the baby to press her tail into it's mouth, gumming and sucking on the now ruddy fur. She smiled at the baby, finding the game amusing, but all signs of her smile faded as Sati explained.

"Oh," was all she could come up with for reply. Tears began to well up in her eyes as her natural empathy got the best of her. "So... unless I find Tweek... she'll just disappear? But I like the baby..." She sniffled a little at the thought of her new playmate being gone forever.

Composing herself, she looked up at Sati, her eyes liquid pools, "If you need Tweek... then, why am I here?"

Sayuri_Nitta
Sati watched as the baby finally captured her prize. She would retrieve the tail in a minute, before any ingestion of hairs, but for now she let her gum it, as it was keeping her occupied.
She raised an eyebrow at Quinn as she sniffled, seeing that she was on the verge of tears.

'You like the baby?' she said, amazed at the tact that the woman was not showing.
'I carried her for almost two years, she is my child, but I haven't even been able to name her because I don't know if it's my place to do so or if she'll have a future!'

Sati realised she was yelling, and let out a long breath, trying to calm down.
'I don't know..a Guardian is supposed to dream of their new charge before they get them. And Tweek had been having them. All I want, all I hope for is a miracle right now, that someone else has dreamt of my baby and they will save her.'

Quinny-chan
Quinn hadn't meant any disrespect by her comment, so she was a bit taken aback at the rather loud lecture she was getting in parental rights. It was just that she was rather short-sighted at times, not stopping to think that Sati might be feeling her own dismay a thousand times over.

She thought very hard and then, tentatively replied, "I had a dream about kangaroos the other day. Hopping all about this desert-y place and there was this big lizard watching them... but I don't suppose that helps much, does it?"

She reached out to wring her tail, but remembered it was otherwise occupied. She settled for fiddling with the crumpled letter instead.

Sayuri_Nitta
The baby had gotten fretful, upset by her mother's mood change and Sati rocked her a little, making soothing noises, hoping that she wouldn't start wailing.
'No,' Sati shook her head at Quinn's question.

'That isn't the same thing I don't think. You have to dream of the Fa'e..or dream of who she was? I know my own Guardian dreamt about Kali before I arrived because of what I was meant for.'

She continued to rock her baby, frustrated beyond reasoning because she couldn't see a solution. Her baby was going to fade into nothing and she was going to have to watch because Tweek had abandoned them.

Quinny-chan
Quinn thought about this for awhile, her face screwed up in concentration. Finally, she looked at Sati and asked, "Well... do you know who she was? Because maybe then it would be easier to find out who she is meant for. If she really needed Tweek to live, wouldn't she already be gone, since Tweek's not here? Maybe there is someone else?" She knew she really didn't understand what was going on and she was trying very hard not to upset the woman in her fragile state, but she wanted to help, none the less.

Sayuri_Nitta
'Nobody is ever born with the knowledge of who they were..at least as far as I am aware. It isn't as though I pushed out an instruction manual with her when I gave birth.'

Sati shook her head;
'I don't know how long it takes, I just know that it's inevitable. Fa'e have to have Guardian, or they fade away. I'll just have to cling to the hope that someone will come who has dreamt of her, dreamt of a soul that finds its way into the world in a dark-skinned little girl.'

She looked up at Quinn. Sati knew that she was full of empathy for her and her babies situation, and she seemed nice enough. If she only had dreamt of her!

Quinny-chan
Quinn looked rather abashed. She was embarrassed by what she was about to say. "You know, that kangaroo dream...? Well, the big lizard, she wore a dress and one of the kangaroos ran to her and was bleeding all over and then she hugged him and yelled, 'No! Brother! Do not leave me! You must not go!' And then he died. And she cried and let out this really sad noise and they turned to stone. And I heard the lizard woman speak, but it was carried on the wind. 'I am coming for you. Hold onto me.' And then I woke up and I found Tweek's note and came here."

