The books are very good!
I've read the first two, as the first two are the only my town has.

Also, Glinda was Sorceress of the South.

Not North, The North was ruled by that short and dumpy little witch.

The only thing I didn't like about the books, was how they had the Wicked Witch of The West.

I just imagined her as a green girl. :3

Another good series to read, is "Wicked" Its about the life before Dorthy dropped in, and how Glinda and Good, and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch were actually friends :3

You're right, she was Sorceress of the South! I'll have to go and fix that. sweatdrop
I haven't read Wicked, but my friends all love it. I should probably pick up a copy sometime.
It is good, has all of its fact thought out, very mature topics, and in my opinion not as good as the real Oz series.

scream ALLIIIIIVVVVEEEEE!!!! I am. XD lol
Back on topic, L. Frank Baum was a very good writer. Look at Oz, yet he also made tons of other books, expecially Santa ones.
Oh wow! I haven't read that series in such a long time! I read it back in 6th grade. That's so cool that other people have discovered Baum's originally great works!

XD Which book was your favorite, out of curiousity? Unless you don't remember them very well.... I know that I forget a lot about books after only a couple years of reading them, lol. I have to go back and re-read books a lot. ^^
I just love Oz, people need to keep it alive.
Oh man.... I just heard that a movie is going to be coming out either this year or next year called 'Oz', which is just another Wizard of Oz 'revisioned' piece of crap that's already been overdone. *sigh* Well, you never know... Maybe this one has potential. But I doubt it.
It's suppoed to be 'inspired' by Frank Baum's Oz, only darker and creepier. rolleyes Again... Like that hasn't been done a million times.

Sadly, yes, there are way too many out there where people say,
"Hmm, corperate official #1 I can't come up with an idea for a film, play, book, ANYTHING!!!"
"Well then mindless high up corperate official, we can take something good and do a remake since then it will be popular and make money."
"How about The Wizard of Oz?"
"That hasn't had a big hit since 1939, lets do it!"

That is sadly how it goes... crying too bad for the amazing authors out there rolling in their graves.

Frank Baum was already rolling in his grave when the MGM movie came out, lolz.
Omg, I just ordered book 10 of the Oz series. I'm reading them super slowly, cause when I read all 14 I'll be done! crying And I'm being stubborn and I don't want to read any Oz book not written by Baum. sweatdrop

I love those books. I like some of the follow up and current books. "The Parrot-Ox of Oz" is interesting since Ozma keeps falling into different versions of Oz. Including one where she stayed blonde.

I am not wild for Wicked the book since is is rather depressing.

I also wonder why Ozma would forgive the Wizard. He usurped her throne, kidnapped her and gave her to a witch where she was changed into a boy and then raised rather poorly. The witch was going to change Tip (Ozma as a boy) into a statue. THEN, having been a boy for all his remembered life, Tip is suddenly informed that he has to become a girl and start running the country.

And Tip never actually agreed to become Ozma. But there you go.

The Wizard returns to Oz. And what happens?

Is he tossed into prison? Chucked into the deadly desert? Given a swirly in the Fountain of Oblivion?

No.

He's apprenticed to Glinda and made a Royal adviser.

WHY?????

I always figured it was because she was such a very kind and forgiving person. ^_^; But yeah, I think I would at least smack him a few times.
I can't help myself, The Wizard (Oscar, whatever you want to call him) is one of my very favorite characters. I think he's very interesting. ^_^
