Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, and Douglas Adams
Cassandra Clare. I love both of her series so far - and hopefully the new one she's thinking up. cool

dalton trumbo

he was a great writer, but only like, two of his books are ever readily available to be purchased
Stephen King and Suzanne Collins
Anne Rice, Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, and Charles De Lint.

Anne Rice is my all-time favorite writer. I haven't yet read everything she's written, but I would like to.

Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is also one of my favorites... I was actually somewhat disappointed by her more recent books, but I'll still read anything else she writes in the future.

So far I've loved everything that I've read by Charles De Lint; as far as I know, everything he's written has sort of the same fantasy and mythology-related themes, so I always know that I'll enjoy his stories and books.

J.K. Rowling is my favorite author whee Ellen Hopkins is an amazing writer as well though.

For classics there is Edgar Allen Poe. Love that mysterious, dark prose.

Then there are Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Jonathan L. Howard and David Gerrold. In all seriousness, if one of them started selling books on their various thoughts during breakfast written on napkins, I'd buy all of the copies.

Neil Shusterman.
Mercedes Lackey. Which given the number of books she's written or co-written, it proving to be an expensive expenditure. Which given my income; means long lasting as well.

Patricia Briggs. I'm practically foaming at the mouth waiting for her newest alpha and omega novel and trying hard not to contemplate how long it will be before the next Mercy Thompson novel comes out.
