Dealings and Betrayals - Now with More Pirates (Quest RP)

"Cinderfae"
Cinder stood on the plank waiting for the others her eyes flickering over the bay of their landing pad. After a healthy shot of stimulants and pain medication for the changes that Karaskis was doing to her body she was ready to head out. It had been a long night and her side still pained her from where she had taken a hit from a sentry, it had been her bad luck and theirs as well that they had come across her. The wound wasn't that bad but it was annoying and made the aches she was already getting from Karaskis that much worse; which was why she was glad she had painkillers on the ship.

You came out ahead and that is what is important. Karaskis was voicing on the bit of herself Cinder was not allowing to come to the surface. The bit of her that nagged and fumed over the fact that she had ended up killing the lone sentry. She hoped that the strife she had noticed last night would mask the pirate's death from rousing suspicion.

Hearing the others within she turned slightly to get sight of them, "lets get heading out and get this over with as soon as possible. Remember we come back and then take the side doors heading to the pleasure district. We'll be staying there until we get our other ship this evening, Kalfyra says she'll have more food for us when we get there." Cinder grinned faintly, "she cleared out the pantry deciding that the Naruni couldn't have it."

Cinder had changed into one of her normal uniforms also wondering if she'd be able to get another stealth suit from the Naruni before they headed out. Her's had taken the bulk of the blaster hit last night. Without more commentary Cinder headed for the door of the docking bay.

"Eftemie"
Saljin nodded, stepping to the side. Both he and Jaster were wearing two pistols this time. Hopefully the pirates would think that it was to keep their slaves under control until they returned to their ship. Triq was remaining with Kalfyra to help her with the food.

The night had been uneventful for them but everyone had worried about Cinder being out there alone as she had been. The things they had taken from the ship were safely tucked away in the rooms they had paid for. The shifter would be glad when this entire business was over so he could take some time to relax. But he was quite certain that there would be little time for that for some time to come. Too much needed rebuilding already. "We won't forget, Cinder."

Jaster was still frowning as he watched her move. Any injury at all was too much and he had fussed over her most of the night. He still watched her closely to make sure she did not push and hurt herself more. There was a certain amount of stiffness easily noticeable in her movements when she had first awaken. Now she was moving much easier and his worry for her was smoothed away more. Hopefully they'd get this person and the others they were buying as extras and be able to get out as expected. Especially if the pirates still thought to attack them once they were off the planet. "Let's get this done. The sooner it is, the better our chances of getting home without trouble."

Taj thought it was amusing and had commented on it several times until Jaster got extremely annoyed about it. Waging war with his host was not what he had wanted to do and after a few moments, he simply sighed, letting him alone. Too much was in turmoil to add more at a whim of amusement.

"Xanil"
Eddard felt stiff in his recently acquired garb, but still enjoyed the new finery. He smirked at the comment about taking the food. He had the same notion, but when he went to help pack up, Kalfyra was already well ahead of him. Before crossing the hanger to the main exit and waiting for everyone else to finalise what ever preparations were neglected, he gave Cinder a once over. She seemed to be alright, maybe a little banged up, but she carried it well. Eddard assumed she was fine though she could always sit this one out if she needed to.

As he stood there, he had a notion. "Guys, are we bringing all of Arithon's treasure? I was thinking we might not want to, in case the pirates are on to us, or they grow impatient and things get heated. What do you think? We could leave some of it here, in the ship and then get it when we comeback before heading to the inn." The concern was justified. One never knew how informed Tybalt and one also never knew how he would react should he sense a double cross.

"Ithiltari"
Arithon looked slightly uneasy at the suggestion to leave part of the treasure behind. It was, of course, a good idea to not bring the entire amount with them. Having it all on hand made it easier to spend, and Jin Huang would appreciate having as much returned as possible.

"But what if they know that there's more of it and they raid the ship while we're gone?" he asked, voicing his other thought. "I c'n stay behind and guard what's not taken."

"Cinderfae"
Pausing slightly Cinder paused watching Eddard a moment in some amusement at his discomfort before glancing over to Arithon. She waited a time to consider it, "alright, head over to the rooms. Keep an eye on the treasure and the pieces we have collected. You can be back up for the Aoidei...they are both helpful but neither Kalfyra nor Triq are warriors." Cinder looked over to Jaster, Saljin, and then Eddard, "I think it's a sound idea myself." Cinder glanced toward the door as well feeling the day wear on.

"Lets get moving then, Arithon I'll take the few bars of gold. You keep the rest. I think gold should be enough for these slaves since the pirates are already planning to take it back later on." She glanced to Eddard with a thoughtful look before speaking again, "lets not get more then five at the most we don't want to take on too many especially not knowing what sort of ship we are going to be left going back in." She knew what Eddard had in mind but she didn't want to buy a cargo or transportation ship just to get back.

"Eftemie"
Jaster nodded. "It makes sense. And one other thing, we might want to treat them as slaves even if we have to apologize to them later. That is what we are buying them for. The pirates might suspect something if we treat them nicely."

Saljin agreed also. "If we are trafficking in slaves then we have to treat them as such. It will be expected." He frowned thoughtfully. "Jaster and I will bring up the rear as usual and push them a bit, just to maintain that appearance. We will give them an apology once in the rooms."

"Xanil"
Eddard nodded his head. It did make sense to treat them accordingly even if he didn't like it. As for the amount, any were better than one. He just hoped that the pirates wouldn't fly a slave ship with the rest of their ships in pursuit of theirs later today. If the Naruni brought even a shred of the technology they boasted, Eddard was sure it would spell certain doom for the pirates. "I can follow those guidelines," he said, finally responding to the group, "treat them like dirt and no more than five slaves. Saljin, since you know the engineer's face, I'm going to go ahead and let you pick the other four slaves. I don't want you to pick the one and then myself to pick the others, that might also draw attention to him." Eddard moved over to the hanger's door and pushed it open, the sounds of the city coming in doors a bit more loudly. Putting on his best "boss" voice, "Lets go men. We can discuss the rest as we make our way to meet with Tybalt."

"Cinderfae"
Cinder smiled faintly hearing Eddard's 'boss voice' but then fell in behind and let him make the way to the meeting point. It was close to where they had met the other day but actually in front of the Diswes Flagship instead of in the restaurant; it seemed a good portion of slaves were kept on the ship. Cinder wondered idly if any would make their escape once the ship was damaged and the pirates were distracted.

As the group moved through the city it seemed almost quiet, considering the noise and violence of the night before it was more eerie then if it had been noisy. Broken bottles and at times blood was seen in the streets, Cinder was glad that most had taken to their homes or where sleeping in today. The aggression wasn't hard to notice over the past few days, she just hoped it didn't make the pirates more difficult to deal with but somehow she knew it would.

The landing area of the Southern District opened up in front of them and Tybalt stood with several of his men. Behind them a rag tag group of men, women, and a few that looked as if they were barely more then children stood. Most of them were dirty and had seen better days but at least it appeared they had been fed recently and regularly, bad for the trade to offer up shoddy slave stock. Seeing the group arriving Tybalt raised his hand in greeting and offered what could only be described as a false smile, Cinder had a feeling the man would be horrible at poker.

