Ok, my core argument here is that Edward and Bella don't demonstrate any characteristics of what I could call love. They don't have any moments where they're just together and happy to be that way. Bella, at least, always wants more. She literally can't think about him without panting over the idea of jumping his bones.

I don't have a problem with them being sexually attracted to each other, my argument is that the only relationship displayed by them is entirely based on lust, and little, if anything, else.

[edit] Though, judging from the part I'm at in the third book... I'm not sure I'm taking these books seriously anymore. I HATE love-triangles that resolve themselves by the heroine accepting that she loves both. I like heroines who are maybe confused with feelings she has for both for a short while, but soon comes to the conclusion that one option FAR outweighs the other to the point of nonexistence. Until that happens, I officially despise Bella and am no longer thrilled with this series.

I'm pretty sure that never goes away. She will always be like "I love both of you! I just...love Edward more..."

Wow. So I'm almost done with the third book and I'm at a part that really makes me lose all respect for Bella. I never thought she'd cave in to her affection for Jacob. I never thought she'd admit that she was in love with him. The way she kisses him is the same as cheating. I honestly didn't think her love for Edward would waver, but it does. How disgusting. I don't know if I can enjoy this series anymore. I'm so mad about this. I almost can't bear to finish the book now.

Honey, she doesn't have a brain so she doesn't know who she wants. She's kind of like the girl who can't pick the pair of shoes to wear today; she's so wishy-washy that she wants that pair of shoes that day (ie Edward) or the other pair of shoes that are really cute and compliment her legs (i.e., Jacob).

It's not that Bella doesn't have a brain. It's that she's selfish and oversensitive. She doesn't think long-term. She only focuses on her feelings at the present moment, and does anything she can to satisfy them. Completely the opposite of Edward. She doesn't deserve Edward's unconditional love.

I hope you're just exaggerating in favor of hating the books. Because I'm totally not satisfied with that. Not that I really want anything spoiled. I'm just in rant-mode.

In fact, this is kind of the reason I stopped reading Vampire Knight. Though it wasn't that she loved both, in that situation. It was that she didn't love the guy I thought she should love. *sigh*

...I am going to not make an anti-Edward comment for the sake of the conversation. But she doesn't like have a set mind like, "Oh, I want to be with him because he makes me happy and wants to love." But she is bounces around from boy to boy; doesn't know what's she's doing and tugs the two boys' heartstrings in the process.

I disagree. I think she knows exactly what she wants. But her wants are selfish and disgusting. She thinks with the irrationality of her emotions in whatever the current setting is rather than looking at the whole picture and making decisions with good conscience. Her lack of morals really disturbs me.

Ah, I don't know...And on the subject of lack of morals, do not, I repeat, do not read Breaking Dawn because any character that you liked before, you will hate and you will want to throw it against the wall in frustration.

Ah, I don't know...And on the subject of lack of morals, do not, I repeat, do not read Breaking Dawn because any character that you liked before, you will hate and you will want to throw it against the wall in frustration.

The only characters I particularly like are Renee, Rosalie.. and I suppose Edward. Renee, because she actually cares what her daughter does.. unlike my own mom; Rosalie for contradictory reasons; and Edward... just for the amount of restraint he's capable of. Yet at the same time, he's not perfect. Perfect characters are just annoying.

Everyone else is just "meh" or I really can't stand them. I'm only a fan of Jacob in the movies. But the credit for that goes to Taylor Lautner.

The point being that I'm sure I won't be too disappointed.

dont worry I felt the same way.... when she kisses Jacob I was like "ok, this love is over Edward needs to dump her or just kill her already... really?" but the fourth book is very funny with its overly sentimental crap and how frick'n crazy Bella gets in it too
