Welcome to Gaia! ::

Redwall was my favorite series growing up. It turned into my father in a way. Kinda crazy, but they did and are.

Just wondering what others think about it.
Every two-three years, I go back and reread all of them (except Martin the Warrior, because I hate crying). So last week I finished the audiobook of Mossflower (definitely my favorite!), I'm in the middle of the audiobook of Taggerung, and I'll be starting on the paperback of Salamandastron soon. 3nodding

Needless to say, I quite love the series.
*shrug* I'm a quick reader.

I'm curious: How did the series come to be a father to you? I've heard of series inspiring people before, but I've never heard anyone say that a series has become a father to them.
Long story.
My father was emotionally, verbally and psychologically abusive. and me being special needs anyway made it especially hard.
I'm more of an emotional person when it comes down to it. Redwall(don't laugh) taught me respect and how a girl should be treated...honor...all of that stuff I should've learned from daddio.
No, no laughing. I think those messages in the book--not only honor and respect, but also concepts like loyalty to our friends, being true to ourselves, standing up against "evils" in the world, etc.--resonate with a lot of people, and is one reason why the books were and are so popular.
Sadly, I don't know what happened to my series. sweatdrop I think they got soaked with contact solution, but I can't be sure.
My first 6 books, I need sent to me... evil ...and I have 3 others from my uncle.
Awwww! sad When I was living in the dorms, all my books stayed at my house--it would drive me nuts, because I would have the urge to read something, but wouldn't have it available. And of course, don't want to re-buy!

I think I've only got about six books of the series, and they're pretty beat up--water damage, grubby-finger damage, dropped-in-bushes damage...I used to be so hard on my books. sweatdrop
I think that's what makes books awesome! They're well-loved, and clearly used for the purpose they are there. heart Either that or brand spanking new copies. Smell so gooooood....

The Redwall series was a favorite among a lot of my friends, but I didn't know what it was, so I didn't end up reading them until I was in my teens. The first Redwall book I read was Mariel of Redwall. I loved it so much that I made it a goal to read all of the books. That series has been a huge form of escape for me, and I've now read all of them (including the newest ones) and watched every episode of the cartoon series. smile
I use
to read those books
a lot when i was younger
and they just are worth the time!

I might hit them up
this month
Cartoons of Redwall....i've heard of those, but i don't want to ruin the kindof romantic picture in my head.
My dad used to read them to me when I was too younger to read myself and I've stuck with them ever since. I love those books. Pity there aren't going to be in any more.
redwall was an early favorite of mine
