Welcome to Gaia! ::

I just finished reading it last night. I actually stayed up until four in the morning to finish it. The whole thing was simply wonderful, poignant, and delightful. Has anyone else read it?

Here's the synopsis for those who haven't read it:
R is a young man with an existential crisis—he is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he has dreams. His ability to connect with the outside world is limited to a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing.

After experiencing a teenage boy's memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and stragely sweet relationship with the victim's human girlfriend. Julie is a blast of color in the otherwise dreary and gray landscape that surrounds R. His choice to protect her will transform not only R, but his fellow Dead, and perhaps their whole lifeless world.

It's also being made into a movie, starring Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer as R and Julie, respectively. I'm really excited to see how it develops; the cast looks wonderful.
I adored this book. It was one of the most wellwritten things I've read. It's quickly become one of my favorite books.

If you haven't read any of his short stories online, I highly recommend reading them! They're at his blog.

I'm really excited about the movie as well. It sucks that it's getting so much crap for being a story about a zombie, but that's the internet for you, right? I highly recommend giving this book a shot if anyone hasn't read the thing. It's highly unique and interesting, the way Isaac is able to personify and bring to life something most people usually consider monotonous and bloodthirsty.
Shuppeteer

It's easily one of my top three favorite novels and I'm sad how much hate it's garnering before people even flip the cover open.

I actually just ordered his limited edition book, The Hungry Mouth, which has a bunch of his different short stories in it. Anything that isn't in the book, I'll be sure to read on the site. ^__^

Yeah, I really hope the movie manages to prove people wrong if they continue to be ignorant about the book in general. It's such an amazing story. I hope it translates well to film. If not, people should still give this wonderful, wonderful book a chance.

Oh my gosh, I want The Hungry Mouth so badly! I've been thinking about it since he mentioned that it was coming out, but I haven't had any money to order it yet. Do you happen to know how many he's got left?

Do you have any favorite lines in Warm Bodies? I need to go pick up my copy and pick some of them out and share them here sometime soon!

I think what people are misunderstanding about the whole thing is that they're assuming Warm Bodies is just a love story, when actually the love part of the story--although significant, of course--isn't the entire story. There's a lot of commentary on society as a whole, as well as an incredibly interesting take on zombies themselves.

The way I've been looking at it is, hopefully if the movie isn't a total bust, it'll turn a lot of people onto the book. The production seems to be going really well though. I haven't seen Isaac complain about it at all. It does sort of suck that they aren't casting Nora as her race and they've changed what R is wearing, but in the end I think it makes a lot of sense. At least in regards to why they changed R's wardrobe. They said that by keeping him in his shirt and tie, it would rise a lot of questions about why he's dressed in business-esque attire at such a young age and it would distract from the overall story.

I just got it today! I was so excited to get it so fast; I ordered it exactly a week ago. Isaac is very efficient, I suppose. XD I'm unsure of how many copies are left, especially since I ordered mine a week ago. My copy was 331/500 and it was $20.00 with shipping and all.

There were several lines and passages in Warm Bodies I loved. I have a few lines from it favorited on my Goodreads account, but there are many passages I loved that I failed to mark. My favorite line definitely has to be, "Writing isn't letters on paper. It's communication. It's memory." It spoke to me very specifically because I'm a writer and I adored that R (or Isaac) was able to connect with me on such a deep level in such a short little passage.

Yeah, I've tried time and time again to assure people it isn't just a romance. When there's romance in an action movie, people don't classify it as a romance or roll their eyes because there's romance in it. They just accept it's an action movie with romance in it. That's what this book is: the story of a man who struggles with his own existence on a deep and meaningful level and happens to fall in love with a woman along the way.

I really hope people don't judge a book by its movie. Any time I try to stand up for the book and tell people to give it a shot, they're so hostile about things. They're always like, "Psh yeah that's what everyone said about Twilight." It just makes me so sad so many people won't give it a damn chance, you know? However, on Tumblr at least, it seems like a lot of people are just reading it to get a laugh or criticize it and they end up loving it in the end, so that's something. (:

It is hard to pick a favorite part. I liked a lot of the parts with M, especially the end. Or the plan to get R into the dome city. It was such a good book. I both anticipate and dread the movie. I really liked the part where he communicated to Julie with the record player. I loved the whole book!