She looked at her feet for a moment, unsure of how to continue. Finally, she shot a rueful smile at Sati and the baby and finished, "I'm sorry. That sounds stupid. I shouldn't have bothered you. I... I can go."

Sayuri_Nitta
'Wait..' Sati said, standing, her long hair falling behind her as she did so. She stood there for a long moment, quietly looking between Quinn and her baby, before making a choice.

'Here, you can hold her for a moment.' she said, arranging the girl in her arms so that she could hand her over to Quinn. A strange dream like that before she found a note from someone who she thought was meant to be the Guardian...Well, there was only one way to find out, and her child had already responded fairly positively towards the woman.

Quinny-chan
A broad smile bloomed on Quinn's face as she held her arms out to take the dark-skinned child. She loved babies and had been yearning to hold her the entire time she'd been in this strange house. She hadn't known how to ask, since the woman seemed so distraught about her child disappearing. It wouldn't have been right to limit their time together any more than necessary. She didn't know what had made the woman relinquish her now -- certainly not that silly dream -- but Quinn was not one to argue when she was getting her way, so she excitedly waited to be handed the baby and kept her mouth shut.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sati stopped, pausing just at the moment before she handed the baby over. There was suddenly something..like she knew that this was the moment.

This was when she gave her one and only child over to someone else to raise. Not because she wanted to. She didn't want to at all. Her eyes were shining with unshed tears, and she wanted more than anything to snatch her little girl away and just run. But that would condemn the baby. And Sati never wanted anything to harm her.

So Sati gave her baby to the other woman, pressing a hand to her mouth so that she wouldn't cry after she passed her to Quinn.

Quinny-chan
A happy little tingle passed through the fox-woman as she took the child in her arms. It felt right to hold her, like she had been waiting for this all her life. As Quinn situated the dark-skinned child in her arms, the bit of paper that had been torn from Tweek's note drifted to the floor. She stooped to pick it up and silently praised herself for not dropping the baby. Snagging it between her first two fingers, she used her thumb to flip it over. Written in Tweek's untidy scrawl was a post script:

P.S. Adelaide

A smiled bloomed on her wide face and she looked down at the bundle in her arms. Shoving the bit of paper in her pocket, she traced the child's features with her fingers and whispered, "Adelaide. She thought of everything."

Sayuri_Nitta
Sati felt a knot in her throat; she even had a name for her baby.
'Adelaide.' she mumbled, placing a hand on the babies head, feeling the delicate bones underneath the mop of hair.

'She's yours..I have to. I have to go..' she couldn't stand this any longer, she had to go, find somewhere she could howl for a while, and then get on with life knowing that she wouldn't see every inch of her babies development.

'I'll come here again..few days.' she managed to say.
'I'll see you again my heart.' she leaned in and kissed Adelaide's cheek before fleeing.

Quinny-chan
Quinn stood dumbfounded as Sati fled from the room. She was pretty sure that they hadn't even exchanged names. And now she had a child to look after and no baby things at home and she never expected the day to end like this when she woke up this morning. Looking down at the plump, wriggly baby in her arms, she reminded herself that it wasn't all bad. Smiling, she positioned the dark-skinned babe on her hip, wincing slightly as Addie reached up to pull on her fuzzy ear. "Well, I guess we should go shopping," she informed the little one. She looked the way Sati had fled and added, "I'll be sure to pick up a video recorder, too. I think that might make your mother happy."

She wrote down her name, address and phone number on a piece of paper under the heading, "For Adelaide's Mom," and headed out the door. Hopefully, the woman would see it and contact her when she was ready. If not, well, she'd just haunt this place until she saw her again. Little girls need their mothers and Quinn meant to see that Adelaide had her's.

Seung grumbled down at her worksheet before tossing her pencil in the fireplace. Calcifer shot the mothfish a grouchy look. Seung stuck her tounge out at him before pouting at her homework. Why did Oma have to give her worksheets when she was heading to the HQ? In both languages no less.

She sighed, leaning back against the couch to look at the ceiling. Not that there was anything better to do around here. She had to pick the one day no one was around. Lucky for her.

