Hey, this seems like a good thread :'D
~subscribes~

I might stick around.

K, so, to go straight to the point... I'm currently enthralled in reading Wuthering Heights (I'd love debating it with someone who's read it, I love talking about the books I'm currently reading), and I have no idea what book to pick up next.

I tried reading Pride and Prejudice, which I never finished, but the fact made me really sad. What happened was that, by unfortunate events, I ended up watching both movies - the old six-hour long one first, followed by the newer one with Keira Knightley - before I could lay hands on the book.
When I started reading it, turns out the dialogue and mostly everything was almost an identical copy of the original six-hour-or-so long movie.
Since I already knew the story so well, and how things developed and ended, it bored me to read the book... there was no passion to discover what came next.
I ended up putting it down until I ran out of time and had to give it back to my friend. =/

But I do enjoy books like those two aforementioned. Has anyone here ever heard of Rebecca, by Daphne DuMaurier?
MARVELOUS book - if you're looking for something along the lines of Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, and such.
It can be quite boring in the beginning, but if you can read til the end, it's well worth it!

Well, reason why I mentioned these is just so I could make an impression of what kinds of books I enjoy. Y'know, the old style with old english and such...

Anyone have any suggestion on what book I should read next?

I am looking for a book that doesn't make me think at all, but is addictive and FUN to read. It doesn't have to be well-written at all, just something that is enjoyable. Could anyone make a reccomendation?

It really depends on what you're into.

One book that immediately comes to mind, that would definitely NOT make you think much at all, is Marked, by P.C. and Kristin Cast.

It's a vampire series, although a quite different one.

The way it was written is way too simple - almost annoyingly so - but depending on your liking, the story just might make up for it.

Unfortunately I need some more time to think of any other books that don't require much thinking... for I'm fond of deep and complicated books that makes you think to understand them.

House of the Night (Only One Through Four)
Lord Of The Rings (All Three)
Fallen Angel
Anita Blake (Only Read One Of Them But Still Was Damn Good)
Nightworld (All Three)
Percy Jackson, and The Olympains (All Five)
Greek Mythology (Read Quite A Number Of These)
His Dark Materials (All Three)
Inheritance Series (All Three)
Wolves (Read A Number Of These Also Whether Fiction Or Nonfiction)
Alosha (Only The First One)
What Really Happened To Lani Garver

Maybe The Forest of Hands and Teeth? It's a romance/finding one's self/following dreams at any cost/coping/escape novel set in post-apocalyptic world of zombies. It's very different from most zombie novels/movies I've read/seen as it takes place many many generations after the initial outbreak. It's a easy read, but by no means simple. The characters as well as their world is intriguing. It just sucks you in completely and with minimal ease.

It was released this March, so it's definitely new. :] I read it in my English class and utterly loved it. Plus, there's a sequel being published sometime next year as well as a third in the works, I believe.

It came to mind, so I figured it was worth mentioning. xD

Thank you! I'll look for it! biggrin

I haven't really read a lot of books about vampires, actually the only ones I can list off the top of my head are Twilight (did not like that much at all) and an abridged version of Dracula in class (which I found kind of interesting)

But I'm willing to give almost anything a try!

I do like some of the slightly more complicated books (but I really can't stand anything that goes overboard with descriptions) but I haven't been reading a lot at all lately...I'm starting to feel like my love of books has kind of faded, and it would be nice to have something just fun and not too deep to kill time with XD
I recomend The Abhorsen Trilogy by Garthe Nix.
I gotta say I'm new and I don't quite get it yet, but I'll talk all day if I can, esp. book-related!http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/compose/entry/new/45390447/?quote=1#

I’ve skimmed through some of the previous posts and looked at some of the already recommended titles for vampire novels but none really stood out to me.

I’ve read: Bram Stoker's Dracula
Salem’s Lot by Stephen King
and part of the Vampire Chronicles (lost interest)

Hopefully someone could give me the title to a good gothic horror?
I'm just about done Coraline by Neil Gaimen. Not a lengthy book but any means but a good read.