"ah, Greetings. We are here to do the business you spoke of the other day. Have only brought out the finest that we have with us."

"Eftemie"
"As you say, boss. Just tell me when." The shifter replied as he stepping into place behind Eddard. He'd be glad when this was over.

Saljin and Jaster brought up the rear as they had each time before. The shifter stepped to the side carefully looking over each person without walking forwards. It would be presumptious of him to move forwards and begin checking them out without Eddard's orders. His eyes glided over the women first, carefully, a smirk appearing on his face as he watched one woman in particular. He wanted the pretense of what he was thinking to be very apparent.

She was a pretty thing, though looked fragile. He'd grab her making his intentions plain, but apologize when they got them to the ship. She'd not fight much, he was certain, but she'd look horrified and fearful of him and his leer said he was interested before he turned his attention to the men. And he singled out two other females that he would look closely at before settling on her and one of the others.

Some of the men were older and he barely looked at them until he got to the grouping of engineers. Three caught his attention. One was the fellow that had challenged that night and gotten belted for his words. A bruise was easily seen and he had decided to take him. Fighting would get him killed and Saljin was quite certain that he'd not be alive if they returned. One was the fellow they needed and he glanced at him appraising him from head to toe, before turning to look over the third.

"Xanil"
"Thank you for your consideration, Tybalt, and well met." Eddard was cordial as he had been during the early stages of their prior encounter. "Lets get down to business, shall we?" He raised his hand and waved the shapeshifter on, "Saljin. You earned the right to choose our quarry, pick as you see fit," he said in a commanding voice.

He turned to Tybalt while Saljin set about to the task of choosing slaves. "So, since were buying from your kennel, what can you tell us about their conditions? Our boss doesn't want to purchase fickle stock that winds up being lame and useless. He's not particularly understanding of products poor in quality," he said as a matter of factually..

"Cinderfae"
Cinder's eyes flickered over to Saljin as Eddard spoke and ordered him forward. Watching the shifter set into motion she then glanced over to the other guards that the pirates had in the area, if there was trouble it would come from them. The pirates along the outer edges all looked somewhat twitchy and in one Cinder could have swore she saw the start of what must be some sort of disease, a rash moving along the man's neck. Likely something picked up whoring at the docks she thought to herself. After catching sight of the pirate her eyes flickered over to the grouping of slave stock and with a slight frown she noticed a few of those gathered also appeared to be ill. She hoped that those that Saljin chose wouldn't bring anything untreatable on board; she made a note to make sure whatever ship they got later in the day had a full stocked medical bay. If it had been her home planet she would have felt more securely about the whole idea of treating illness...because that is what Sapros was known for. Pulling her thoughts from wandering she looked back to the group.

"We keep all our slaves in good conditions, it would be silly to mistreat them. Of course they are disciplined of needed but a slave that is sick or starving brings little coin. You will find only the top of the line here. And as such the prices will reflect this," Tybalt smiled in what could almost be a friendly fashion, though the impression was lost when one realized he also flashed his teeth some as he did. "I'm sure your boss will be pleased with what we have to offer, once you have chosen we can explain price. Those with training are of course more expensive then the untrained."

"Eftemie"
"As you say, Boss. I'm going to enjoy this. Saljin grinned widely, a rather wicked smirk sliding across his face. He was going to enjoy this or so those who watched him would think. Moving towards the women first, he circled the first two, making them open their mouths so he could look at their teeth. Then he patted them on the rear as he passed by to get a reaction. The second growled nearly turning on him, but stopped at his smirk knowing he was ready for it and daring her to do it.

Then he moved towards the more fragile girl he had been looking at. He not only circled her twice, he smirked as he did so. She nervously tried to move away from him, but he grabbed her arm, pulling her roughly against him. "I didn't say you could go anywhere, pretty." She trembled trying to push away from him but she had little strength to do so. The shifter laughed pushing her forwards as he suddenly released her. She stumbled nearly tripping, but stood shivering as she lowered her eyes in fear. "Definitely her, boss."

Backtracking, he shoved the woman forwards who had attempted to hit him. "I think her too. She's feisty." He didn't say that he was certain that feistiness would get her killed before they returned if they got that chance.

Moving towards the men, Saljin walked down the row, stopping to study one or two before he moved in closer. Noting that at least six wore engineering patches, he frowned thoughtfully for a long moment. Picking the one who had argued with the guards the previous night, he shoved him forwards.

"You can't sell me." The man growled in frustration. "This is ridiculous."

Saljin didn't hesitate. His hand lashed out, hitting the man and knocking him to his knees. "We do as we like. That tag says you are a senior engineer. Be glad that we need at least one. So don't give me any trouble or you will regret it." His voice was a mean spirited snarl causing the fellow to flinch as he slowly got to his feet and moved to where the two women were hugging one another.

The shifter smirked in satisfaction, but turned back to the rest of the men, studying them silently. Reaching out he grabbed the shirt of the one he knew was the fellow they were after pulling him forwards. He still wore the patch on his shirt. Saljin started to move away, but then reached back and pulled the youngest looking one forwards. He wasn't an engineer, but he didn't look like he'd last long with them. Pushing both towards the other three, he gazed at them a moment. Satisfied, he turned to Eddard.

"I think these five will do, Boss. I don't think there's much fight in them except maybe the old man, but that can be remedied easily. They'll do what we need them to."
Saljin stated, standing to one side of the grouping he'd chosen.

"Xanil"
Eddard looked over the five chosen from where he stood. "Well enough though it may have been wiser to go with one less woman and one more man for labor. But then again, you have always been insatiable." He turned back to the captain, "How much for the lot of them? What are they, two engineers and three laborers?" He stood, waiting for Tybalt's response, hoping to conclude business as quickly as possible.

"Cinderfae"
Cinder's eyes flickered over those that Saljin chose, despite the more fragile girl being somewhat of a worry none seemed to have at least now taken any sort of diseases. She was glade he didn't seem to have picked any of those that had been pirates on the Athenia, except perhaps Faran she didn't really know about him. Looking over the two males she wondered which one he was.

"Interestin' choices, needing engineers I see." Tybalt shrugged faintly looking somewhat curiously at the group and then turned looking to Eddard, "though the tiny miss I suggest for pleasure work, not an ounce of muscle on that frame."

The fragile looking girl trembled slightly after the assessment and Cinder gritted her teeth slightly, they needed to be done with this dealing and out of here.

"Well most are just from normal stock, da pretty ones I'd like about five hundred credits extra for and well one has a special price," Gesturing toward Faran somewhat idly Tybalt considers on, "hundred thousand, now I do have some of lesser skill that would run you cheaper but...he is actually rather good at what he does."

Cinder quirked a brow glancing over to Faran, she wondered what exactly he had done to gain such a price.