The Fa'e looked back at the papers before grabbing Mishy by the tail. "Mishy, do you want a snack?" she asked the plushie. A pause. "You'd like some cookies?" Another pause. "Well of course I want cookies too! Weren't you going to share with me?" Silence. "I thought so. Lets go find some." She flounced into the kitchen, Mishy flopping at her side.

Quinny-chan
Quinn tugged her ear out of her charge's pudgy grasp for what felt like the 400th time in the short duration that they had been together. She had to admit, it was probably a cute habit, to outsiders, but from her perspective, it just hurt. The child giggled at what she thought was a game and reached back for the ear, babbling happily to herself.

Quinn lifted Adelaide out of the sling and resituated her so that Quinn's ears were out of reach. Addie had a momentary urge to fuss, but ceased when she saw the door to the now familiar HQ. Quinn had been coming here regularly in search of Adelaide's mother, or at the very least, in search of someone who might know her.

Letting herself in, Quinn called, "Anyone here?" half-heartedly and settled herself on the couch to wait.

Nimaina Sekan
Seung reached into the cabinet, standing on tiptoe to try and grab a package of cookies. She just got the tips of her fingers on it when the door opened. "Aigu!" The mothfish jumped back guiltily, windmilling at the counter's edge. She remembered about flying belatedly and let herself drop, scrunching herself into a ball just in case her hovering decided not to work.

No pain, no crash of mothfish meeting kitchen floor. Just a soft fwump followed by a crinkly crash. She opened an eye carefully to see she was floating about half a foot away from the counter. Mishy wasn't so lucky, on the floor with the cookie package on top of him. "Learn to fly sooner, then you won't fall," Seung scolded him. The plushie didn't reply. "Fine, stay there then."

The girl waved her arms and wings again, pushing against air toward the door. "I'm here!" she called to the unfamilliar voice. Seung quickly lost height as she got into the common room and set her feet in front of her to land. "I'm Seung! What's your name?" she aske the unknown woman on the couch. Then she noticed the bundle in her arms. Was that...another Fa'e?

Quinny-chan
At sound of commotion in the kitchen, Quinn leaned over on the couch trying to see into the door. Her eyes widened at the sight of the hovering child and she snickered quietly as she watched her flail. It was obvious that she was perfectly safe and it was comical.

As the girl approached the common room, Quinn straightened her body and her face, not wanting to be caught snooping or snickering. She smiled as Seung addressed her and freed Adelaide from the sling, arranging her so that the babe could see the newcomer. It was clear from Seung's looks and location that she was of a kind with Addie. Perhaps this waif would know the baby's mother and would be able to help Quinn locate her.

"Hello, Seung. I'm Quinn and this is Adelaide," she replied, bouncing the dark-skinned baby on her lap, to the baby's great enjoyment.

Nimaina Sekan
Seung plopped onto the couch before remembering to say "Nice to meet you." She quickly turned her attention to the baby, not really sure what to say to Quinn. "Anyong Ade...Ad...Adel," the mothfish struggled over the baby's name. Why did everyone have to have long names with hard syllables in them? "Aderade?" she managed to finish, coming as close as she could with her accent.

The little girl looked kind of frightening to Seung, darkskinned with bone-like markings all over. But she looked so happy, and how scary could a baby be? The mothfish grinned and waggled her ears at the baby.

"Aderade is Fa'e?" she asked Quinn, more of a conformation than an actual question.

Quinny-chan
Quinn laughed light-heartedly at the child's pronunciation troubles. She was awfully cute and Quinn was laughing more at her charm than her mistake. "Ad-el-aid," she spoke slowly, for Seung's benefit. "But you can call her Addie, if that's easier."

Addie reached her chubby hands towards Seung's waggling ears, wanting to give them a tug and perhaps a taste. Quinn chuckled and placed the tot on the couch between herself and Seung. "She has a thing for ears, it seems," she confided, giving her own a bit of a rub. "And yes, she is a Fa'e. "

It occurred to her then that this child might know Addie's mother, so she added, "I met her mother here yesterday. She's got long dark hair and wears bangle bracelets... and she said something about Kali... do you know who I'm talking about? I never got her name, which is weird, since I got her daughter..."

