*Points at icon at the bottom of sig* Vampire Academy's the best romance novel I've read. Granted, I've only read three, and one (Twilight) I wanted to stab in the face.
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead is told from the point of view of a half-human half-vampire, also called dhampir or guardians, girl named Rose Hathaway. She and her best friend Lissa, the last surviving member of the royal Dragomir famliy and a pure-bred vampire called Moroi, ran away from St. Vladimir's academy for vampires where Rose was learning to protect the Moroi from undead vampires called Strigoi and Lissa was learning to control the magic all Moroi have. Two years after leaving, they are dragged back by a twenty-four year old guardian named Dimitri Belikov. The rest of the stroy is how they deal with romance, Lissa's strange powers, a mysterious person bent on torturing her, and highschool in general. It's certainly very interesting, but it doesn't have a PG rating.
The next best thing I can suggestion is The Hunger Games. Not really a romance, but it does have a PG rating and a very interesting plot.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is about a young girl named Katniss Everdeen who steps up to take her sister's place in the Annual Hunger Games, a event where twenty four kids from twelve places across the nation are forced to battle to the death. When she finds that the other contestant she is competing against, Peeta Mellark, has a huge crush on her. There's only one thing wrong with that, though. She has to kill him.