"You going to be offerin' any more of those diamonds? An' for all I would say a nice round three hundred thousand," a smile came over Tybalt's face, "rounded it off for ya."

Cinder just barely kept herself from rolling her eyes, the price was sort of outrageous, she didn't have that on her. She did have the few gold bars passed on to her by Arithon, stepping up she waits near Eddard hoping he remembers they have some gold to offer as well. Cinder was pretty sure Tybalt was testing them to see what they would, or if they had the coin.

"Xanil"
He gave Tybalt a wry smile, shaking his head, "Rounded it up is more like it. Now we were more than generous with our negotiations the day prior, but I need remind you, if you recall the slaves are a sample of your common stock of goods that you normally deal in that we intend to take back to our employer for his assessment. It would bode well for future endeavors with our employer that you show a certain degree of flexibility in this. After all, a good working relationship with our patron is certainly more profitable than a poor one. Why don't we start the negotiations at say around 150 grand? That seems much more realistic than that gouged price you just offered." Looking to Tybalt's crew, he picked out a couple of pirates who were obviously in the early stages of some sort of ailment and pointed one out, "Besides, do you take us for fools. If they've been exposed to whatever that one's coming down with," and then pointing to another, "or what that one's catching than these slaves could be far more trouble than they're worth at even 150 grand."

Eddard was done being prodded and bullied by the greedy captain. They had been on the defense in all their negotiations and the amount he just asked for far surpassed a reasonable price, no matter how jacked up it was.

"Cinderfae"
Cinder rocked back and forth slightly listening, if there was indeed a specific bounty or price on the one Eddard's suggested starting price was much lower then what they would be worth all together. She wondered how easily the captain would let it go.

Tybalt watched Eddard a moment in some amusement, "keep in mind that one," he gestures to Faran, "has a specific price on his head, well trained as well."

Cinder raised a brow, once again wondering about Faran. They'd have time to talk to him once they were done here.

"I'll drop it fifty thousand from my original offer but don't push me too much. Your master or not I won't allow myself robbed either."

"Xanil"
Eddard looked a little discouraged but retorted. "250, huh? 220 and we'll call it done." He smiled inwardly, knowing the more money they kept in their possession the more juicy a target they would seem to the greedy pirate. "I assure you, the better the deal you give us today the better chances your profits from us will be down the road."

"Cinderfae"
Tybalt quirked a brow at that and eyed Eddard a moment as if considering, "two hundred and twenty five but that is as low as I can go." He gave a smile as if appearing to be genuine but ended up looking more predatory.

"If you'll agree to that we can get into the how of payment next."

Cinder glanced over the lot, a bit overpriced she figured but not as bad as before. The mark up wasn't more then she would have expected. Her eyes flickered over to the others in the area and noted that the other pirates seemed more restless then normal as well.

Your right, the sooner we are out of here the better...

She didn't need Karaskis to speak up for her to already know that the goddess agreed, somehow the bit of speech was comforting.

"Xanil"
"Done, and well played sir. As far as payment goes, I'll allow my associate, the red-headed woman, to finalize the method of payment. I want to get a good look at the slaves we just agreed to." Turning to Saljin, "If were still over budget, you might have to cough something up for that little pretty of yours. If you don't have anything to offer up, you can borrow from me again, but you know what that will cost you." He gave the fragile looking woman a wanton leer before going over to inspect his purchase.

"Eftemie"
Saljin growled faintly. Eddard meant to use something of his to do this. Then he understood. His sapphire earring. His father would have been pleased at its use to free someone like the girl, but he needed to show annoyance.. "Figures. I just got it back." His eyes narrowed at the girl. "She'd better be worth it." Reaching up, he removed the sapphire earring, holding it in his hand a long moment as if contemplating its worth against hers. "Women... Always get me in trouble."

"For part of the payment."
the shifter stated, holding out the earring to Tybalt. "It's an antique and one of the finest quality sapphires you'll find as old as it is."

Jaster suddenly snorted. "It's your own fault. And the boss loves setting you up like that and you fall for it each time." He smirked at Saljin and then turned back to watching Cinder and Tybalt.

"Cinderfae"
Cinder stepped forward with a slight sigh, as if to say 'men'. Cinder snatched the earring from Saljin as she walked up to Tybalt, holding it up to the light she did a quick mental appraisal, "that's at least worth one pleasure slave. Lets call it twenty five thousand," her voice was matter of fact and almost bored with a slight tone that almost dared Tybalt to argue with her.

Tybalt watched her in some amusement, "I'd say more like twenty, but I'm feeling generous." He flashed her a smile.

"Twenty five, the rest will be in gold." She did a quick mental calculation in her mind, "and the last part credits." She almost winced since she'd have to dish out around fifty thousand in small credits. She wondered if that would deter the pirates any but decided likely it wouldn't, after all they had caught a glimpse of what Arithon had been carrying the other day.

Pay the last bit in pennies...

Amusing but not productive.

Setting the money together Tybalt gestured one of his men forward to get it, "A pleasure doing business with you."

"With you as well," Cinder turned and looked over to Jaster and then Saljin motioning them toward the slaves, "get 'em lined up and ready to go back; ready when you are boss." She glanced to Eddard with the last and moved back among the others.

"Xanil"
Eddard nodded, stepping back away from the slaves to allow Saljin and Jaster to line them up. Without so much as a good bye to the pirates, Eddard lead the group off heading to the hanger. He hoped the Naruni were waiting for them back at the hanger. The quicker Cinder could finalise the deal between her and the Overseer, the quicker they could get out of here.

The pace back to the hanger was slowed in due part of the slaves. On the way Eddard noted that even more people seemed to be ill than there had been this morning. He recalled Jaster mentioning apocalypse themed occurences, some of which he had been subjet too. He wondered if Sh'Khin was responsible for this cloud of illness that seemed to hang in the air not liking it much.

Let it not bother you. Plague is what he is. Should he not be then he goes against his sworn duty to the Lord. And what kind of megaverse would it be should its gods go against their inherent responsibilities?

Eddard only nodded in silence. He drifted back to Cinder as they went. "When do you think you'll meet with the Overseer?"

"Eftemie"
The entire way, Jaster and Saljin pushed the slaves to remain in line. They had to keep up the pretense for all their sakes. The shifter was quite certain they were being watched. Followed, but there was little he could do. Instead he leered at the girl though the other woman glared at him angrily. It only made him smirk more. Keeping a close eye on the one they'd really come after, Saljin watched him silently. He wondered why there was a price on his head that made him worth so much more than the others.

The girl fearfully watched Saljin the entire way to the hanger. Clutching at the woman beside her, she tried to keep up with the others. At least they were off that awful pirate ship. This could not be worse, could it? she wondered briefly. So much had changed in such a short time for all of them.

"What do you think they are going to do with us?" she whispered to her companion.

"Keep moving."
Saljin growled shoving from behind. She nearly tripped over her skirt as the other woman kept her on her feet.

"Why don't you leave her alone?" the female finally growled.

