Hey, this seems like a good thread :'D
~subscribes~ I might stick around. K, so, to go straight to the point... I'm currently enthralled in reading Wuthering Heights (I'd love debating it with someone who's read it, I love talking about the books I'm currently reading), and I have no idea what book to pick up next. I tried reading Pride and Prejudice, which I never finished, but the fact made me really sad. What happened was that, by unfortunate events, I ended up watching both movies - the old six-hour long one first, followed by the newer one with Keira Knightley - before I could lay hands on the book. When I started reading it, turns out the dialogue and mostly everything was almost an identical copy of the original six-hour-or-so long movie. Since I already knew the story so well, and how things developed and ended, it bored me to read the book... there was no passion to discover what came next. I ended up putting it down until I ran out of time and had to give it back to my friend. =/ But I do enjoy books like those two aforementioned. Has anyone here ever heard of Rebecca, by Daphne DuMaurier? MARVELOUS book - if you're looking for something along the lines of Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, and such. It can be quite boring in the beginning, but if you can read til the end, it's well worth it! Well, reason why I mentioned these is just so I could make an impression of what kinds of books I enjoy. Y'know, the old style with old english and such... Anyone have any suggestion on what book I should read next? |
