They made a new sticky? And it looks like it's turning into an anti thread. Why does it seem like the only real intelligent conversation you can have about Twilight is when you are criticizing it.

You can have intelligent conversation without criticizing it. There did needs to be more fans in where. Give it time and there will be.

I like Twilight and I would love to talk about it.

Oh I'm not a fan, I'm neutral bordering anti, and that was mostly a rhetorical question.

And I'm sure you can have a conversation without completely criticizing it, it's just with all the "Edwards HOT!" spam it makes you wonder, but I know not all fans are like that, my twilight loving friends are sane after all.

I'm waiting for the intelligent conversation for defending Twilight, because I'm sure not doing it.

People who come in just to say they like it or hate it are annoying. At least give a reason.

Yes please give a reason, the "Twilight SUX!" antis are just as annoying as the "Twilight ROX!" fans.

I like Twilight because I find it interesting and easy to read. It's not the best book I have read but it's not the worst. I find it to be enjoyable. I enjoyed the movie and the summaries sparked my interest. I haven't gotten through Twilight but I will.

First person point of view is a cop out.
It's easy.
It's quick.
And it requires no skill to write from that perspective.

Alright, may I ask why you found the movie enjoyable?

@Xerios: Although I didn't like Meyer's writing or her style, I think that all perspectives take some sort of skill to write in. Meyer just doesn't have it.

I disagree, it does take talent to write from that point of view and do it well

My reason for not loving the book is simple, romance bores me and Edward and Bella's relationship had next to no substance. If that kind of thing floats your boat then fine, enjoy the books.

What's with the new sticky?

Anyway, I enjoy Twilight because I love how it's a love story. Granted, I've only read the first book and I've seen the movie, but I love how Bella falls in love with Edward immediately. It was an easy read, and it was enjoyable to see that (considering how many people blurt Breaking Dawn spoilers) that the guy gets the girl and they live happily ever after. It's like a fairytale. And, while I originally disliked how it went against the conventional vampire lore, I found it to give the book and movie a bit of "spark".

I agree that Mrs. Meyer can't really write all that well, but I was able to look beyond that and enjoy the story being told.

I liked the music, during the baseball scene. Also it left me wanting more. I tend to like movies that I go and see because I have no expectations. Before watching the movie I didn't know much about Twilight. The movie made me want to read the book. I tend to watch movies then read the book. I did that for the princess bride, Christmas with the kranks, planet of the apes.

The old thread went off topic I think was the reason.

The old sticky was blocked.

I think I might have liked the story if the characters had some depth to them, or at if the chemistry between them felt real. The only thing I got was that beautiful people are supposed to get a happily ever after together, and through a really dead plot. I had been okay with the plot of the first book, but then she went on writing, and it seemed to go downhill.

I spend my days lurking round,
The writer's forum without a sound,
Until by chance I slip and fall,
Into a thread.

The fact that they fell in love almost instantly is one of the things I really didn't like about the story. I just don't by into that whole love and first sight thing. I find it much more interesting to let the relationship develop over time and learn why they are in love in the process.

And as for the writing style, I was never one to let that kind of thing bug me either, but yeah it wasn't all the great either, but the story being told and the characters just didn't click with me. I say it had a ton of potential, but it's a shame it didn't make good use of it.

If I glow, bump here please!