"Shut up and do what I asked."
Saljin snarled back in reply. The sooner they got this done the better. He owed them all some serious apologies.

"Cinderfae"
Cinder moved the group through the city, she'd make sure to vaccinate everyone once they got to the rooms. The ship they got from the overseer would need to have a medical bay as well. She wanted to keep everyone contained in their rooms tonight, gesturing the group into the hanger she shut the door and locked it up.

"Alright, get them on through to the rooms." She looked over to Saljin and Jaster as she spoke. Her eyes then went toward the ship and sure enough there was a two man Naruni crew. The group they had just bought settled some seeing the Naruni as if suspecting that something was up. The woman labeled as 'fiesty' earlier started to speak up likely to ask a question. Cinder brought her finger to her lips, "just head on through, everyone will get a meal and we can talk a bit then." The five had a somewhat more surprised look on their faces as Cinder spoke and then turned and strode toward the two Naruni.

"I left her prepped for you, the Lark system is on board and the Diswes flagship is going to start experiencing trouble right about..." taking a palm unit from her pocket Cinder put in a rather long code before hitting the enter, there was no huge explosion but deep within the Diswes ship several key systems started to go offline, "now."

She sighed glancing to the Daughter, "I suggest you get moving along as quickly as you can."

"Xanil"
The Naruni nodded and with haste turned and quickly took there places in the cockpit, firing the ship up. Once everyone in the hanger was safely away from the ship, the Naruni took off, making haste to exit the atmosphere.

"We should wait a moment, make sure the tail is satisfied and on his way back to his Captain with word of our departure." He would hate to spoil their plans with a premature exit of the hanger since they were now technically stranded on the planet until they met with the overseer.

When a suitable amount of time passed and Eddard was satisfied, the group stepped out of the side door and made there way back to the inn, a little of excitement setting into the group with the near success of the mission coupled with the slave's realization that their fates were looking better and better.

"Eftemie"
Saljin glanced at the five slaves after the ship had taken off. "Follow Jaster as quickly as you can but try not to draw any attention to yourselves." He bowed, then moved to bring up the rear, causing the women to simply stare at him. "Please?"

Jaster reached around to tap one on the shoulder. "Let's go. Quickly."

The feisty woman nodded, whispering to the girl. "Let's go, love. I think we are safe. All is not as it appears."

The three men nodded, moving to follow Jaster as he moved forwards and out the doorway. Both women followed quickly behind. The shifter watched for anyone behind them and strangely the feeling he'd had before had stopped the moment they had entered the hanger and locked it. By the time they had reached the rooms, Jaster led them all directly into the room that Kalfyra had. The lobby was empty and the innkeep was asleep at the desk and he smiled faintly, putting a finger to his lip. He'd send Triq over to stay with the women for the night and the men could bunk with Saljin as needed, but for now they needed to get this figured out.

"Kalfyra, It's Jaster. Open up."

"Cinderfae"
There was a bit of a pause and then the Aoidei opened the door blinking slightly at the sight of everyone, "oh get everyone inside, I finished cooking not long ago it's warm," the goat girl helped move all the slaves into the room with the rest tsking slightly and making sure to undo any bindings before sitting them down to eat.

Giving Jaster's hand a squeeze as she walked past him Cinder squeezed into the room and found somewhere comfy to rest back, "Kalfyra, get the medical supplies out I want everyone vaccinated. Seems to be more illness then usual around and I want to make sure no one here catches it." Stretching some Cinder winced in pain feeling the bandage over her side pull slightly, she'd have loved one of the Alpha class med bays, slap a bit of genetically engineered flesh over the wound and it would have already been fully healed. But such things were a bit beyond her own medical supplies, hopefully she had enough to take into account whatever it is that might have infected those brought along with them, "best vaccinate everyone else as well."

Looking to the group that had settled into eat Cinder sighed slightly before speaking again, "My names Cinder and I am sure you have realized things are not as they appear. Your all free now, but I suggest for our survival and your own you come with us." Cinder's eyes flickered toward Faran and she wondered idly what she would do if he attempted to make a run for it. She'd let him eat and then attempt to talk to him once the others had cleared out.

"Xanil"
Eddard introduced himself when it came time, but other than that, he said little while watching the five ate. He was curious about Faran and whether or not he knew his significance. Such a conversation could wait until he was properly secured either on the trip home or when they actually returned to the Pantheon.

Eddard turned his attention on the other four. What could they do with them? He hoped that this wasn't their homeworld, that they wouldn't have any attachmnets to this planet and therefore much more willing to come with them. From the Pantheon they could either try and start new lives, providing they are able to fix Harmodius, or charter ships and attempt to return to their homes and families. Eddard would be happy to help them though now wasn't the time. They might have to wait until everything is sorted out before really progressing from this point in their lives. Hopefully their freedom would keep them satisfied for sometime since they were likely to never see their homes and families for the rest of their lives before this lucky purchase.

After recieving his vaccination and having a little bit of Kalfyra's food, Eddard left the room saying, "Ill be down stairs in the common room having a drink. Swing by and grab me when you're ready to go see the overseer, Cinder."

Downstairs he procured some sort of beer. It was similar to a pilsner but not quite. It was likely brewed in some advanced method that he was unfamiliar with but all the same, it was nice to sit and have a drink since the conclusion of the mission was quickly approaching. As he sat, Eddard thought critically about the events of the past several days and how he may have handled them differently had he a second chance. Not that he disagreed with how the various solutions to the situations played out, but more as a means to better himself. When he was finished with his first drink, he ordered a second, waiting for Cinder.

"Eftemie"
After getting his vaccination, Jaster sat down with a plate of food near Cinder. He was keeping an eye on Faran the entire time Triq had run over to check Saljin who sighed shaking his head as he was given the shot himself. Second one in two days was annoying.

"I'm fine, Triq."
he said, then moved towards the five, bowing politely. "My name is Saljin, and I wanted to apologize for my actions earlier towards all of you. It was necessary to keep up our pretense. And we will see that you get what you need, but as Cinder said, it's safer with us than out there. We could not free everyone. At least not at this point."

The fragile looking girl watched him a moment, "Then you didn't mean...I mean.. what you said" she blushed faintly, looking very relieved. Yet almost disappointed. He'd given up a sapphire for her that obviously meant alot to him. Why? If it were only a pretense?

Saljin shook his head vehemently turning faintly red himself. "No! It was to make them think.. well... you understand."

Triq turned to stare at the girl and then at Saljin. Her eyes narrowed slightly. "Hmpft...what did happen there?' she asked, turning on Saljin.

Jaster broke into laughter. "Triq, that's enough."

The green-eyed monster is cast loose.

Triq stopped, turning to stare at Jaster a moment. "Yes, my Lord." she bowed but moved over to sit down slightly peeved. Saljin sighed moving towards Triq after bowing to them again. Whispering softly he began to explain what had occurred. After a few moments the aoide settled down though she watched the girl every now and then closely.

