The first Animorphs book, actually. When that alien was killed near the beginning.

Dangerous Dabbler

So many, so very many. I've lost count, really.
I've been holding off on reading "How to Live Safely In A Science Fictional Universe" because I know it's going to hollow me out and fill me with bitter tears and I'll go around feeling this sense of loss all day, each day I read it, if I don't get through all of it in one go. I'm hoping it will be cathartic somehow, if I manage the whole thing in one go.
But every time I think about going to, I'm reminded of the understated sadness infusing the first 69 pages, and how the rest is probably going to be the same. I've only got 170 pages to go, no sweat, so I'm being a bit illogical about it.
I'm just afraid it won't have a sense of resolution at the end and I'll be left with a lingering sense of what a subtle tragedy life is or something equally heartbreaking.

Anyway - other books which have made me cry. The Book Thief, for sure, and several of Robin Hobb's books have had their tearjerking moments. I don't really keep track.

Aimee by Mary Beth Miller. Like, the first six times I read it. After that, I quit rereading it.

...The last book in the Farsala trilogy, for some reason. At the very end. I don't even...

Oh, there's probably more. I know there's at least one more, but I forgot the title.

Though I'm sad to admit it, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Why Snape? D:
Skin by Adrienne Maria Vrettos. Which was really surprising. And then the second time I read it, I still cried. Again, surprising.
1984 by George Orwell. Big Brother won. Yeah. I cried for a while.
