Like that's just strange....

Clare explained this on her Tumblr at one point. Jace was just -- Always prepared. It's not something he thought to grab before he went to Edom -- It's simply something he never unpacked from his things. I mean, he's a 17 year old boy. Most do carry condoms.

Now, I do agree to a point. I didn't think the scene was necessarily needed, but they also didn't know whether or not they would survive... So it's one thing they wanted to do together before you know, their untimely deaths.