"Cinderfae"
Cinder stood and stretched glancing over to Triq, hopefully the Aoidei wouldn't cause too much trouble it seemed Taj had her under control too much for that to happen. Nodding to herself as if certain things were settled she walked toward the door. Turning toward the others before she left, "alright I'm going to get us another ship. Eat up, if anyone feels ill or anything let Kalfyra know, I'm leaving Mycroft with her so there shouldn't be any issues with telling if there is a disease and what it is. Make sure to keep the rooms locked up tonight, we'll be back later on." She knew they could handle themselves but she would still worry.

Moving down the stairs swiftly she was able to pick up Eddard at the bar easily, "alright lets get going. The more quickly the better."

"Xanil"
Finishing his beverage i none long drink, Eddard came to his feet, "Put it on our tab, please," he told the barkeep. He and Cinder exited the inn, and with haste, made their way to the Naruni Enterprises Headquarters.

The building stood much as it did before with one major difference, where as the doors were unguarded on their prior visit, today two armed Naruni stood within the foyer. Luckily, they weren't given any trouble, the guards seemingly knowing their identity and instructing them to pass.

Again the two stood on the moving walkway, being automatically ushered into the the buildings real lobby. Here, the clerk followed the same trend as guards, immediately guiding them to the next moving walkway that would guide them up the spiral ramp and into the Overseer's solar.

"It would seem that the Overseer recognizes and acknowledges our desire to finish this swiftly." Eddard felt a little uneasy, but then again she had said they would try to expedite this whole process as best she could. Perhaps this is the same efficiency of the Naruni that they put into the development of their technologies.

In no time at all, the two were back in the solar, the overseer and her bodyguard both sitting at the table this time and watching what seemed to be the pirates and the Naruni doing battle in space. Eddard was relieved to note that the pirate's flagship was no where to be seen, only two very large Naruni ships and multitude of their small fighters swarming the pirate fleet. The overseer and her guard watched on, a glint of satisfaction in their eyes.

"Cinderfae"
Cinder paused within the doorway her eyes flickering over the scene. The Naruni were better prepared then she had imagined. "Split their ships and scatter them, not a bad ploy at that." She then looked over to the Overseer.

Cinder had felt fevered ever since they had gotten back, she hoped she hadn't picked up anything from the locals. She actually hadn't been overly worried about disease, because the fever is the same she remembered from when Karaskis had first been bonded to her... Just let me get through this...

We've already spoken about this...much of it is the metal you have put into your body... Karaskis voice was factual and somewhat stronger as it spoke.

Cinder frowned and looked back to the Overseer and her guard, she didn't want to have this conversation with eavesdroppers and she didn't have the mind or patience to try to guard her thoughts.

"So about getting us a ship."

"Xanil"
You will have it. The GCNS was not only grateful for the opportunity you gave us, but also satisfied with your work. Even now we have a task force taking the grounded flagship. Oddly enough, the council was all do anxious and instead of expediting the paperwork, locked it up in a bureaucratic void which actually allowed for much prompter action and more sizable force. By tomorrow morning, the pirates will be nothing more than a passing memory.

And you're lucky in more ways than one. Since the orders are locked in this bureaucratic void, so is your compensation which means its all off the books and our typical restraints for this sector are nonexistant. If you decide the vessel I intend to reward you with is suitable, you can leave here within the hour. I have a model fueled and ready for you at the Naruni Enterprises private hanger.
Reaching under the table, Overseer K'lythy procured a shining, white half sphere and placed it flat side down. Putting her finger on the base of the device, it activated, emitting a hologram representation of the ship.

This is a state of the art, Class V, NE423-62 Abyss Strider. It is completely state of the art, one of our most prized expressions of our technological achievements. Its most effectively piloted by two, but one can do the job with the onboard navigation and controls assistant. Defensive capabilities include both our standard deflective force shields and our recently mastered flutter shields which are smaller fields of force that rapidly and sporadically rotate just outside of the standard shield. Engine technology includes both hyper and warp speeds for moving through and to the unknown while the onboard assistant maps everywhere the ship has been allowing for the recall engine to teleport to most places its been providing its within the void of space. Meaning you can teleport anywhere in space free from matter, so no planet atmospheres or gaseous veins either.

On the topic of weapons, I took the liberty of downgrading its weapon systems. Our weapons are of utmost importance to us and where we make most of our money. Still, you'll find that they out do anything your previous ship boasted.

Eddard nodded, only understanding some of what was telepathically said. "What do you think Cinder? Should we take her offer or just get our vouchers and pick a different ship?"

"Cinderfae"
Cinder moved forward to get sight of the ship in the hologram, it was large but hung gracefully and predatory in the image; like some great bird of prey. It was compact but held enough space and cargo area to be not only aesthetically pleasing but also fulfill the role of a deep space predator, she'd of had to upgrade it's weapons to really make use of the predator part but they hopefully shouldn't need that. The ship...well the ship was impressive, a very good payment and perhaps more. Cinder suspected that the Overseer wanted them out of the sector almost as badly as they wanted to be back home. She'd have Mycroft fully scan the thing before they lifted off but on the surface at least it looked to be the perfect deal.

"We likely won't need a weapons system anyways..." Cinder glanced to Eddard and then to the Overseer, still somewhat suspiciously, "do you have a spectral write up of this ship?" Most wouldn't have asked, but Cinder wanted to see it before they even headed out, she'd have Mycroft overlay the two to make sure there wasn't anything funny going on. "She's a lovely ship, and after I see her spectral write up I think we can likely say the deal is a go." Cinder offered a somewhat tired smile to the Overseer, paranoid as years of experience had taught her but tired enough to hope that the paranoia wasn't needed at the moment.

"Xanil"
Eddard gave a half smile. It was good that Cinder was still cautious. In his growing confidence he would have gladly taken the ship without further consideration which could have been an error. If everything goes according to plan and the group makes it back safely, he will have to try to arrange for a trip to the Naruni homeworld. If it's half as spectacular as things in the tour it should be quite the site to witness.

A wise buyer, something I feel I seldom come across in this sector. Pushing another button on the half sphere, the hologram wavered and recalibrated to display the specifications. You'll find that the ship out does your previous in all regards, unless you wanted a smaller ship for whatever purposes. Just let me know when you'd like me to scroll down to the next section.

"Cinderfae"
Cinder leaned slightly ignoring the pain and growing fever she looked over the information running through it more quickly then even some of the best trained. Gesturing several times to be able to see all the information she nodded after a moment; "do you have a chip that the information could be put on? If not I can use one of mine. I'd like to so I can better adjust our AI to it's new home." That and she wanted it so Mycroft could tell more quickly if anything was out of place.

"The ship looks fine from what I have seen, a very generous deal. We'll be happy to take it and be on our way." She offered a smile to the Overseer and rested against the table to help keep her balance.

Whatever your doing stop it...

This is somewhat beyond my control, natural process. You must hurry.

Frowning some at the remark Cinder glanced back to the Overseer ready to be on their way.