Nimaina Sekan
Seung sighed in relief. Nicknames were so much simpler to pronounce. "Addie's shorter, it's easier." And it didn't have that pesky "L" sound.

She leaned down a bit so Addie could take a closer look at her ears. They were a bit more rigid than human ears and she doubted the little girl could do anything to them. But they tweaked up at Quinn's comment. She wasn't sure she wanted to let the baby near hers then.

"Thought so," she replied to Quinn. Why else would an odd looking baby be around the HQ after all? The mothfish pondered the woman's question, her mouth pulling to one side of her face while she thought. "Dark hair...Lethe does, but she's too little. Sati maybe? Or Rei." It had been a long while since she had seen either of them, so she wasn't sure about the bracelets. And Seung had never even heard of Kali.

"Sati had a baby inside when I met her! But Rei's old enough to have a baby too. Did she have wings? Or lotsa arms?"

Quinny-chan
Nose wrinkling with what she knew wouldn't be a helpful comment, she replied, shrugging, "Um... neither? Just the normal two arms and no wings. But if Sati?" she checked with Seung to make sure she had the name right, "had been pregnant before, maybe she's the right one? Her skin is kind of olive toned and she has almond shaped eyes... if that helps?" Why was making sure that the mother of the baby she had just been given could continue seeing her child so hard?

Addie, oblivious to Quinn's frustration, continued reaching for Seung, babbling incoherently and clapping her tiny hands at intervals.

Nimaina Sekan
Seung reached her hands out to Addie, wiggling her fingers toward her face.

Seung shook her head slowly. "Sati had four arms and...black skin," she said, her voice trailing off as she looked at Addie. Maybe? "Um, Aboji said he used to have wings and Omoni had long ears, but they had me and now they don't. I do." She pointed at her ears and rustled her wings in demonstration. "So maybe somethin' goes away when Fa'e have a baby and goes to baby."

Quinny-chan
Addie swung her arms, trying to catch Seung's fingers. She bordered between happy with the game and annoyed at not being able to catch them. Of course, if Seung made it a little easier for her, they would most likely end up in the baby's mouth, as most things did.

Tousling Adelaide's hair, Quinn sighed and said, "I really don't have any idea how it works. I'm rather new to this whole thing. It's just that her mother seemed rather upset at having to give her up and I wanted to make sure that she knew where Addie and I are, just in case she ever wanted to stop by."

Quinn thought a moment more, not wanting to discount the child's theory. "Do your ears and wings look like the ears and wings that... um, is Aboji your father? And what was the other one?"

Nimaina Sekan
Seung nodded. She didn't have much contact with Naia, but she wanted to. She hoped Addie and her mom could see each other. The mothfish grinned down at the baby and swirled her fingers around, using two of them to tap the girl's nose.

"Ye, Aboji's father and Omoni is mother. Oma's my Guardian." She looked back at her wings, trying to compare them to a picture she had of Anen from before she was hatched. "Kinda...his were bigger, but he's alot bigger than me. And they didn't have blue, but they look alot alike. Omoni's ears had some spiky things I think. But simi...mostly same," Seung changed the last word, deciding she didn't feel like mangling her way through the sounds.

Quinny-chan
Addie laughed as the fingers tapped her nose and she reached for them, both with hands and mouth.

"Well, from what you've told me, it's most likely that Sati is Addie's mother. I wrote my information down yesterday on that piece of paper," she indicated the note on the coffee table, "so hopefully she'll see it and contact me." Quinn took in the room, really seeing it for the first time, since yesterday had been filled with such strange occurrences.

"So... is this like, the Fa'e house? Or do you all just hang out here? How many of you are there, anyway?"

