I finished 'Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrel' about a month ago (as was recommended in this very thread), and I loved it. But I haven't read anything since.

Right now I feel like a fiction novel that's set all over the world. I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for. Something that portrays the vibes of various cultures, in different places around the world.

Maybe like a pirate novel... or maybe something that's similar to the TV series 'Lost'.

Sorry for the vagueness.

You may enjoy His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novak. The first book takes place in England but later in the series the main characters go to China, the Middle East, and eventually Africa. It takes place during the Napoleonic Wars, so it does have the characters traveling by sea, but there are no pirates.

Prescribe Me A New Book!

Okay, so, I was in Borders Express yesterday. I was armed with money and coupons worth 1o dollars off. The only problem was that I couldn't find a book that caught my attention enough to buy it. I looked in the front where they have all the best sellers, the teens section, the adults section, and I spent atleast ten minutes browsing their small collection of classics.

So.. Help? Me not being able to find a book might be because it was only a Border's Express, but I'm usually able to find atleast two books I want to buy in there. I'm not in a rush because I have atleast five unfinished books sitting around in my room.

I like teen or adult books that don't hold anything back. Like, Tweak for teens and The Lovely Bones for adults. I'm also getting into the heavy literature, but I'm reading one of those books now, and I don't think I could handle two in a row.
I would enjoy a romance book, but not one of those over-the-top kind. You know, the ones with a half-naked girl sitting on a guys lap. Something like "Nights in Rodanthe" would be fine.

Nothing too baby-ish, please.
And I apoligze for typong so much.

For teen novels, I'd recommend The Young Wizard's Series by Diane Duane. It's 8 books long so far (we're currently waiting on the 9th book to come out), very well written, Duane is originally a sci-fi author, so it has this neat quality of being an elaborate mix of sci-fi and fantasy with a bit of everyday life thrown in. It's starts off young-ish, but that's because the characters are, and it grows with them.
I'd also recommend The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, a sci-fi/survivalist type novel, excellently written, very captivating.
As well as Graceling by Kristin Cashore. This is her debut novel and is beautifully written. Set in a medieval world, with some elements of fantasy and lots of adventure. Very well done.

hmmm, i'm not really into dragons. would that somehow affect my enjoyment of the series?
I'm back again, xD

I'm searching this time for books about Mary Magdalene. I'm not a overly religious person, but I find this person fascinating. I know there are many out there, but I have read a few and was left unsatisfied. So any suggestions are great.

Also, I'm searching for books about Pontius Pilate.

I'm looking for any thing frightening but I prefer classic styl and not perticularly gory.
Try vampire academy.
I am looking for a book that doesn't make me think at all, but is addictive and FUN to read. It doesn't have to be well-written at all, just something that is enjoyable. Could anyone make a reccomendation?

One of my favorite books of all time is Within the Darkness by Phoenix Rutherford. It's a developing story that she posts on her blog every Friday. She used to have it on an old site (which is how I know about it), but she started all over again. It's really great, about this whole different continent of magic and this one human girl is the only person who can basically keep everything from going to hell. There's soooo much stuff in it from love triangles to betrayal to death to friendship and sacrifice. It's just really awesome. I can't wait until she gets the whole thing up on her site again. ^^
I'd like to recommend A Fly Has a Hundred Eyes by Aileen G. Baron. It's an archaeological thriller set slightly before the WWII, in Jerusalem.