"Xanil"
The overseer slid the half sphere over to her. You're AI won't be necessary. It isn't compatible without a great deal of adjusting due to the hardware we employ. Even if you do attempt to adjust your ai's coding, you run a risk of corrupting it. Simply put, its like going from a trinary, quaternary, or even a quinary system to a denary system though truthfully speaking, the gap is much more significant than that. I'm afraid our technology is far superior to your own. If you want one of our lesser ships that has been augmented to support some compatibility it can be arranged, but even then your level of satisfaction probably won't be very high. I can't tell you what to do, however. The choice is yours. Perhaps you can have your diagnostics somehow interface with the sphere. It contains all the data on the ship, and is actually its key.

"Cinderfae"
Cinder frowned and eyed the sphere looking it over she considered a moment. The technology was nice but she had a feeling the Naruni felt they were far superior then everyone else. She considered that they should run into the Draconian Empire and let the two groups fight it out over who got to be far superior. "Alright, we'll take it." She was feeling irritable and unwell and realized that the room if she moved to quickly tended to shake somewhat.

It wasn't that she didn't think the Naruni weren't capable, it was rather that she had a feeling they thought too much of themselves. Likely much of the time. She reached over for the sphere and then paused, "more paperwork first?"

"Xanil"
The overseer slid the half sphere over to her. Normally, yes. But like I said, the GCNS has buried this whole affair in a bureaucratic void and this transaction is now off the record. Paperwork, as justified as it is normally, would be a waste of both our time. The ship is yours and your crew's. Is their anything else I can interest you with? Perhaps one of our Aut's to bus you and your comrades to the hanger?

Though not normally noted for their generosity, the possibility for it was within the race, especially after they had gained as much as they did this day. One ship was a cheap price to pay for the smooth annihilation of a competitor.

Eddard came to his feet and extended his hand. Normally Eddard wouldn't offer for he had no desire to court and also respected Cinder's strength. Such a gesture was normally unfounded, but it was evident that Cinder was succumbing to something. Perhaps her vaccinations weren't enough, perhaps it was something else entirely. Still, his hand was there for her to take should she so choose.

"Cinderfae"
Cinder paused again for a moment, perhaps years of piracy had tended her toward this but she was somewhat suspicious as always; though from the schematics it seemed unneeded. "Transportation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Overseer." She took the sphere, she would have thanked her for her generosity but really after being shot while sabotaging the flagship she didn't feel as if it was overly generous.

"Our people will likely need about an hour to get ready if you can have the transportation ready by then? We are staying at the Wanton Wyvern not far from the Western docks. We have eleven with us now as well." She stood and offered a nod of the head before turning and taking Eddard's hand. Whispering slightly to the large man she attempted to inform as much as she could, "I feel like I'm going to burn...it's Karaskis. She's done this to me before."

"Xanil"
The overseer slid the half sphere over to her. It has been more than a pleasure doing business with you. We will meet you at the inn specified at the designated time.

Eddard muttered under his breath, "I understand, Eid tormented me with exhaustion and nausea during the early stages of merging and up until recently, plagued my every dream. I will lend you my shoulder should you so need it." He then turned to the overseer, "My apologies grand Overseer, we're staying at the Inn of the Crimson Wench. That is where we will wait for you."

Very well then, we will meet you there.

With that, Eddard helped Cinder out of the room, providing her support when her balance shifted.

"Cinderfae"
The made their way out, wobbling slightly but then a wave of heat washed over her as it had in the very early dreams she had with Karaskis. Gripping Eddard's shoulder tightly she kept herself from toppling over, her skin had become warm to the touch and there was a brief flicker of fire in her eyes before she started to fall.

"s**t..." murmuring slightly she tried to catch herself but there wasn't anything to catch herself on and her body didn't seem to be responding anyways.

"Xanil"
As her knees gave way, Eddard swept her up, cursing under his breath. Wordless, he tried to utilise the fey magic he was so accutomed to. He hadn't used it since the merging since noting that his human spells were severely hindered by Eid's presence. If ever the was a time to use them, now was it since they focused on travel.

He enacted his flight spell and was met with nothing more than decreased weight to his dismay. Quickly placing two and two together, he followed the chanting up with his speed spell. On nay other day Flicker Flash would more than qaudruple his running speed, today it only increased it by a fifty percent margin. He sat off sprinting, using his increased speed and decreased weight in concert, taking great strides. Luckily, his strength aided in propelling him along though it didn't hold a candle to his jumping spell.

In no time at all he was at the inn, kicking the door open and moving up the stairs without regard for the other patrons. Slinging her down so that her arm wrapped around the back of his neck and he could support her with his arm, he used his opposite hand to pound on her romm door hoping that Jaster was within.

"Eftemie"
Jaster jumped when he heard the pounding on the door, but then so did everyone else in the room next door- Kalfyra's room. Saljin was nearest and opened the door slowly. He blinked in surprise stepping around as Eddard held Cinder. Everyone had remained in the same room for safety except Jaster. He'd stepped out to check their room after letting Saljin do the same for his.

"Kalfyra, take Mycroft and some meds to Cinder in their room. Now."
Saljin stated, stepping back inside. He didn't wait for Jaster to call for her.

Opening the door, he motioned Eddard inside while he was still carrying her though sorely tempted to take her from him. "On the bed. What happened?" To jump to conclusions would not be good and he tried to focus on her rather than the thought that perhaps the deal had gone sour.

"Cinderfae"
Cinder was not resting comfortably, occasionally twisting as if in some uneasy rest. Her skin was uncomfortably hot to the touch and she murmured slightly though the words could not be heard. Occasionally her eyes would flicker open as if she was attempting to snap herself out of it.

The door burst open only a few moments after they had gotten Cinder in the room Kalfyra carried the now somewhat familiar medical kit. The machine that held Mycroft on her hip, "looks like some sort of fever." The aoidei frowned and reached out shaking her head, her eyes somewhat unfocused a moment as Mycroft started to scan her. "I can bring the fever down..." she didn't add that she was very certain it wasn't a disease that was causing it; she knew it was her mistress. She was gladdened it meant that Karaskis was close but some sorrow was also given as she had come to know Cinder during this time as well, not bother to think on such too long she went about getting what would be needed to keep the fever down and possibly wake Cinder up.

"Xanil"
"I have no idea, she struggled through our meeting and once we were clear of the Naruni's building just collapsed. I rushed her here as fast as I could." He entered Jaster's room and sat her down where indicated. He knew Jaster may be a little overwhelming. He placed his giant hand on his shoulder reassuringly though prepared for him to shrug it off as many men do when they are concerned possibly beyond the point of reason. "She is strong and there is little we can do for her until Mycroft is done doing what it can." He then turned to the rest of the group who was likely crowding the door. "The Naruni has graciously offered us a taxi to their private hanger where our new ship awaits. We have an hour until they arrive, prepare for our departure."

