Welcome to Gaia! ::

Rio shuffled barefoot down the upstairs hallways of the Pantheon, headed back towards his rooms with a couple of sandwiches - one for him and one for Adi, whenever she reappeared from whatever her latest adventure outside was. She didn't seem to care that it was cold, probably because she was too delighted to be able to go outside freely again to worry about the weather. He tagged along most of the time, but today she'd gone off with Caoin, leaving the god free to loaf around inside and be warm.
It was the scent of food that drew a small splotchy-coloured beastling from it's hiding place. Mommy was fun but always wanted to groom him, Daddy was fun but was now at the side of the One That Smelled Like New....and his sister...well, he'd been hiding from her as part of a game.

Tiny feet padded almost silently across the hallway as Joss stalked his "prey". A big man with wings that smelled like...like...! He didn't even know! It tickled his nose and made his little pink tongue loll from his muzzle and his too-long tail twitch and curl in an expectant manner. Happy day, this was so much more interesting than playing hide-and-bite with Dan!

Food and sort-of-feathered food! Wouldn't his sire be proud? Oh yes. He was going to bring down this prey...no doubt about it! The problem was that his low, incessant growl would probably give him away far before he could make any sort of leap at Rio...
...eh? Growling wasn't the sort of thing you expected to just hear in the middle of a hallway - or most hallways, anyway. Perplexed, but unperturbed, Rio turned to have a look at what was rumbling at him...and it was cute! Awwwww.

The god grinned and crouched down, balancing his sandwiches carefully. "Hello!"

Whether it was someone's pet or an actual sentient someone, he had no idea.
All was going according to the Plan (that was still hatching in the beast's little brain) until the man turned. He turned...and crouched down! Joss laid his ears back and bared his sharp little fangs at Rio, tail slowly puffing up like an angry cat-tail might have.

"Prey talks." He cocked his tiny head and regarded Rio for a moment - too big to take face on, he would have to wait. Play with his food a little. "Who's prey?"
Right - not a pet, but a young someone. A rather strange someone, but a someone...who apparently thought he was food. That was just his wings, thank you. "I'm Rio," he answered, quite cheerful for someone who was on the 'menu.' "Would you like a sandwich?"

He could always make more, and he would rather not be gnawed upon; he'd gotten enough of that from Adrienne when she was smaller.
Joss sat back on his haunches a few steps away from Rio; regarding the pink-winged man. "Rio-prey." The small fuzz-ball looked from Rio's face to the sandwiches and he licked his chops, feet shuffling a bit as he curled his tail over them as though to stop little paws from reaching out.

"Feed Joss." Rio had offered, but he made it sound like a command. Imperious little beast - and why shouldn't he be? His mama was the most beautiful creature alive and his papa was a big, powerful Alpha. Strong and brave and big enough to eat Rio in one gulp if he wanted!

At least, that's what Joss thought.
Rio chuckled a little at the patchy little beast's demand to be fed - maybe he should give him both sandwiches. Accordingly, he set the plate down on the floor...and went ahead and made himself more comfortable by going from crouch to sit. "There you go, then."

So he was a little hungry, but he didn't really mind putting off lunch for the sake of something adorable.
With a ferocity born of hunger and the fear that at any moment the food would be snatched away from him, Joss lept forward and maul-devoured the sandwiches. He wolfed the food down while growling and looking up at Rio warily; Rio may have been prey to him, but even prey had to eat...and this was all his. Dan couldn't come up and steal it out from under his nose like sometimes, but Rio might have!

In under two minutes the pardmentling had both made an incredible mess and cleaned it up. Not a breadcrumb remained when he was done. "More?" His silky little tummy was very round and he had a much more pleasant stance as he looked to Rio - the way to a beast's heart was it's stomach, that was for certain!
"That was all I had, I'm afraid," Rio answered when the creature had finished, looking genuinely apologetic. "Unless you'd like to come downstairs and I can make more?" He certainly didn't want for Joss to get upset.
Joss put his ears back but sat on his haunches a moment to clean the fur between his toe-pads - gummy sandwich bits were caught there. Wait -- there was more if he went downstairs? Was there more because of his Papa's Master? There hadn't always been more downstairs.

"Not trick? Joss bite Rio-prey if trick." Mangled words though likely intelligible - muzzles weren't exactly made for speaking.
"A trick? No, not at all - I promise." Rio pushed himself up off the floor, gathering the plate as well. It certainly wouldn't do to leave it behind for someone to trip on.
The mottle-coloured pardmentling snuffled at Rio's hands when he reached for the plate but he did not bite or scratch. He was being good because his prey was going to feed him more. "You walk, Joss follow." Soft-looking wings fluffed out as he stretched before following the pink-winged Love Pirate.
"As you wish," Rio replied with a good-natured grin and a slight bow, leading the way downstairs towards the kitchen. While he walked, he continued to wonder just what Joss was, and what he was doing here. He seemed quite the odd little thing, in more ways than one.
Candied wings were soo tempting to the beast as it followed after Rio. When the tall god was nearly down the stairs and about to go towards the kitchen Joss made his move and lept for the "tip" of one of his "feathers"; fangs and claws flashing.

Imagine his surprise when his teeth stuck in the candied wing-tip. Oh, but it tasted so sweet!
Rio had no idea what was coming. One second he was on his way down the stairs, and the next he'd lost a good half a feather to the patchy beast - and not for the first time, he was glad there wasn't any feeling attached to the candied appendages. Shock aside, he took the loss rather well.

Shaking off the surprise, he eyed Joss and laughed. "All you had to do was ask, you know - and be careful, it's sharp when it breaks. You might cut your mouth."
