Welcome to Gaia! ::

Hi there, gaia!

Well, I've been looking for some good lesbian books, but there don't seem to be a good deal of them other than the "femme a meets butch b and falls in love but someone has a past that keeps them apart and everyone's happy in the end" that seems to occur in every adult romantic fiction lesbian book.

Does anyone have any good suggestions?

At the moment I'm reading 'About a Girl' which is good, but kinda depressing for me at the moment. ^^
And I'm reading Sabine, but it made a really AWKWARD turn from interesting teacher/student lesbian story to bizarre gothic vampire novel without any warning...
I'd recommend Well of Loneliness and Nella Larsen's Passing.
Good luck. I haven't read any lesbian books. I dont even believe I've come across a lesbian book..
I read a pretty good historical YA involving a lesbian protagonist. "Wildthorn" by Jane Eagland. It's more a thriller than a romance, but the story has stuck with me. If you enjoy vivid settings and southern gothic storytelling, this novel might appeal to you.
Fried Green Tomatos is a classic smile

Rubyfruit Jungle by Rita Mae Brown is a classic. Many of her earlier works featured lesbian characters, I haven't kept up with her mystery books.
◊ I've never come across a lesbian-themed novel...Ever. Good luck on your quest.
