Eirlyn couldn't help but smile as David seemed to agree with her--it was so rare that people did! "It's very nice to meet you, David," she said sincerely.

There was a lengthy, awkward silence as the formalities were finished, David trying to fake a smile and ending up scratching his nose while turning his blue gaze back out to nothing in particular. His brain was crawling around itself trying to pull out the words that he should say next. Nothing seemed to fit. He wouldn't go so far as to say he was just as happy to make her acquaintance, but...

"Oh, yay!" Eirlyn cheered, abruptly leaning forward to wrap her arms around David's shoulders in a an awkward hug. She retreated after seconds more than a moment, her tail twitching happily and a bright grin stretching her face. "You're better company than nobody, too!" Suddenly, her ears perked and her smile dimmed a few watts. "Oh, I forgot--we've got company!" She leapt up, hopping off the porch and walking backwards towards the gate. "Bye, David!" Eirlyn called, waving enthusiastically. "I'll come by again soon, okay? We'll find a circus to go to!" With that, she flashed him one final smile before turning and jogging away.