Turning to the seventeen year old youth named Myles. "You there, here," he tossed the boy his key card, "take that and gather my things. You will find an archaic sword strapped to the underside of my bed. That takes presidence over my other possesions. Get it and the rest for me, please."

As the boy sped off, Eddard turned to watch Mycroft continue to run it's diagnostics.

"Eftemie"
"I've a good idea what it is. Mycroft and I have already discussed it. The cybernetics versus Karaskis. The changes are reaching a peak. Triq, make sure Arithon is ready too." He frowned watching, but then thought about what Eddard had said.

"When she's finished and they arrive, if Cinder's not up to par, then Eddard, I'll need you to carry her for us. I'll take care of the ship with Saljin and Mycroft's help. I'm sure we can get it into space." He didn't add without too much damage. They did not have any other options if she was incapable of flying. He and Saljin had both watched her often enough on this trip.

"They can all help carry the things from our rooms also. Saljin and I will grab Cinder's gear and my own. We ALL need to get off this planet. Not just one or two of us."

Excentrique nodded moving away towards the demon's door. When she was finished there, she grabbed the packs she and Saljin had from their room making sure that they were with Jaster's and Cinder's things.

"Cinderfae"
The image of Mycroft flickered into view, "the degeneration has almost doubled since I scanned her last. That is what has caused this, the medicine that Kalfyra is going to give her I believe should stop the fever and allow her some relief." The AI wasn't telling them everything, it was a very human thing to do but having lived with Cinder and with the parasite as he called Karaskis so long he knew it had to do with the parasite.

Kalfyra pulled out several medicines and gave them to Cinder, blinking rapidly after several minutes Cinder opened her eyes and sucked in a breath.

She just lay for a moment before being able to gain her breath enough to speak, "...at least I didn't fall in front of the Overseer." She offered a faint but very tired smile.

Sighing slightly she attempted to push herself up, "Kalfyra adrenaline please...and Jaster you aren't flying the ship," she was somewhat crabby in general but she was going to get them home...it was sort of what she had to do.

Kalfyra frowned some as if unsure before digging in the medical bag again.

"Xanil"
Eddard nodded, "You did great," he said offering up his words positively. "But perhaps it is best to let Jaster try. Your pilot's sense may be inhibited by the illness, especially if you are lacking balance." Eddard knew nothing about flying, but he could at least understand that equilibrium was a fair part of the sense that pilot's possessed.

"Between us all, I think we can get it off the ground and into space, even if I have to get out and try to heave it into the air," he said jokingly in a likely not so successful attempt to lighten the situation.

"Eftemie"
Jaster nodded. "I think it's best left to us, Cinder. This time. We are more than capable of it and you are not doing it. We need to get back. ALL of us and that includes you." He suddenly smirked, folding his arms. "Besides what are you going to do if I have Eddard simply carry you onto the ship and do it anyhow? I trust Mycroft to keep us safe. Even if I'm doing the driving. And much safer than having Eddard throw us."

Saljin bit his lip. He'd never seen Jaster this stubborn before. He wondered if he would really do that if she pushed. Somehow he suspected he just might.

"Cinderfae"
Cinder narrowed her eyes, she knew she wasn't up for flying and no matter how state of the art if the Naruni had left surprises; well an inexperienced pilot wouldn't be able to handle it. "I'm a pilot, which means I fly ships. You hardly know what most the buttons do, if something happens out of the ordinary the ship will go down if you are flying it." She frowned as she spoke.

But if you pass out well, that won't do the ship much good either.

Shut up, this is your fault in the first place.

She then shifted her gaze to Eddard and back to Jaster, "as for attempting to make someone carry me, I would hate to have to shoot Eddard or you."

She moved to stand up and winced, feeling her stomach trying to revolt on her she paused, they were right she likely couldn't fly now. "Right, you get it off the ground. Take Mycroft with you, if there are any problems anything that the navi seems to have troubles with. You will come and get me." She reached and grabbed some various supplies from the medical kit, making sure she could jump start herself if needed.

Eying the others in the room with a frown for a moment she then got up and grabbed a jacket pulling it on, "we should get moving then." Though it looked like she would be moving somewhat slower then usual.

"Xanil"
Eddard turned and went to leave the room speaking as he left, "Jaster, I trust you can handle helping her get ready. If you need me carry her just give the word. After all, I already carried her across town. And Cinder, remember, you're our comrade and to one, more than that. We do what we do out of care for you. Allow us to help you for that as is what comrades do for each other."

At his room, Myles already had Eddard's things on his back and was waiting. He looked precarious as Eddard's back pack was custom built for him by a tanner back in Britain and was obviously bogging him down due to its size and the fact that it contained everything he adventured with, most notably his chainmail. "Well done. Had we met in another life, I might take you as a squire," he said as he relieved the boy of his large pack and sword.

"Squire? What's that?"

Eddard raised an eyebrow and then realized that the boy's homeworld may not have ever had knights in such, especially if it was colonized as opposed to developed via convention evolution. "It's like an apprentice, but to great warriors known as Knights."

"Most warriors I've seen use blasters, beam melee weapons, and surgesticks."

"Well, I'm pretty sure none of the warriors you've seen know the dance of sharp steel steel and heavy armor, nor the dance of the armorless. If you care to see them, I will you show them to you when we reach our destination."

The boy sort of shrugged and nodded his head, not quite following. Eddard waved him into following him and then went to help the others gather their things.

"Eftemie"
They were on their way back. With all the items that another had gone after. He was brooding again and he knew it. It should be the farthest thing from his mind especially with Cinder sleeping next to him. Glancing back at Cinder a moment, a faint smile appeared as he saw she was still sleeping peacefully. Moving towards his pack he pulled out the dress he'd gotten for her. The necklace was done also, a small puffed heart made of the redheart wood now hung from the strand of glass beads. Carefully he laid them out for her across the chair. She'd find them when she woke.

He moved to sit by the window, propping his feet up and staring outwards. It was not so much looking at something as the thought of seeing a dark sky with fathomless stars overhead that moved him to do so.

A sleepless night intrudes.

Not the first.

Nor the last.

No. His reply was short. Concise but it was not what he was feeling. I keep thinking about the names unwriting. It bothers me a great deal. I could think of one name being take from him. The person dying or changing. Forgetting. But all the names means many have forgotten. Changed. And are uncalling to him.

Taj remained silent, having no words to give. It bothered he no less. Leaning back against the cushions, he simply watched the hyperspace go past as his mind tried to work on what was bothering him so much. Was it the expression he had seen on the god's face? It was not that alone. Was it the way he had said that the names were unwriting? The silent dread in the sound of his voice? Was that why this kept returning? Or was it his own shameful behavior and the regret that worked on him?

"Too many questions..."
he muttered in exasperation. "And I've no clue where to look for answers."

"Cinderfae"
She had gotten to sleep using more medication then most would have been comfortable with, within her sleep she saw the fires rise with the tribal worshipers dancing around them.

This is an old dream...

Not a dream once reality, Karaskis voice came from no where and everywhere as it had before.

