So, this is driving me crazy. Many years ago, I read a short story for a class.
Details: A man is a prisoner of war. He nearly drives himself mad with the fear of death, but then finally comes to terms with it and gives a false answer of where his compatriots are hidden. However, he finds that his 'false' answer actually turned out to be true, and he has accidentally sold out his friends.
BONUS: Also looking for a modern short story about a cannibal who shares a train with a passenger and attempts to convince the passenger to be eaten by him. Contains no punctuation, as I can recall.
10k to each story if you can tell me the names/authors.