Nimaina Sekan
"This's HQ. I think some live here, through the fireplace and upstairs." She pointed at Calcifer before making a "poof" motion with her hands to Addie, bringing them in reach of the chubby hands. "Other Fa'e come around sometimes, easier to meet Fa'e here." Seung thought about how many other Fa'e she met or heard about. "Not sure how many of us. Couple dozen?"

"Maybe post the note up? So she could see it better and it won't get lost. I think there's a board somewhere."

Quinny-chan
Addie wrapped her fingers around Seung's, shaking them back and forth and pulling them towards her ever curious mouth.

"A couple dozen? Wow!" Quinn had no idea that there could be so many, or even, really, what the Fa'e were. She was flying by the seat of her proverbial pants, here. "I thought of that yesterday, but I didn't want to snoop around someone else's house. If I find a board, I'll be sure to pin it up. I brought some tape today, so I could at least tape it to a wall." She chuckled at the interaction between the two children. "You're pretty good with babies. Do you have any little brothers or sisters?"

Nimaina Sekan
"Maybe. I just know there's alot. Anyway, Addie's Fa'e and your her Guardian, so you can snoop. Can even live upstairs for awhile if you want." Seung was a little wary of letting the girl get her fingers in her mouth. Not wanting baby drool all over her hands, she pulled them back a bit and started clapping, singing a Korean rhyme.

"Eh? I am?" She looked up at Quinn, surprised. "I'm the littlest, got big brother, kind of. And cousins, but they're older."

Quinny-chan
"Well, you're doing very well with her." Quinn looked around the room a bit distractedly and muttered under her breath, "I wonder if there's like, an instruction manual or history or something..."

Addie burbled along with the singing, enjoying it very much.

Nimaina Sekan
Seung smiled and finished up the song. One thing good about babies, they didn't seem to care what language you talked in. She looked up at Quinny, not quite sure if she heard something. "Maybe talk to another Guardian. Like Oma." As if on cue, a trilling sound came from Seung's chest. She managed to pry one and and reach under her jeogori to pull out a small purse. A cell phone inside was ringing and blinking merrily.

Seung answered and after a few exchanges hung up and sighed. "Oma says I gotta go home. Almost dinnertime." She freed her other hand, retrieved Mishy from the kitchen and came back for her worksheets. "Anyong Quinn, anyong Addie. Maybe see you again here?" she asked hopefully.

Quinny-chan
Addie began to fuss as Seung removed her hands from the baby's grasp, so Quinn scooped her up and bounced her on her lap to quiet her. Addie reached around and took hold of Quinn's tail, gumming it delightedly.

"Good bye, dear," Quinn replied. "And I'm sure you will! Have a good dinner, Seung! It was very nice to meet you."

A Seronil courier backwinged sharply in front of Quinn's door, checking the address as he did so. He still wasn't sure how Nima got all her addresses right especially for people she didn't know. She certainly didn't use a phonebook. Whatever, none of the packages had been sent back yet. The address matched the one on his list so he set the package on the doorstep, knocked on the door twice and flew off onto his next delivery.

A note was attached to the box, written in large, painstakingly perfect letters:

The note
Miss Quinn,
It was very nice meeting you and Addie. I wanted to send her something and Oma said I should add somethings for you too because you will need them. I am not sure what she meant, but we added them anyway. I hope I can see you and Addie soon. Oma said she would like to meet you.

TODDLER QUEST!

Oh no! How in the heck did Addie's little snail manage to run away! And at the worst of times, right when she's getting ready to grow! Gosh, you just can't trust those things, can you?

She's going to need some new friends to cheer her on to the next stage of life. Say, at least five snails, plus a terrarium to keep them from dashing off on her again and a bunch of plants for them to munch on.

But just having a peanut gallery isn't enough, you know. Adelaide may not remember her past life, but there's some things she just knows that she has to get her hands on: A set of bongos (or any sort of tribal drum), something relating to kangaroos, and something related to lizards. Then, and only then, she will be ready....