Why are we doing this again? Cinder's mindself frowned and looked over the area as if expecting to be able to catch sight of the goddess. She had thought they had been past this.

It is almost time, get them home...

Gasping slightly Cinder shot up in bed breathing heavily her eyes flickering over the room. She felt on fire, and she knew that the fever was back. Letting her breath even out she reaches over and finds robe standing, pausing near the dress and necklace with a small smile. She didn't feel overly well but she spied Jaster standing thoughtfully to the side; although traumatic to herself she hadn't pulled him from his reverie.

As softly as she was able she moved over and wrapped her arms around him from behind, "what has taken your thoughts so far away?"

"Eftemie"
"Just something that nags at Taj and I constantly no matter what we do." His admission was soft and pain-filled though he moved to hold her against him. "Did I tell you I met him and did not know that's who he was? Harmodius. Creation. Destruction. Whatever others call him. It was when I found the stone back in a cave filled with pools of water I could not see at first. Four times it took me passing them before I understood what was hidden. Then I still did not see him until he spoke."

An intense frown flickered across his face, but there was something more there too. Regret. Remorse. It settled into his eyes as he continued staring outwards. "Some of the things he said still bother me. It's why I jumped at the chance to come with you. At least this had a chance to help him." A sigh broke free. "I don't know. Maybe I'm just being silly. I've gone back over it so many times and I still can't see what Taj and I should really do. One would think as Mystery that the option to see hidden things would be there. Even if we could tell noone."

"Cinderfae"
She ran her hands over his stomach in a somewhat soothing motion and let him finish speaking. She tightened her arms slightly in a hug before responding, "what was the conversation like? You wouldn't be drawing to it like this unless there was more." Something about what happened had bothered him, she wondered if it would play into the insanity that was going on now.

She rested pressed against his back slightly, her fevered brow feeling somewhat tempered by having him close. "Tell me about the meeting, I don't think I'll be getting back to sleep anytime soon."

Karaskis moved within she could feel it, the goddess felt more awake then she had since they had been bonded to one another. A memory of the dream and Karaskis' voice, she shuttered involuntarily it seemed she wouldn't have much more time. At least not much more in which she was just herself.

"Tajnevaki"
His thoughts regressed back to that day. "We found the cave by accident, but I knew something was there. I could feel it. The path led downward and I laughed simply moving forwards while Saljin muttered something about my getting us into trouble again. But after following each path once we ended up in the same room and I could hear water each time we passed. But when I held the stone I knew it was mine, but whether I should keep it was the choice presented to me."

"We spoke of what the stone was and what he was, but I've never been one to see limits. I've always made my own. Having been on my own so long, it's just the way it was. I pushed his buttons as a result just to see a reaction. I've never trusted easily because of my father and those I do trust have my loyalty entirely."
A sad laugh slipped free. "He called me "cheeky" and seemed hurt? Disappointed? I'm not entirely certain but he moved to leave though I tossed questions and remorse with a smile. He said he had never vanished. That he had always been."

Jaster was silent for a long moment, finding the words he needed to say. "I know now he's right, but he said other things that it took me a long while to see what it was he really meant though he was not saying. I even accused him that if the gods faded, perhaps it was just the way it was. "Eighty-six Ages between the fall of the last and the rebirth of the first.". That's how long he waited. Alone. And yet he knew when I would be there and was waiting on me. My own father never waited on me, but sold me. My mother died when I was young and there is little I remember of her except the feel of her. But inspite of all this and even with his admonishment that remorse is hardly with smiles, his next words constantly wear at me. I asked his name, Cinder. He said, his eyes distant as if there were shadows of things to come that he was struggling against, "There were many names, some more recent then others. They are unwriting.""

"I owe him a true apology. I did not see that his presence there was a gift. No other would have been there for me as he was. Aristogeiton loved him and I would imagine knew all his names and what each one meant. Should not all of us know more? I mean I know what I've been told about his names, but how does a name unwrite? And if he meant losing them, then how is he losing them? And how can they be restored? I think this Aristogeiton is a good chance, but I do not think it is all that can be done this time because of the things that Samyaza alluded to with her words at the Pantheon. He's been alone too long and without what should be his."

"Cinderfae"
She rested and listened as he spoke, it was more information then she had ever gotten from him about himself before. Then again the two really had not had time to talk not deeply about things it had been a whirlwind of actions since they had started, space, pirates...lust.

Ah, yes I very much remember that last bit. Karaskis' reply was somewhat cheeky and surprising since she hadn't spoke before.

"You'll get to speak to him again I am certain," Cinder smiled slightly. She really really hoped that he would get to speak to him again. "Samyaza, she's the creature that was in the Pantheon?" From what she had heard it seemed that creature that he had spoken of was a very big piece of the puzzle.

"She spoke of the names as well? Perhaps there is something to that, names...hrm," she frowned faintly, "a power in words perhaps?" She sighed slightly, she knew she was facilitating and letting him open up and think things out but at the same time she wished there was more she could do with the whole situation...perhaps if they found the right word it could open up the mystery surrounding the whole ordeal a little more.

"Tajnevaki"
Once more his thoughts turned back to the things that happened that day. "Yes, she did. She spoke almost in rhyme moving as if to leave until Gianfar spoke to her. Literati, she called him. "One cannot garner new name, where form no longer remains the same. Your captain cruel collapsed. So has the once-ling queen. Perhaps later, cocoon sprung, I can find a name from final lips. But not now, Hunter. That one speaks to no one now. But she will need all of your help, his taint hit her nearest, dearest, closest wracked and lacking found the floor. " "You'll want to stop her leaking gore. Let not concern for me get in your way." The taunt about Gaia was to distract us. I knew that, but neither Taj nor I had the power to fight her, so we moved on past her to tend to Gaia's injury. But I still listened as much as I could."

"As I continued walking warily past her, I heard her say,
"Thoth. That was a name once. In feminine mien, Sarasvati. There were days where I would have lent my two arms to yours to hold your mala and veena. How call you now and how do you answer, master of Literati?" Not long after that she was out the window past poor Arctang having flung him backwards. Gianfar explained the wound she left afterwards as a void wound. She unmade a portion of his neck where she touched it. The Grigori are enemies of Creation and use void. He said that Creation and Destruction could not exist without each other. IF things are destroyed they can be remade. Void will unmake all. Whatever is growing in the cocoon is at Samyaza's doing and discretion. It should not remain so. Taj feels as I do. "

He became silent again, but then said, "There are weapons. Four of them or so he said. Aristogeiton's sword, Harmodius's glaive, Gaia's shears, and Rebirth's jesses. If we have him, then perhaps we have a way to find the first two. The other two I'm uncertain. He said that Aristogeiton was a mighty warrior and fought the last war. He could know. They are imbued with so much Creation that Void can do nothing to them. A question to ask of him though when we are there. Gods of plants or animals can wound them as can Gaia, Byrne.." He blinked. "I have noone to connect that name to. Odd. Anyhow,
