There are just some authors that I will buy their books with no hesitation, even if I know little to nothing about the book. They're the kind of author that could write about paint drying or grass growing and I'm sure I'd love it and hang on their every word. William Gibson is one of those authors for me. Anything he's written, I buy. Other books/authors he endorses or cites as being influential to him automatically go on my to read list towards the top. I obsessively follow his twitter account and read all his interviews. I have a huge literary crush on him. I do that with several other authors as well, but he's probably the one I do it with most.

So, do you have an author that you buy anything they write?
Is there a certain author you think could make the most mundane and boring things interesting?
___● Robin Hobb. Anything under that pen name. I will probably expand soon and buy books under her other names as well.

I'm a sucker for classic Victor Hugo works. His style is long and drawn out, but I love his characters and the manners in which he wraps his plot around to involve all of them with each other. My collection of his work is slowly growing.

So far as more modern writers go, I tend to pick up anything by Umberto Eco. I love his descriptions, research, and concepts. His stories move fast enough to keep the reader moving, and they're deeply thought enough to retain the interest created.
CS Forester, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Dickens, Verne, Tolkien, Burroughs. Hey I like the classics.
Patricia Briggs and Tamora Pierce. Mercedes Lackey used to be in that category, but she seems to be slipping.

I'll read anything written by the ff. writers: Dean Koontz, Steven Erikson, Ian C. Esslemont and Carl Jung. I won't even bother reading the synopsis or summary.

I love all the research and the details they put into their writing. Koontz has a wide vocabulary and he's very good at imagery.

Erikson and Esslemont wrote my favorite high fantasy series. It's heavy reading. Not everyone can handle Malazan.

Jung's not just a great thinker. I love the effort he put into his writing. He looked even at the smallest details. Unfortunately, it's hard to find some of his books in my country.
Tamora Pierce. She's one author whose books I've repeatedly picked up and enjoyed without even realizing it was hers. I read her "Circle of Magic" series years ago, and picked up the "Trickster" duo without knowing they were by the same person (I am bad with authors' names, but still.)
Terry Pratchett! and Stephen King, as corny as it sounds, I'm always up for something light horror-ish 3nodding

The world is not beautiful

I love Pratchett as well! I'm still missing his two newest book right now though.

Therefore it is.
I've read everything Tolkien has ever had anything to do with. lol Even his translations.
Also, Isaac Asimov. I recently found a collection of early short stories and he has some commentary on each story in which he tends to talk s**t on himself. I don't even care. lol

I need to read more Asimov. I've only done some of his short stories, which were amazing.
His sideburns are amazing as well.

I definitely love it when an author doesn't take themselves and their work too seriously and can look back and criticize/laugh at it.

Therefore it is.