Sati shimmered into view, nearly falling over as she did so. The throbbing pain that started up everytime she used what faint dregs of her old powers she had left kicked in again, and she pressed a hand to her temple, giving herself a moment before she approached the front door of Quinn's house. She knocked, listening but there didn't see to be any answer, nor any sounds from inside and so she placed down the plastic container with airholes, sliding the crisp, white envelope underneath it. After doing so Sati took her leave.

Inside the container, nestled in a bed of leaves, this little fellow was making silvery patterns;

Quinn,
I saw your note pinned up in the HQ, and my heart lurched at the thought of my baby crying. I only hope that until Gloo is found, the snail I left and any others that get dropped off will help take her mind off her little pet, and stop her tears.
Please give Addie many hugs and kisses from me, and I hope very much to see you soon.

All my love to Addie,
Sati xx

This was ridiculous. Mikhail could not believe he was doing this. He couldn't believe his guardian was making him do this! Didn't he at least deserve a day or two before Stefan started bothering him about the whole being Fa'e thing? But no. It had taken the dhampir no time at all to remind him that he'd promised he'd try, and naturally, that meant going to the HQ and being bored out of his mind for a few hours while he sat and waited for someone to walk in. And what was he supposed to do if it was someone he didn't like? Try to be nice? Mik was not good at faking getting along with people.

However, only several minutes into his visit, he noticed something on the message board and went to see what it said. Someone had...lost their snail? Sati's kid? Ugh, Sati. But whatever. In an honest effort to be a good Fa'e (seriously?) he'd gone home and gone snail-hunting. Apparently, however, that wasn't enough! He'd made the mistake of explaining his strange activities to Stefan, and once he'd found a snail, he had to go the extra mile and give it a nice little home.

It was the weirdest, stupidest craft project ever, making a 'home' out of some old bottle for a snail. At least no one was there when he came back to drop it off; he didn't want to have to explain something like this. He left it under the message board and got the hell out of there before his luck ran out.

Dear Quinny & Addie -

I saw your note while looking for info on one of my friends (about yea tall, purple orbs floating around his body, blonde hair - have you seen him?) and it reminded me that we've had a tremendous snail problem in the garden of the building where I live. By the time I got back home, the super had managed to mostly decimate the population, but I did find this little guy cowering by the drainpipe. Take good care of him! He's a survivor!

Love!!!!

The note is attached to a small plastic cup with saran wrap covering the lid. Inside is a snail. He looks very, very happy to be alive.

From Flarie & Skye
Hey! We were out shopping today and there was someone handing out free samples of this energy drink along with these little lizard tattoos. We saw the note while passing the HQ and, well... These might be a bit more useful in the hands of a child than they will be cluttering up our house, or sticking to my walls, or plastered all over me when I wake up if I make the mistake of insulting Flarie's cooking before going to sleep...

I hope these count as something relating to lizards! Stop by some time and we'll see about sharing one of the energy drinks with you too!

Skye is: Semi-hiatus until after the holiday.
Enjoy some art by Ende in the meantime. <3

Strange Letter
To Seeker of the Snail,

Honored one, forgive my intrusion upon you but I found this snail on my way to the market. It wouldn't leave me be until I brought it to you. This creature is very insistent and strange. Please, please take it.

...It scares me a little.

The note
Miss Quinn

I was sorry to hear about Addie's snail. I hope you can find it soon, but hopefully this will keep her mind off of it until then. This little one was living in Oma's pond and she does a great deal of magic there, so don't be surprised if it does anything...odd. It seems to like squirting colored water at things. Hopefully it will make Addie laugh.

The note is attached to a jar filled with bits of plants and twigs. Indeed, there are little bright spots of color on some of the leaves and sticks and down the sides of the glass, which seem to fade after a couple of hours. A small snail makes it's way around the jar.

A week after Sati had dropped off the snail, there was another delivery from her, sent by courier this time. The box was dropped off on the door step, and there would be a note on top of the gift inside;

Quote:

To Addie,
From your mummy, with love.

Sati xx.

In the box were a pair of drums, almost identical except for their size;
